7 Essential Aux Channel (Send/Return) Tips Every Producer MUST Know!

Here are 7 essential aux channel techniques to get your music sounding better - regardless of DAW or genre!
So this month I’m trying out 2 vids a week. Monday and Wednesday is gonna be a quick tip. I’m taking excerpts from some of my older vids, my courses, as well as throwing in some brand new material.
Each Friday will - as always - be a brand new vid.
I really appreciate the support you’ve all given me over the past (almost) 5 years, and I’d absolutely love to hit 100,000 subscribers this year.
When that happens, I’ll be giving away a brand new MacBook Pro, loaded with software for music production (probably Ableton 11 Suite and a few other choice plugins), as well as some top quality headphones and a MIDI controller.
Hope you enjoy this vid, and catch you on Wednesday!

As always: Very inspiring! Thank you! I love the idea with the different delays in one Send-Channel and the compressor-thing. Great! I can‘t wait to test it. And now I know how to send different drum-rack-sounds to a Send-Channel. I was wondering FOR YEARS how to do this. Right mouse click… Things can be so easy. 😁 One video-wish: Could you do a video about how to deal with phase cancellation or how to mix a song that sounds good in mono and stereo?

@@EDMTips It would be great if you could do a video on how to refresh and excite your passion when you've been away from producing for a few months. I have this issue right now, i'm at intermediate level at best, i took 4 months out and i now feel that i've forgotten everything i learnt :(

@@EDMTips I would love one on twisting and chopping samples. Its early on in my production life and I am quite sample based at the moment. I love finding one or two samples and twisting them throughout the track to create a vibe. Would be great to see your take on how to easily manipulate, warp, change and basically completely mess around with a sample so that it sounds completely different. If not that...then creating space in the mix and having everything sound so clear would definitely be of interest. Thanks for the reply! Love the videos. Big Up!

@@EDMTips I’ve thought a lot about this. What can I say, you’ve been incredibly generous as it is. Three things that I wonder about: what makes elements come to the front and back of a mix; how to mix our drums so that they’re not crowded in the center (a proper mix sounds both driving from the center but also spread out); maybe a video that talks about the structure of different elements like fills, tension build up to a break, tension build up in general, etc. That last one is stuff you cover in your “how to make a song like” series, but this would be a shorter reference-like video.
Btw saturator on a return track is also very useful.

gold - can we also use an aux channel for side chain for routing pads and other tracks for that pump effect?
Wonderful explanation, thank you very much! One question: Does the order in which I send matter? E.g. You want to have your Echo (D) before your Room (A) - would you have to change the order of your AUX channels or does that not matter at all as you use them as sends instead of inserts?
Have you released that track..?? Among a few good tunes..perfect 👍👏🏻👌 💯
TIP 6, I will use it on a remix I am working this week. 🙏🙏

I have sent your video to my Mastering in FL Studio KZread playlist. Sorry, but I haven't found a decent edm mastering track yet (at least for #FLStudio). I really love how your tracks sound. A #FlatMastering, to give a clear and clean sound, with such rich harmonics, with those warm mids, and that characteristic sound. That's what I hate about the finished FL Studio tracks that I always hear out there (including from some "PRO" channels). They all sound #equalized at the end of their mix. Which will further degrade its quality once released. When people EQ it AGAIN later because they want a nice sound, which will make it sound dark and over-equalized. On purpose. Excellent track! Greetings from Argentina.
cool
Should i gain stage in aux send / fx send track?
Within the drum rack, how can I create more than 6 return channels? It gives me an error, "no commands available". I need at least 16 return channels for the whole kit.
If your FX are on a send/return, what happens to them when you export your stems for mixing?
@EDMTips

They'll get bounced out as separate stems
