7 Days In the Bush Survival Fishing Adventure in the Wilderness
#Wilderness #Survival #Fishing #Wilderness
Watch Myself Ted Baird and Brother Jim Baird, the winners of Alone on History , team up with Shawn James of the Channel My Self Reliance, as we set out for a 7 day Wilderness Back country survival Brook trout Fishing adventure deep into Canada's Algonquin Park.
We planned half our food to come from the land in the way of fish making this a semi survival journey largely dependant on successful fishing.
The three of us would travel 120km and portage 16km deep into the bush and the legendary Canadian Algonquin wilderness with everything we needed for the duration of the journey on our persons.
Each day we catch and cook fresh fish over a fire and we employ bushcraft and camping skills on the go to complete the journey. We also rendezvous with fellow outdoorsman Scott and Griffin of Drenalin Adventures deep in the backcountry where they had a few huge fish to show off. Including an 8-9 lb Lake Trout
We see a total of 7 moose including two Bulls and three Calves two of which were just born twins! We catch plenty of fish including a 21inch Brook Trout just shy of 4lbs! We endure harsh cold weather and plenty of rain it is an adventure for the books.
Hope you Enjoy. Please Subscribe:

Great video work, Ted. A huge challenge to create a two and a half hour long paddlelog that keeps the viewer engaged and captivated. Yet the first words out of my mouth: "what! it's over already?" demonstrates how successful you were. I've watched all three video versions of this canoe trip and yours gets 5 thumbs up - darn it, no way to rate in youtube yet.

What an incredible journey and adventure this was; Its 4yrs ago I'm catching up. Yr camera work, the steadiness u film with, we actually get to be in the view so to speak. I was amazed at all of you, what an inspiration! I'm glad to see good & strong tough guys for a change, with all the negative, competitiveness and nasty behaviours praised today. Thank-you Boys❣️

🎙💨Love your Toyota brother, I own a 1998 Ford Explorer 4x4 XLT, it was left to me by my uncle (Purple Heart Vietnam veteran, Army Ranger, Uncle Eddie) in mint condition when he passed away. I was doing a 15 year stint when he was ill and to this day I feel crushed I wasn’t around to help my mother take care of her little brother. He swiftly passed away eventually in 2007. But yeah people always want to upgrade their vehicles by buying a new one when it’s so much cheaper to upgrade the vehicle you have. So I treat my 4x4 with love as it is part of my uncle who cherished her also. I chose to get a Harley instead of a new 4x4 or Mercedes Benz. Lol!! Morale of the story there is none!!! Hahaha!!! Nice Ontario Nipissing country ! In looking at your paddling technique, the best way for me is ,before starting, put the middle of your paddle on top of your head, then make a rectangle with your arms at 90* degrees. This will give you the reference to put the stopping rubbers, on both sides. It will help you in your quick moves and to not overturn on the water. Anyone wanting to do the Matapedia river in the Gaspe, in Quebec, RSVP. I have lots of lakes and rivers for you to enjoy the great Canadian outdoors !

Wow I love to watch videos like this! I have been to Algonquin on canoe trips like this. It has brought back the memoirs. First trip was good but second was fantastic. The potage the paddling the sites and sounds from both trips will never be forgotten. The moose and loons we saw daily. Listening to the wolves at night, the giant snake we saw, the blue berries we ate with the fresh water clams. It was unbelievable how that whole area was lumbered out years ago and now so grown up. 100% both beautiful
For trout I would recommend catching minnows, crawfish, bottom feeders etc and using their meat on the end of your lure. The familiar scent and taste will get fish to bite. Fish can be hesitant to bite something that doesn’t taste right. That and the good ol worm!!!! It might take some extra time in preparation, but overall you tend to catch more. My favorite is crawfish tail meat, without the shell, on the end of a panther martin spinner ;). If you get skunked someday try that!
