It is crazy to think that we live in a time where many people need assistance to find their own inner happiness. How disconnected we have become from the simplest pleasures of life, while being fully immersed in technology and material wealth and possessions. We've been drawn towards what is advertised as "happiness" only to be the unhappiest society to ever live.

Oh you made me realize that I do consider that the only thing needed for happiness is connection to our own bodies and senses. In other words, being in the present. Everything else will flow

sounds like happiness :)
For me happiness is living a minimalist lifestyle. Doing chores with my husband. Working slowly towards our goals. Enjoying every meal that we cook. Talking to my mom. Having easy plans. Being child free. Being able to do nothing at times. Coupled with all of our adventures. We've been living in a new place every month since last 1.5 years and I love every bit of the excitement, the packing and unpacking, the monthly decluttering, the planning everything. For me happiness is also being able to grow and experience life.

Unfortunately there are countries in the world where people can't travel abroad, because it's incredibly expensive. And even mentioned "going to the woods" is for money. We live in privilege and can't imagine that there are people who live differently. Egyptians live truly minimalist life, not buying new furniture, for example, but they do upholstery. I am not judging you at all. It's wonderful how you live, I just wanted to say that the commenter had his/her point about travelling not being accessible

Please, call upon the name of the Lord, He is real..He knows life better than anyone and knows your soul much more deeply than people know. Many think Jesus Christ is a man that started a religion, but this is very untrue. He is the image of God, the expression, and embodiment. I have seen such amazing changes in my life and so have others. Struggles will happen in this world yes, but the peace and joy, purpose and understanding, love and comfort that comes from being close to the Almighty God cannot be measured. We will constantly look in all places for things that we are really missing and meant to get from God. Please, sin is like a weight and filth to the soul, it distances and separates us from God. As a result, we never feel whole and like we are supposed to and look everywhere in this world to feel these things. Eternal life is real, it is a gift from God, who is one in the same as Jesus Christ. I have never been a religious person, but over many years, supernatural experiences, different things, I finally repented some years ago and felt so much happen, it was amazing. Things have continued to change since then, but of course there are ups and downs in this world. God bless

Happiness for me is waking up each morning and given the opportunity to enjoy life one day at a time. ❤
I watch your videos when I 1st wake up, especially when I have a busy day ahead, as a gentle reminder to set the tone that even if on the outside, I look busy. My movement and actions are slow and intentional, and people often tell me I move swift and quiet like an assassin 😳🤣...but I feel like I'm slowly living just being...focusing on the task at hand taking in the environment I'm in quietly drinking all the joy of the moment, just mindfully interacting with others authentically as myself in that moment in time...i don't speak often, I only take up the space I need...people are so warm and kind to me and they always notice me
The one I most yearn for is connecting with nature, I feel such a strong need for it. Living in a big city in a former communist country means being surrounded by depressing architecture, no nice parks and far away from untouched nature. I would love to, when I’m able, move somewhere where I can be surrounded by nature.

I am sorry to hear this. Can you leave for a few days? Or can you bring some plants and nature inside? I feel like it’s a step forward. Not a fix.
I just had to tell you - I cried my eyes out watching this- I've been having a very hard time lately and was in a dark place .. this helped me realize I am letting things I can not control steal my smile .. my joy.. my life .. I got up and wrote in. my journal- and I'm choosing joy ! I'm taking my life back - thank you so much.
Every time I'm going down the stress rabbit hole of what to build or "create", such as projects on my farm, your videos show up on my KZread suggested videos, on you pull me back to earth and get my feet back on the ground. I was raised to always be busy, when all I really want is to be in the outdoors enjoying nature and riding my motorcycles. I've spent decades "planning and building" for when I can finally slow down and enjoy life. As an American, our culture trains us to think we always need to be doing something outwardly visibility productive to others, at least 6 days a week. Thank you so much for your videos
Thank you so much for making these videos. Perhaps you don't realise what an impact it makes on us. Listening to you talk about the simple things in life, talking about those things which no one else addresses... it's so beautiful. It makes me feel alive, real and safe. Thank you. Please continue to do what you love.. we love watching you ❤

