What breaking strain [ trace and main ] do they use on the GT's to get them on a fly rod?

We normally use level 120 - 150 lbs mono… no trace….. this is generally for abrasion resistance rather than breaking strain…

@@AardvarkMcLeodFlyFishing It baffles me that with normal game gear from a boat or shore they use such full on kit and these are with a fly rod [ obviously not a brown trout one ] and are not stripped of all their line. How long does a battle last on average?

Can anyone tell me why do GT come to the shallows? Do they do this all year round? Is there any 30kg or bigger coming?

CRush prey on the beach or rocks. Yes most of the year they hunt the shallows
