I've found skincare with panthenol really helps my rosacea. My favorites are Laroche-Posay Cicaplast Balm B5, Timeless B5 Serum, and CosRX B5 D-Panthenol Cream. For instant relief, NIOD's Modulating Glucosides is unbeatable and worth the money! I also find anything with mugwort is great, too (Artemisia). For that, I use Time Revolution Artemisia Treatment Essence and I'm From's Mugwort Mask. Laroche-posay's Rosaliac AR serum works pretty well, too. For long-term and prevention, I find using a lot of ceramides keeps my skin in better shape overall and keeps the redness down. I use CeraVe PM during the day since it works well under makeup (it's a gel/lotion consistency) and Stratia's Liquid Gold at night. The Liquid Gold is fantastic, but I have to use a more occlusive moisturizer over it at night. I don't mind, because that stuff is fantastic! Good luck in finding your Holy Grails!! It took me years to find what works for me!!

For me Geek and gorgeous stress less serum. Aveeno Calm and restore moisturizer. Finacea (azelaic acid prescription) Sunscreens- Aveene intense protect and MD solar science mineral sunscreen. Also Regimen Lab has reformulated their wave serum and I was part of a group that was testing it and it really helped skin, so much so that I begged for them to sell me some because It hasn’t launched yet. It will be called wave 2.0. Everything the other person posted gave me major irritation especially the Niod product. Im suuuper reactive

Man, you got me all excited about that Wave serum but then I saw it has urea in it 🥺 I've always wanted the benefits of urea, but it's way too strong and irritating for my rosacea 😢 I love G&G, but the Stress Less doesn't seem to be doing anything for my skin 🤔 I'm about halfway through my bottle, though, so maybe it just takes time? 🤷🏻‍♀️ I also love the Aveeno Calm & Restore Cleanser. Very soothing as a second step cleanse! I love hearing what everyone uses!

@@gategirl66 Bariéderm Cica gel-cream from Uriage might be a good choice as well - it also contains Centella asiatica and (more over!) it's unscented. I'm gonna try it. Dr.Dray, I'd really like a future video regarding summer skincare for redness prone skin, especially considering that many products for rosacea are addressed to dry skin. However, despite my chronic redness, I'm quite oily.

A little off topic, but I recently cut out almonds in my diet. I used to get horrible, painful, cystic acne, redness, peeling, and tightness and within a few weeks of cutting them out, my face has cleared completely. Almonds made my throat itch and swell as well, turns out I had a sensitivity to them all along!

I have rosacea, and alcohol was always the biggest trigger (I don’t drink anymore). Indian food was the biggest food trigger. My rosacea is much better now, though. I found a skincare routine that really works for me. Clay mask, such as French green, bentonite, or rhassoul, has helped tremendously. Retinol serum at night, and vitamin c or niacinamide in the am, with lots of sunscreen. I barely flush at all now, and my skin is so much healthier. It’s amazing, compared to where my skin was 5 years ago. Thanks again for another informative video 😀

Glad you brought this up. I have rosacea. No products help if you keep consuming the "trigger". For me it is deep fried foods. That makes me have a full on rosacea breakout with pustules. Spicy food can bother me depending on how spicy or the amount. I can use a dash of hot sauce but not a super spicy entree. I can consume one alcoholic beverage or beer but no more than that. Wine is a NO for me though. Sometimes it is the quantity of these things, so everything in moderation. Coffee and tea do not cause a problem for me. I wonder if it depends on what else is going into your beverage. I do not do dairy anymore for other reasons yet that improved my rosacea tremendously. When I have a flare, I use a redness reducing moisturizer and use an Aveeno cleanser. That combo helps tremendously.

I have been using red lcombined with Amber light for rosacea for years since I saw KZread "Red and Amber Light Therapy" on Rosie Julie BC Channel. It changed my life. It doesn't cure rosacea but brings down the inflammation immensely. I used the light daily.

Thank you for discussing this topic. In addition to some of the foods you mentioned, I’m also sensitive to tea (black, green, white) of any temperature. According to the internet…it blocks DAO, the enzyme that breaks down histamine. I’m no scientist but in my actual experience, if I drink tea my face gets red and swollen and itchy, and will stay that way until I take an antihistamine. It’s really annoying to be sensitive to so many things, it only started for me four years ago suddenly and I don’t know why. Taking generic Zyrtec every day helps some.

