@@kadenbane you should call this name as sound in your game. reading your title is a little hard for foreign customers

Great video! Especially how to choose the publisher and make trailer. :)
I think the points you've raised for when interacting w/ publishers really stood out, thank you! (Bad Partners at 6:31)
Great vid! As a career marketer I can say that the initial list of things that might mean someone is in the consideration stage is completely whack though haha! If someone bookmarks your dev blog or google alerts, they’re not just thinking about your game, they’re likely super fans or on a totally peripheral track of just wanting to learn about a dev career. That’s your retention group

I was also thinking that if they already gave you their email (something most people ignore unless it seems official (like real mail)) then they already are willing to sacrifice their personal space to be a part of the game. Seems, odd, but maybe I'm just not in the know
Since im early i Just wanted to tell you how mutch i appriciate these videos, definitly one of my favorite gamedev channelsvon youtube ❤️

excellent video, very inspirational ! Thank you
These videos are truly awesome.
Have read the book; can confirm it's great!
Great video. I do have a tip for you. If you make a video that is part one, part two should be the first link in the description, that way you get more views on your videos.
Hey! Great video! Thanks for the tips and thanks for featuring The Blobs Fight!

One mistake Ask Gamedev makes- not posting the things in their list to the description. See below: 1. Not collecting any information 2. Not maximizing plaftorm opportunities 3. Not using Indexing Systems strategically 4. Having a bad name 5. Partnering with a bad publisher or PR / marketing Firm to announce and launch your game 6. Releasing a bad announcement trailer 7. Starting without knowing what your hook is
Very useful!
Thanks 4 funny, informative and structured tutorials. I can't find part 2 in relation to "Consideration" mistakes.

Those steam release statistics aren’t even that bad compared to the ones for the mobile app market. Estimates that I’ve seen, are estimating about 1000-2000 apps/day released on the Google Play store alone! That’s pretty overwhelming for somebody like me, who’s planning on releasing their game on mobile :(
*Use Clickbait* but deliver with the content

If your content delivers, you don't need clickbait. If anything with clickbait you just present good content to the wrong target audience.
Nice vid 👌
Here’s a naming idea for a game: The Design of the Name
Hey, thanks a lot for your videos! They are awesome! I have been looking for game marketing companies for a while, would you please recommend some.
heh, go the Raid Shadow Legend approach ahahahah
Or maybe just name a title like in recent Manga trend " I was jobless and reincarnate to become the most powerful magician and join the group of adventure to hunt dangerous monster to get the rarest ingredients for an alchemy ancient for the sake of world balancing". There, fantastic title
Icons: Combat Arena is a good example of a game that was hurt in large part due to it's name. Would you be able to guess from the title it was a 2D Platform fighter with a strong focus on high level play? I know my brain keeps scrambling it into a Quake clone's name.
@AskGamedev
5 жыл бұрын
You're right! The game looks really well done, but the word "Arena" does make you think of a different genre.
hi. tnx for the videos. is the consideration and conversion part ready??
this is fucking quality content!
Hi Gamedev, You've convinced me to buy the book "made to stick" but.... I have a really hard time trying to find your amazon link. I think it's a missed opportunity here to not add amazon links to the books you suggest in the videos.

That's a good point Zhuchang - noted. We hope you enjoy the book!
Have you done any videos on Love2d for Lua? We'd like to know what games have been made with it. Found a lot more commercial games made with Defold which from what I hear also uses Lua. Hope we didn't pick the wrong game engine. We really like love2d. Didn't know about Defold until recently.
Hey just a question. I made a game for phones (80% completed). I loved human fall flat, Bomb squad, Drive Ahead (phone game). So I am making a game like that in 2d, just today I found out my game look very similar to stickman fight the game (not better looking and mechanics). Can it be a problem? We are 2 man team and an undergraduate students. I do the visuals and my friend does coding.
Concerning the naming stuff, a name I've been considering for my game is "Good morning Alice" is that a good name? I'm asking cause I wanna make sure and I am paranoid about stuff like that
@giannistek1
5 жыл бұрын
I would say it sounds kind of normal. It doesnt really stand out. But it depends on the game you are making. If this name really fits with the game it's good enough.
WE ARE ASS GAMEDEV
Do we need to copyright idea nam3 or anything before releasing trailer of game if not when and how we use copyright.
Hi please make the videos on gaming books
Great tips. I am working on my first commercial game. But as you said if ask questions like that to the publisher won't I come of as too "cocky"(in lack of a better word)? Won't that ruin my relations with them? I really don't know what to do, since it's my first commercial game I don't really have much experience in actually selling the game(although I have been developing games for a good time now). Also I would greatly appreciate if you made a video of "How to sell your first game?" And btw I love your content

It's more important that you know what you're getting into. You have to be assertive or you may be exploited
@burn3rphon3

There's never anything wrong with just asking. In fact most publishers encourage you to ask as many questions as possible.

If the publisher doesn't like you asking questions, that's a good reason to find them suspicious.

When are the next two parts coming????
I cannot find the Mark Brown link
For anyone who watches this in 2020 or later: Number of steam games released actually went down to 8290 in 2019
Marketing? I have to do marketing? Erm. Brb.....
It boils down to having an actual enjoyable game in the first place. Many say it’s saturated and all this BS but they’re game looks like two wheat breads combined and labeled a sandwich😂. Then they say the market is saturated. Your going to need a strong sales team to sell that junk buddy.
Will Smith has been hooked
You guys have marketing budget

Cool
Where's the next part?
Like among us marketing mistake they made in 2018 And now the game is killing the internet

this advertisment was paid for and created by steam industry. note that the cheaply made character has a gear on his head. xD thats valves steamworks logo.
bro gf says all of u all english bois sound the sem person
That's insulting to sharks don't be cruel.
The entry level for game development is lowering, and with that a new heap of devs who wanna make a buck on their plain, boring, mediocre game and it's hurting everyone.
:)
doesnt mean a single thing when you have these fucking game jams which make games in 2 days, and toss it up on steam. 10k+ piles of shit released everyyear
:)
