I love how you mix technique with strategy. I love how in depth you go into each topic. I have found a lot of good content on KZread, but you are producing at a whole other level. Plus you make me laugh. Thanks for all the tips.

    Love, love your videos Kyle. Totally stumbled upon them and subbed right away. Love all the graphics in your videos to emphasize what you're teaching. I want to get better at my kitchen play. Coming from a tennis background, i have to unlearn a few things and your videos help. Only been playing PB for about two months and my whole family is addicted. So much so , that we have been playing every weekend where we spend the whole day and bring tons of food and everything but the kitchen sink. LOL. We just played our first every tournament and 5 out of the 8 teams were my family. Hahhahaha. My mom and one of my uncles were the champs and they usually are when we play. Funny thing is, my mom can't run anymore and my uncle has a bum knee but they beat us all the time. Anyhow, so much fun and love watching your videos and hopefully I get bettter at this. I just have to stop thinking too much during a game. Not be so analytical that I end up making unforced errors. But one day, I'll be better. Thanks Kyle and take care

    Solid content! Thank you. I am a beginner and figuring out the dynamics of the kitchen. 2 questions. 1) When playing against better / more experienced players that try to get you to chicken wing. Aside from placing better shots what can be done to minimize the natural tendency to chicken wing? 2) If forced into the hip/chicken wing how can you best "survive" it? Thank you in advance! Keep the content flowing!

  • @thatpickleballguy

    Good question. You can slide to your right (if you're right handed) Or, you can try to do a pancake (I'll have to make a video on this) which is basically putting your paddle flat on the forehand side rigiht in front of you. If you ever watch Riley Newman, or go to youtube him if not, he does the pancake a lot when someone hits it to his chicken wing spot.

    That's a good idea. In a lot of ways, I'd recommend the same strategies. Of course, for some people may move a bit slower to that position, but the positions I talk about and the shot selection would still apply.

    Question about minute 4-5 where yourea talking about getyting out of being picked on. In my experience if someone is a lot better and they are even picking. And i dont mean like 5.0 vs 3.0 but even a 3.75 vs a 4.25 - those 4.25 will very quickly start pre-erning the down the line (get out of trouble) dink so they are pre-emptively countering your counter. So I dont think this will really work above 3.75-.4.0

    It definitely requires nuance. Sure if you do it every time, opponents will pick up on it and change the pattern.

    What paddle are you using in this video and is this your main one

  • @thatpickleballguy

    @thatpickleballguy

    4 ай бұрын

    Here’s the paddle I use. It’s the “power air” www.selkirk.com/products/vanguard-air-s2?variant=40179483344998 Note, I specifically use the “prestige color.” I haven’t run a test on this, but I think it has a little more spin than the other power airs. :) If you’re looking for a less expensive option, I’d go with this one - www.selkirk.com/products/slk-halo?variant=39964829188198 And, I prefer the “power” version. It still has very good touch, in my opinion, but has a little extra pop :) If you go with either of these use my code, “ADV-thatpickleballguy” and you’ll get a digital gift card toward a future purchase.

    @@thatpickleballguy I was just playing today and now I know why I've never seen it, cause it's very hard to hit it in the kitchen when your still new. Everyone just wants to make it over the net so we hit it hard enough to make it over. It takes skill and control to get it in the kitchen. I am now working on doing just that. (I'm playing elders at my local Y) so the skill range is low