Dairy is certainly an issue for causing pustules and accompanying redness on my cheeks. Lactose free products have been very helpful. Candida is an issue for me.I noticed sulphur rich foods are a problem, such as garlic, broccoli, eggs, chickpeas. Within an hour of ingesting these foods my face is bright red. I know some people have an overgrowth of sulphur ingesting bacteria in the gut which is a culprit. If I take diamacateous earth daily I can tolerate more of these foods. Sulphur rich supplements are an issue as well like MSM, milk thistle, alpha lipoid acid, n acetyl cysteine, and turmeric. So yeah the gut is a huge trigger. Thanks Dr Dray.

I have found that foods high in sulphites (wines, vinegars, dried fruits, dried meats/charcuterie, bottled citrus juice concentrates, and condiments) instantly trigger my rosacea. When I drink wine with no added sulphites, I do not get an instant rosacea episode. When I have a single glass of regular wine my skin almost instantly looks sunburnt and mottled.

Heat and friction are also big triggers (hot beverages, hot weather, saunas, hot yoga, exercise, facials). Interestingly, for me, alcohol spirits don't cause an instant reaction - if I have one or two mezcal or tequila's on the rocks, or a vodka and sodas, it doesn't cause any redness. But anything with lemon/lime bar mix, or regular wine - before I finish 1/4 of a glass...boom! I look like I have spent a week on the beach with no sunscreen.

The only thing was, hot/steaming foods like hot soup, did cause flushing, but none of the actual food ingredients had anything to do with it. I was pretty surprised but not disappointed because it meant I could eat everything! (Though I should note, I never drink alcohol so that wasn't part of my experiment, and I don't know if it would affect me or not.)

I have rosacea and very oily skin. Spicy foods and red wine are my main triggers. I also avoid the sun like the plague and definitely wear sunscreen just as you always advocate to everyone Dr. Dray. Thank you for the informative video! BTW I thought that oregano is an herb. Didn't know it can be a redness trigger.

I have most of those food triggers, except fatty foods & niacin containing foods. I turn red and get itchy pustules on my face. My face gets swollen. Type 2 rosacea is no fun. ☹️

Spicy foods Hot liquids heavy moisturizers heat from cell phone I do need to observe if Tomatoes, Cinnamon and potatoes cause triggers. What I have noticed is that I switched to Tirtir korean skincare and .I we t from nightly flareups to hardly any. I am not sure which ingredient is helping, so I need to do more research on each ingredient.

I cut out alcohol, and it has helped. Hot and spicy foods, it depends. I have had times when I cannot eat even soup.. I do not know or think tomato is a trigger for me, but I eat it often; I wonder if I cut it out for a while if I would see a difference.

I have suffered with Type 1 Rosacea for years, but I find that almost no food will cause me to flush unless it's too hot! I really don't drink alcohol but some types of foods might give me some discomfort. I think Type 2 Rosacea with the papules and bumps is more sensitive to food allergies, etc. Maybe it's only my experience though!

Great video, Dr. Dray! Appreciate your calm, sensible approach & extensive knowledge. I have rosacea - alcohol & hot beverages cause flushing for me. Luckily I don’t care for alcohol so easy to abstain. LOVE spicy Mexican, Indian & Thai food tho - I’d be bummed if those were a trigger for me! 🌶 Hugs 🤓

Very good. A doctor prescribed Polysporin and it destroyed my skin. I've never been able to get it back. I do, however, use oatmeal. Mix oatmeal with water and make a paste to wash your face (mix it well so it is soft and not abrasive on the skin). Wash with your hands and then apply your moisturizer. I've found Aveeno Calm+Restore moisturizer is very good; doesn't have a lot of heavy perfumed ingredients. Not the absolute best for dry skin, but you can supplement with something on top.

I haven't experienced much with facial redness aside from acne, but citrus and tomatoes were major triggers of either sinus headaches or rashes when I was a kid, and sometimes chocolate would give me headaches as well. Your explanation makes me wonder if cinnamaldehyde had anything to do with my allergic reactions or if it was a different compound. Thankfully, my parents were able to set up allergy shots for me so I could eat pizza and oranges without getting rashes.

I believe I am forced to admit and accept that my trigger is red wine. And I think my body has been telling me that for awhile. I used to love red wine. Now it's more of a habit -- Pizza = wine; (lean) steak = wine; social event = wine. But lately I'm just not feeing the love. My rosacea is on high alert- even with Doxy and a topical. So I'll start there. No wine. Because I'm not giving up Mexican, Indian and Thai food.

Wow, feeling pretty lucky that my only triggers seem to be alcohol (which I don’t even like) and hot (temperature, not spiciness) drinks and foods (and only when my skin is extra sensitive). I live on curries, Mexican food and anything spicy and chocolate is usually incorporated into my breakfast, so thank gawds 🙏
