Barcelona's team was so good that it bled into the national team, during those five years between 2008-2012 Xavi and Iniesta won the Euro in 2008, the Champions League in 2009, the World Cup in 2010, the Champions League in 2011, and the Euro in 2012. And in that time they completed a treble and won 6 trophies in one calendar year, something no team has ever done and hasn't done since. This current Real Madrid is really good, but that Barcelona team brought not only club football but international football to its knees.

Honestly I remember being like 12 and just watching Barcelona dominate everything, I mean at one point the top three players in the world were Messi, Xavi, and Iniesta. They were unstoppable and probably the best team I'll ever get to see. Real Madrid has been good lately but I'm not sure they'd be able to keep up with that Barcelona team

Some of the best teams to never win the World Cup: Brazil 1982, 1998, 1978, Holland 1974-1978, Hungary 1954. I am overall surprised that Brazil's 2002 team did not make this list.

Italy 2006 Was the greatest Modern Italian squad and probably one of the greatest Modern Football teams of all time. An All star roster that defied all odds to win the World Cup while Buffon only conceding 2 goals the entire tournament, an own goal and a penalty shot from Zidane. Too bad it was a one summer wonder team but a legendary one at that.

One of my favorite summer of sports was 2006 for sure. Buffon was the best goalkeeper in the world, and the defense was better than ever. Too bad they relied almost completely on starters, though. It was injuries and Managing shifts that ruined their chances at a euro two years later. And then managing mistakes that ruined their chances at a WC qualification this time around.

Interesting. For me, that Italy team is one of the worst modern winners of the world cup, and far from one of the best Italian teams. (Being the worst means the result was the most impressive, I'm not taking away anything from them, but I think they are worst in terms of play. Great mentality though, most players over performing, especially Grosso.) Though a great defensive side, they were not good offensively, compared to, let's say the 1994 Italy team (runner ups vs Brazil on penalties, i.e. losing on lottery to Dunga, Romario etc.) Just remember how hard a time Italy had against Australia.

Well Italy in the 90's (but also 80's, they won WC in 1982) had one of the best football team in history: it deserved at least a honorable mention...

Brazil 1982. I know, they won nothing, but surely the one national team that anybody who remembered seeing them play felt genuine sadness went they were beaten by eventual winners Italy in what many who witnessed the game describe as the greatest world cup game ever. Quite simply it had everything. Definitely my honourable mention. RIP Socrates. UNFORGETTABLE.

That team was champion but it was far from being one of the best Brazil squads. Remeber that the team suffered a lot until the WC, qualifying only on the last match against Venezuela, being knocked out of Copa America by Honduras and failing to get a medal at the Confederations Cup losing to.....Australia. Things were ok during the World Cup and other teams were not in their best form.

Italy never had a Team as dominant as the one in the 1930s again. Italy 1982 and Italy 2006 were by far not even the best Teams of their tournaments. In 1982 Brazil and France were the best Teams, and in 2006 Germany, France, Portugal, Argentina and Brazil were all equally good.

Italy 2006 maybe was not so strong like Brazil, Germany, France, Argentina, but we won because we had the best goalkeeper and the best defenders. Italy has never had a nice game, always boring... But we often had the best defense

Germany 2014 deserved a place, maybe not because of their Performance in the whole WC, even though they were awesome, but for their Performance in that Semi-final against Brazil. I haven't seen a Domination that strong against a Topteam like Brazil.

It didn't even have to do with the players themselves, the strategy they played, the strategy germany played in, it was too strong. And Thiago wasn't injured, he got a red card.

The problem is that Brazil in 1970 was very different from 1958/1962. Probably we should say the greatest ages of football and put Brazil 58-70 in the top, but not as a single team. Considering this, I would choose Netherlands 74-78 from your list.

I would also put an argument forward for Brazil 1994-2002. (a bit of a longer period sure, but there were common elements throughout the squads fielded.) they reached three successive WC finals. Winning two of them. And grabbed two Copa Americas in between. Boasting legendary players like Ronaldo, Romario and Cafu throughout in addition to the swan song of Dunga and the emegence of Ronaldinho, Rivaldo and many more.

