7 INCREDIBLE Helicopters of the U.S. Military

Ғылым және технология

Military helicopters have been an integral part of the United States defense strategy for several decades. Despite the rapid advancements in technology and the introduction of newer aircraft, several helicopters have managed to stand the test of time and continue to serve in the U.S. military. These helicopters have undergone upgrades and modernizations to remain relevant and effective in their respective roles.
The longevity of these military helicopters serves as a testament to their enduring design and the continuous efforts to enhance their capabilities. Despite the relatively short history of aviation, these helicopters have surpassed the five-decade mark in service, highlighting their reliability and significance in military operations.
However, it is important to note that several helicopters on this list are anticipated to retire soon.

I hope this list wasn't in order. 😮 I served in the US military for 10 yrs two combat tours as an AH-64 D Apache Crewchief and worked for the Department of the Army for eight years at their Army helicopter depot in their fight test department working on and flying just about every helicopter in the United States inventory to include most of the aircraft on this list. Then I have worked in the UAE with aircraft that are from all the major militaries in the world. I can tell you for a FACT the Apache is the best helicopter on the planet. This is not me being biased this is just the reality. The AH-64D/E are the best helicopters in the world in any category you want to use outside of carrying equipment or people.

The V-22 is NOT a helicopter. It is a VTOL/STOL tiltrotor aircraft. It actually is closer to the AV-8b Harrier Jumpjet than a helicopter. This is why it has a “V“ designation and not a designation that includes an “H” like the CH-53E Super Stallion, the CH-53K King Stallion, the AH-1Z Viper, the AH-64 Apache, CH-47 Chinook and the UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters.
