Even regular paper towels that come off the 4egular size... I often reuse each paper towel. I've just washed my hands with soap and water, dry them and leave the towel on counter or table. It dries very quick so next time I wash my hands ,I use the same towel ,again, maybe even a third time. Or after using it once or twice,I might need it to dry up some lil mess. I reuse towels often

I like that your front curtain hangs flat like a wall, rather than a gathered curtain. It ads to the stealth.

Yes it does! And we just had an experience 3 days ago where it was it was evening, but still quite light out - we were in a parking lot with no signs whatsoever about parking or no parking, but a security guard was repeatedly making his rounds, and we saw him drive around us several times (we were looking out our tinted windows which he couldn't see in). He was very close, checking out our van. But every time, he kept driving and we never got the knock; we stayed all night and got good sleep.
I have used an old fashioned hat pin to keep the paper towel roll from unraveling. Just jab it into the end of the paper towels. They don't go anywhere.
@TimAndShannonLTD

Hi Fran - thanks for sharing that!
Its those small things like feral cords, possessed paper towels and your fridge lid flopping down on you that wear you down. They don’t bother you on day 1, or day 31. But by day 101, OH MY FRIKKIN GOD! 🤯🤬😖 Those were some simple, non complicated fixes, that got the job done.

LOL yes indeed Linda. Glad you like them and thank you for your comment! 😜
For the paper towel problem, I use Viva brand. It appears to cost a little more but it’s a higher quality paper and packed tight. With it being packed as tight as it is, it doesn’t unroll and it seems to last forever. It also gives you select-a-size and I find that with the good quality weave I often only need the half piece anyway. Thanks for the video.

This is the first video I have seen that addresses the issue of needing to get into the garage space while it is raining. Now that you mention this that should be a consideration when designing the garage/electrical system so the batteries, charge controller and stuff stored back there aren’t getting wet every time the rear doors are opened when it’s raining.

@@TimAndShannonLTD I just brought home a fridge/freezer just like that, not even unboxed yet. I love your door open clip, but if the fridge was further away from the wall, wouldn't the door lean against the wall and not fall shut? For paper towels and toilet paper, I squeeze them flat, then flat the other way, then make them round again. It unrolls slowly, not puddle on the floor. To keep the wind off, I probably would have put a little plexiglass or other small wall to keep the door breeze away. :) These are Real van hacks, not just pretty boxes and lipstick solutions. I subscribed after watching only this video. Well done. I hope my no-build minivan camper works half as well. Jon in rural BC, Canada

Cup hooks, yes, some of the other we have but the black out curtains are only half height and that is enough, The back door curtain we are working on. Our van has too much grey, so buying a roll of flowery wall paper, covering the side window screens and rear door centres.

Fun! Enjoy your build!
cool tips, nice one. but one thing about having metal exposed, you really shouldn't expose in inside habitat to the outer shell metal. The reason is the temperature difference and the habitat has humidity from your breath. So if the temperature outside is colder then the humidity will sit on the metal and drip. Causes a lot of damp and mould issues. The solution is a vapour barrier - and of course with a bit of insulation too. For the doors (im just building my van) I will only have a vapour barrier so its sealed off
@TimAndShannonLTD
8 ай бұрын
Oh yes, we know about humidity! Our breath was condensed all over the inside of the van last winter! Most was OK when the van heater kept things warm, but with the insulated window coverings up, the glass stayed very cold and we had a lot of moisture because of it.

@@TimAndShannonLTD interesting, as I am currently early stages of my van build, your message has given me an interesting thing to consider. How I can vapor barrier my window without it looking bad. Great tips, I was hoping to use the drawer tip, but there is an oven on one side of our drawers and camper exterior wall on the other side, right now I am using bungee cords.