Okay, so the Netherlands of 1974 only gets an honorable mention, because they didn't win a major tournament, but Hungary that didn't win one gets second place? Makes no sense, The Netherlands in 1974 was the best national team ever, despite them never winning a major tournament. 2010 still hurts.

Wilhelm Dietz best ever?? Better than Brazil 1970 or France, 98/2000 or Spain 08/2012. Really dude?? At some point you have to win TROPHIES. That has to be the true mark of a Best Ever football team. I'm all for supporting your nation but you have to consider the fact that their defence was NOT good enough to stop them not only losing matches but losing FINALS. How can you logically make a case for the best team ever (you're own words) when you're teams defensive play allows opponents to score goals knocking them out of tournaments at the Final stage. I agree, it must hurt to see your nation fail in the final. I don't understand what you base your best ever national team theory on. It's certainly not the Dutch defence. A Best Ever team has to be able to Defend as well as Score, dude.

+perrynn lynch I'll admit, I'm Dutch (though I could've been German, looking at my name, so you just assumed I was Dutch by my comment ;)) and I may be a little biased. However, trophies don't mean that much to me when you have a team that actually managed to change how an entire game was played, a game that was already around for an entire century. People started to copy "Total Football" BECAUSE they acknowledged that this was the best way to play this game. Everytime you look at Barcelona, or at least that team from a few years ago, or the Spanish national team from that time, you are actually looking at the Dutch team from '74. I mean, come on, if that's not a more impressive accomplishment than winning a few trophies, then I don't know what is.

Wilhelm Dietz This video is about absolute dominant teams. Hungary has lost only once between 1949 and 1956 while the Netherlands lost a few times between 1972 and 1976. Germany was a little bit better than Netherlands in 1974. Hungary was absolutely dominant in 1954. The only match they lost was the world cup final where they scored two goals in the first 9 minutes.

I think Brazil from 1994-2002 was the greatest, they went to 3 WC final and won 2 of them, also won back to back COPA cup, in 1996 and 1999. And the players from the generation were just too good, no team can ever compare to them.

There is an older team which had to be on the list: Uruguay 1924-1930, AND Brazil should be from 1958-1970. They dominate more than a whole century.Also Germany 2014-now and Argentina 1984-1990.

2002 Brazil was really overrated. People often forget that two major favorites were robbed by Korea in that world cup. Italy and Spain. Go check out a video on that disgusting robbery. But if they were still in the tournament then I wouldn't have been Surprised if Brazil lost

@@drewmcintyre3936 Agreed, think too many people only just look at the team on paper(which was amazing no doubt!) and automatically call them legendary without actually looking at how they played in that world cup. Ronaldo and Rivaldo played great but they played no quality teams since all the strong teams were knocked out early either becasue they flopped(like France and Argentina) or got screwed over by the ref(like Italy and Spain). They played very pragmatic Scolari style football, nothing like the brazil teams of old.

It's a pity that former Yugoslavia fell apart in 1992. Their team would have had easily dominated the world footbal from 1992 to 1998. Denmark took their place in Euro Cup 1992 and they won. Germany from 2014-2017 should get an honorable mention because they won the WC in Brazil (ft the 7-1 win over Brazil)...they broke the records for greatest WC qualifying campaign ever...and they won the Confederations Cup with their B team. Their tactics were too good and very similar in both tournaments..they lacked an out and out striker often yet found ways to experiment with false 9s and changing from 3 at the back to 4 at the back in often times...I know this team isn’t as good because of their not as good performance in Euro 2016 but they should get at least an honorable mention for the all the other things I mentioned

The best national football team that I have ever seen was Brasil 1982 with Falcao Socrares Zico Eder Junior etc etc..they were incredible.

Brazil of 94-2002 should be in the conversation as one of the greatest... they won the World Cup in 94, won the Copa America 97, confed cup 97, finalist in 98 World Cup , won the Copa America in 99 and won the World Cup in 2002 as well Ps. could have won three in a row if Ronaldo did not have his convulsions episode (we will never know really)
