This is, without question, the finest saltwater fly-fishing film I have EVER seen. Among many other things, the concept of having the GUIDES do the fishing and talking was BRILLIANT. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful place and extraordinary fishing with us.

I've fished Alphonse/St.Francois. Absolutely breathtaking in every way. The only problem it imposes is that nowhere else thereafter seems to offer the same combination of Paradise and fishing. I say that having fished quite a bit of the world. And the fishing defies belief, it's SO good. I even had a milkfish whilst casting in hope off the reef on the run-off, for bones. It was only a couple of pounds but it ran me bloody ragged. Add giant trevally, blue trevally, and ......... I could go on and on. The GTs know the coordinates of every coral head in the Indian Ocean. You will need spare everything. Trust the guides - they know everything. This is a ruinously expensive venue: thank goodness my visit was a press trip. But if your funds run to it, then go. Damn the divorce. What does she know?

I've been fully obsessed with Geet since I saw them eat, and how ferocious they are. It's a battle between man and Geet, and it's one where man is at the disadvantage. Damn, awesome video, what a tremendous place.

Great film and awesome watching you guys fighting the GTs. May I suggest you put an electrical tape where the rod connects together this will prevent the rod section from coming apart when you do hooked into good size fish. We do that here in Alaska. The rod can come apart when you put a lot of casts into them even with the good name brand rods. Please fish responsibly for we wouldn’t want to see fish swimming around with fly line , backing and rod tips in there mouths. You boys were lucky!

Hi Ron, thanks for the comment and glad you enjoyed it. Re electrical tape for the rod joints we do that in the freshwater, but if you do it in the salt the tape actually melts and then you can’t get it apart at all…😄 I actually ended up having to snap a clients today once so he could take it home….

I've caught a big trigger and I can confirm that they are strong fish. That fight might have actually been the strongest fight I've had. It was that or a 37" redfish.

Peter McLeod they definitely will whip an average king! The monsters we get in the Kenai would be about the only thing that could compare to the strength of those GT's. Get some darn good runs and fights out them. Both special fish and places but you are right those GT's have some amazing stamina and ferociousness and would whip a king. ;) On the radar for sure to go fish for them. Loved the video and the glimpse into your world of guiding! It'd be fun to not have to wear a bunch of layers to stay warm and dry all the time while guiding! Ha

Keith has just dropped the rod but in his pocket and then put the chest strap on the upper part. There are many ways of carrying a second rod on the flats, guides often do this for a quick fix. I use this system kzread.info/dash/bejne/Za2Yp5ZrZprgoJs.htmlsi=UUcjxjzsRqoxiLx0

@@Belbivdevoe He is saying use surf wax for ferrule wax. The only thing is most of the reels in the video are Orvis reels so I am assuming Orvis rods; and every Orvis rod comes with a little puck of ferrule wax in a green plastic case.
