    I hate to be redundant...but the Daytona 955i was a shocker to me, purchased on a whim off Ebay for $3500.00 6,800 mile MINT!!!Doesn't measure up to my Duc999 w/ FBF bore kit, Ohlins, Marchesinis, Corse cams...but at 955cc it rips...and flies under the insurance radar at below 998-999cc.. add 17T front, 46T rear sproxs, TOR exhaust Tune ECU map,...it's fun... a great bike for beginners looking to move up from 400-600cc ..Insurable above everything else!

    @@PEIRDO777 Yep, the British are unpredictable, to say the least. And the Americans, I'd rather not disqualify them all, though temptation complies my moral constituation. What was the question, again? And what have rhetorical questions to do with language? It has to do with culture, and I can tell you, your English is so clear, nothing is lost in translation. Sure, my English is limited. Just don't forget one thing, I hate people using abstract and complicated language without good reason. Keep it simple, translate all those Latin words to English, make it easier to understand your point. There are exceptions, using one professional's word could be shorter. Some people misunderstand my wish for clarity, they tell me I'm stupid. Usually they are the ones being not so smart. So, yeah, being an old Dutch man has its disadvantages. But I can tell you, there are Dutch men having less talent for language. Happily there is also a Dutch man lecturer at Princeton, guys like him have far more practice talking American than your humble servant, Voor Naam

    You cant have this list without the 2004-2005 R1. It IS in the price range and is WAY better than the 1998-99 R1. It is still one of the sexiest and still modern looking bikes ever made. Amazing engine too that takes well to bolt ons and tune.

    $1,800 for my 5th gen Interceptor. It's not as far as some of the other bikes here. But I'd take it over most of them. These gear driven cam motors are famous for going over 100,ooo miles with no maintenance. It loops 1st gear if you hold is open, stands straight up if you clutch it at 60mph and corners way better than either of the 900's I've owned. All while being comfortable and sounding like a quiet MotoGP bike.

    Only problem with the early R1's is second gear was weak. If it has very many miles and was rode moderately hard second gear is probably missing a couple teeth. Same for the FZ1's since they used the same engine. The Exxup valve likes to stick too. I have a 98R1 and a 00 ZX9R. Don't forget about the ZX12.

I've ridden newer bikes since and it was my favorite bike I've ever ridden. Had I kept it I would have done BST CF wheels, ported and polished head, cams, Brembo MC and gotten more serious about removing weight. God I loved that bike

    To someone like me that doesn’t have much money, $4000 is a fortune. I live in the UK and I paid £1400 for a year 2000 FZS600 and that was all I could afford. £2000 upwards is an unattainable dream. I think you need to reassess what constitutes “dirt cheap”. To me, dirt cheap is £500. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    Yes, a 20 year old liter bike that was known in its day as the "widowmaker" due to its unpredictable handling and instability at high speeds, a great recommendation especially for someone watching this looking for their first big bike, what could go wrong lol

  • @kasper79

    @kasper79

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@BigUriel I think you should read up on the bike. The widowmaker was the tl1000s which used a rotary damper not on the TL1000R. The tl1000s also has a different frame then the tl1000r. The unpredictable of the TL1000S came from its rotary damper and the rear shock. When you cook the rear shock and the rear wheel won’t have much traction, which can easily put you on your ass when you overpower the tire with the abundant torque of the V-twin. You can do this on most liter bikes. If you're getting into a liter bike and don't understand the amount of torque you have on your hands, then maybe stick to a 600cc or lower.

    @@kasper79Actually the R had the rotary dampener as well as the S. The S got branded the widow maker because of their propensity to go full tank slap at a moments notice, which is why Suzuki immediately installed the steering damper after numerous test riders were killed.