Hey Sis! I wanna say that this year I started minimialism just for the sake of getting out of various distractions due to many things, I was preparing for a highly competitive exam, even after the exam is over I just can't leave minimialism behind , it's like a part of me now, I understood that I never needed many things in the forst place and those gaps got filled with actual happiness and a sense of oneness ig? I just wanna thank u for bringing these videos, cuz u may not realise it but u are helping many people like me . Love from India 😁
Sophie, thank u from the bottom of my heart for reminding me what life is about. I've been having one of those bad weeks where u just wanna quit your job but u can't or at least u think u can't... I think Im in a point where I need to rethink my life and your video, like all of them, has been like a deep breath and has helped me calm down; thank u so much for all the wisdom u constantly share with us. This video, Im sure, came at perfect timing for many of us. Also, Sophie, not sure about others but I listen to your videos many times with my eyes closed, they contain so many deep ideas to process, I would respectfully suggest u also make them podcasts, u could have the video version and the podcast version :) your voice, your thoughts... I grew up with a parent who also grow up in a silent island...My inner child didn't need materials, when I was little, moving my body like hands and feet makes me happy, not the money
Your voice is soothing like a balm on the hectic chaos of life. Happiness for me is seeing my little pup every morning. Giving her attention as she tries to sleep in, and bringing her out for a morning walk. She is my living breathing reminder that I have something to love and care for every day 🐶💚
Happiness for me is the blessing of family, being in nature and growing my own food. We own a cafe and make sure people feel cared for and eat healthy food full of love. We also mentor people so they can know themselves more deeply and enjoy their lives. This gives me so much gratitude. Thank you always for your thoughtful calming videos. 💕
What an insightful video, thank you for the reminder to be grateful in all circumstances. You are absolutely right, even in the midst of dark times, we can find hope and light.

Such a beautiful video and I really enjoyed it ❤️ Within these two years, I learned to cherish the happiness through serotonin and oxytocin like morning walks with my dog rather than through dopamine like better paychecks and shopping spree and it made the whole difference. It is in fact such simple things that could make you happy 🌸

Your voice is so soothing. Everything you say is so true! Happiness comes from within. It took me a long time to realize that I need to slow down and I can’t control everything. Everything doesn’t need to have an answer right away. Silence can be a good thing sometimes! Thank you for sharing. ❤

I finally bought my first akiya (unoccupied house) in Japan -- a kominka (old Japanese house). I have been teaching here since I arrived, but my desire is to just spend my time at my house, cleaning and renovating, and making films. Moving as if these things are already the reality is important. If we view them as "becoming" or "some day" or "in the future," then we cannot bring to life what we see in our minds.
Love this episode today, filled with enthusiasm and wonder!. Thank you.
Thank you for the beautiful messages. Keep them coming, living a simple authentic life is what life is about! Blessings
Wisdom from a Mexican fisherman: "Always be mindful of what your end goal is in business and in life!" A boat was docked in a tiny Mexican fishing village. A tourist complimented the local fishermen on the quality of their fish and... asked how long it took to catch them. "Not very long" they answered in unison. "Why didn't you stay out longer and catch more?" The fishermen explained that their small catches were sufficient to meet their needs and those of their families. "But what do you do with the rest of your time?" "We sleep late, fish a little, play with our children, and take siestas with our wives. In the evenings, we go into the village to see our friends, have a few drinks, play the guitar, and sing a few songs. We have a full life." The tourist interrupted, "I have an MBA from Harvard and I can help you! You should start by fishing longer every day. You can then sell the extra fish you catch. With the extra revenue, you can buy a bigger boat." "And after that?" "With the extra money the larger boat will bring, you can buy a second one and a third one and so on until you have an entire fleet of trawlers. Instead of selling your fish to a middle man, you can then negotiate directly with the processing plants and maybe even open your own plant. You can then leave this little village and move to Mexico City, Los Angeles, or even New York City!!! From there you can direct your huge new enterprise." "How long would that take?" "Twenty, perhaps twenty-five years." replied the tourist. "And after that?" "Afterwards? Well my friend, that's when it gets really interesting," answered the tourist, laughing. "When your business gets really big, you can start buying and selling stocks and make millions!" "Millions? Really? And after that?" asked the fishermen. "After that you'll be able to retire, live in a tiny village near the coast, sleep late, play with your children, catch a few fish, take a siesta with your wife and spend your evenings drinking and enjoying your friends." "With all due respect sir, but that's exactly what we are doing now. So what's the point wasting twenty-five years?" asked the Mexicans. And the moral of this story is: Know where you're going in life, you may already be there! Many times in life, money is not everything. “Live your life before life becomes lifeless”
