I looked like Brian Jones in High School. My dad’s favorite band is The Rolling Stones so he frequently told me as such. As much as I like Ronnie, The Rolling Stones were at their best with Taylor. I only wish that Brian didn’t die. He was very talented musically but boozing made him too lethargic which is one of the reasons he was fired.
@ArmandoMPR
Жыл бұрын
Both Beggar’s Banquet and Let It Bleed are masterpieces, and pretty much all the guitar work was done by Keith. Brian only played the slide on “No Expectations”. Brian wasn’t the Stones by a long-shot. Maybe in ‘63 and ‘64 you would’ve had a chance at making that argument, but not after “Satisfaction” in ‘65. The Stones fired Jones and Taylor was on board months before the former’s death. Both Taylor and the band were fortunate to find each other, but if we are gonna choose who was more fortunate, then it was definitely Taylor.

I became a Stones fan when MT joined and stopped being a Stones fan when he left. You may not agree, but the stuff released after his departure is mostly shite with a few exceptions. MT's contributions to the band's greatest era 1969 - 1974 cannot be overstated. Listen to his slide playing on live version of 'Love in Vain' on GYYYO ... pure brilliance. I can understand why he left as he was getting screwed by Mick & Keith on song writing credit. Even though he probably didn't come up with many song ideas, I'm sure that he added the emotional blues quality that completely transformed the end product. Neither Mick or Keith had that capability so MT should be recognized for his contributions.
@johnnapier1892

MT wrote songs and you can tell which ones are his - “Moonlight Mile” “Can’t You Heat Me Knocking” “Sway” and especially “Time Waits for No One”. He co-wrote all of those. Mick & Keith also burned Bill Wyman for “Jumping Jack Flash” and Brian Jones for “Paint it Black” and “Ruby Tuesday” which taints them as my heroes

Mick Taylor was the only lead guitarist the Stones had. Jagger and Watts have publicly talked about the Mick Taylor years and said he's "melodic", "fluent", "musical", "which we didn't have before and don't have it now". Jagger loves Mick Taylor. The reason he left in '74 is because Keith Richards was jealous and treated him like hell. Richards doesn't want him on tour because Taylor gets the spotlight.

Mick Taylor is a great guitar player. He is also a great song writer. Even though he is so good, I am not 100% sure that long guitar solos fit in with the band these days. One of the greatest Mick Taylor grossly underrated
I was lucky enough to see Mick playing in a small(ish) room in Glasgow, probably around 2010 or there abouts, Absolutely unbelievable! An absolutely unbelievably amazing guitarist.
I love Ron Wood’s guitar work after 1974, but at the same time it is clear to me that Mick Taylor has unbeatable melodic blues playing skills on guitar that nobody else in the Stones camp has ever had.

When you see the level of actual Stones gests (Gaga, Elton, Taylor swift... ) i can't imagine Taylor MICK in that circus.
Mick Taylor was getting well with Mick Jagger when he was in the band and i think Keith was jealous of this
Can't you hear me knocking is his song!! My favourite stones track just amazing playing.
Jagger loved Taylor’s guitar playing & musician ship.
Mick Taylor is a mother breaker with his guitar. Excellent!!!

After Brian’s death, the Stones lucked out in acquiring Mick Taylor. No one else at the time could have filled Brian’s shoes. I’ll always feel that Brian was the Stones, but Mick T. did a fantastic job in bringing the band back.

@ArmandoMPR

Two difficulties I encountered over the past 50+ years with the band, missing Brian Jones and then Mick Taylor.
At 2.26 see Ronnie Wood, say WOW to Keith Richards, for Mick Talory, Ace solo !!!
Mick was great with the Stones, but IMHO his work with John Mayall on Crusade, Bare Wires, Laurel Canyon, and Dairy of a Band Vol.1 was exquisitely phenomenal! FYI Mayall’s Live in Europe LP in the US was released as Dairy of a Band Vol 2 in the UK.
Rule number uno: you shut up when Mick Taylor is playing! Especially with the Stones

MT wrote songs and you can tell which ones are his - “Moonlight Mile” “Can’t You Heat Me Knocking” “Sway” and especially “Time Waits for No One”. He co-wrote all of those. From 1978 - 2015, I've seen the Rolling Stones 24 times. The absolute highlight was seeing Taylor play with them in Philly in 2013.

However they might try it a bit as it gives the others and Jagger a bit of a break and they are all getting up in years. I love the Rolling Stones. Great music, a great band, exciting shows and I admire their longevity and staying power.
Mick Taylor was an extreme introvert, just like Peter Green. The usual rock star life-style did not suit them. I have often wondered what masterpieces would have emerged from them if they were the nucleus of a band.
Now that is the Rolling Stone anything less would be less
Mick Taylor is a true hero and one of the best guitar players of all time There is no doubt about that But Keith, Brian and Ronnie are fantastic, too They are just different
