Be careful cooking in some cans and how you cook it some cans can leach toxins when cooked on the open flames that might be why you both got headaches maybe me and my cousin got in trouble as kids when we cooked food in it's can we got headaches and migraines and didn't feel so good that next day love your videos so awesome

You might also consider carbon monoxide poisoning. It has those same symptoms and what is really sneaky about it is the effects are cumulative, meaning after inhaling those fumes over a period of time (campfires), it takes very little of the fumes to give you a blinding head ache. Been there done that.

Rich Evans, Relaxing? Try boring. No wonder they have headaches. These people think bacon is a vegetable. They should look up the word “Nitrate”. Nasty chemicals in that stuff.

Please make more videos! I went to Wabun in 1979-1982 before cell phones and go pros! I love seeing the Temagami area and finally being able to show friends what tripping in Canada is really like. I remember being kind of miserable with the bugs and tough portages, but at the end of the summer, I felt so gratified and proud. It is the reason I wasn't intimidated by joining the US Army. If you get thru a summer tripping in Canada, you can do anything! Wabun and Ontario are some of my most treasured memories. Thank you again!

Wow that pike catch was awesome! This looks like such a good time.

Catching up on the videos as I'm a sort of a newbie watching them... Bella is wonderful. She has so much instinct for hunting and is all GO! My lab came from duck hunting stock and always went in the canoe but he was older and so he loved the ride and his chin was usually resting on a thwart but when outside of the canoe.. was like a whirl wind! LOLOL. I had several breeds of dogs but I surely loved that lab! I love the relaxing sound of the campfire and the swish of the paddles. Thanks so jmuch!

Once again, I watched the whole vid... but alas, no popcorn!!! Ha! I was telling Heather on Insta how bad I want to get up there and visit Temagami. Ever since I saw Les Stroud up there years ago, that area has been on my bucket list! Just a beauty place with eye candy for miles and miles. Great job on the whole video Ted... Temagami is a gem 4 sure what is so amazing to me is that you can paddle in almost any direction no matter where you are so much water and interconnected waterways and so unused. Hey Skorp! Ya man we are crazy lucky with the water we have and the wilderness that is left. Simply incredible. Its funny thought cause Aus is on my bucket list lol but so is much of the Canadian Wilderness. This place Temagami on Ontario Canada you can literally paddle in any direction so many options and further north in Ontario is much the same but crazy remote. Then there are the arctic rivers the mountain rivers and the rugged rivers of the east coast its a water wonderland of real mind blowing adventure opportunities. there is nothing else like it. ✌️

Love watching you and Jim's adventures especially the one's you guys do together . I live in northern Indiana but spent a lot of time camping in Ontario when I was younger with my dad . I am sure if he was still alive we would still be heading there a few times a year for the fishing .

Hi Janet. Heather says hi. Thank you for the kind words. Maggie sounds like and awesome dog. Bella like Maggie is actually a mix her mother was a pure bred yellow lab and the father a purebred german shorthair pointer. We are not sure if she got the brown from the lab or the piointer. everyone thinks she is a chocolate lab she looks just like one. She def loves the water took to it faster than any dog ive hadshes pretty fearless. Thanks a lot for following along glad you enjoyed it. Take care

My parents raised dogs and I've known all breeds. Her color would be from the pointer and her uncontrollable energy also. She's smart and adorable and wants to please. She will learn. I love her already and would hate for her to grab a fish on a hook. Watched a couple more of your videos and totally enjoyed those too. Keep up the great footage and "being alive."

I agree with you about Bella and her color and energy lol Ive seen some lab litters where they got some black yellow and brown so I couldn't be sure but I would have bet my $ that it came from the Pointer. There were 3 brown 3 black and 2 yellow with one a mucht whiter yellow. Our biggest concern is the fish hook 4 sure. She is a Lovely dog even if she is bonkers sometimes lol

Something that you can get for Bella is called horse spray keeps the flies off of them and it's safe good for dogs as well

Hey Brad, Yes I hope she gets better. She is actually pretty good in the canoe as long as there is no bird or animal near buy or your fishing. She does well in rapids but wont run around on shore as she freaks that we r leaving and immediately swims after us so so far we have just run things with her as of now haha it is interesting. She is getting better and Im sure she will continue to learn. Ive heard other GSP's have the same issues with fishing also. All in all she is a great dog though.

Awesome video guys, great fishing. Bella is definitely a high energy dog. Our Vet said we could give our dog Molly [ also high energy] Benadryl for long trips, we've done it once and it calmed her down a bit but we don't make it a habit. Anyways, again AWESOME trip! Hey Hellen. Yes there was a big group I believe a camp of young adults right across from us they were having a great time swimming and just enjoying the evening. But of course the sound carries over water lots especially on a calm evening like we had. Of course we hoped to have the lake to ourselves lol but happy neighbors is always welcome. Another great vid. Keep em coming Ted. The headache was probably a combo' of dehydration and sunshine but I've got a few buddies in our climbing club that swear white wine is the culprit. Maybe try red or stick to beer and see if it works for you?

Ohhh such a lovely relaxing video. scenery, sounds, fish, you portaging not me;). Never ceases to amaze me how sound bounces around on still water. I've trained a couple of dogs or so, just wondering in the canoe about using a short (short enough that she can't jump around much) quick release leash attached to the centre of the canoe on Bella to help her understand where her place is in the canoe. Maybe a harness on Bella not a collar. When fish on, the other person focus on Bella and give her a wee treat when she does as told. Just suggestions. You guys are so lovely together.

Hey Nikki Thank you. Those r good ideas for Bella. I ended up doing some of what you are saying in that Heather Fished and I managed Bella and had a quick release clip on her so she would stay relatively in place. She still freaked out and I had to manage her but it helped. Of course my main concern with it is if we dumped it she was tied up it would be very dangerous so I only did it when I was right with her in calm water....its funny because she is actually quite relaxed unless there is certain stimulation like the fish. All in all we will keep working on her. My past dogs got very good in the canoes but were less excitable and less interested in fish. Im sure she will improve some with time. @@TheRealTedBaird Totally get what your saying. I had a Golden Lab Pepper, gun dog who I shot over, the mere hint of fish on, sent her nuts. The best I could do was hold her and have a wee chat as she tried to get to that bloody trout (rainbow). Bella is beautiful, and your doing an amazing job. Well done

Thx@@Nikki-ot7un she is definitely a sweetheart 95% of time but no one is perfect right? She is definitely not gun shy I think her instincts to retrieve game r so intense it comes through with the fish. When we have skeet shoot over water or land we have to hold her because when a skeet goes down of course shes after it Haha. All in all we would never trade her for another 🐕

Such a nice relaxing trip. Bella is so funny 😂 for catching fish. She is a trip. So glad you and Heather could get away to canoe and camp. I was afraid Bella was going to tip the boat. And where are your safety vests??? I subscribed. Thanks for sharing. 😺💞

Hi again Janet Thanks so much for subscribing. Bella is a handfull when fishing for sure lol but we are determined to bring her and train her as best we can. We had our life Jackets in the boat but felt with our skills and the warmth of the water that we were safe. If the water was cold or we were further from shore we wear them its all a calculated decision. We always were them In white water of course. I love that dog. I wish I had one like him. Your wife Heather cooks well. That's something that most of these modern women can't do today is cook... You need to teach Shawn James how to make long video's like you do. He makes good video's they just aren't long enough. It's like he is on a tight schedule and he has to hurry up and go.

Hey James. It couldn't hurt. They have traveled together and spent a lot of time together. She could definitely use a bit of Bucks calm demeanor lol. Migraines are the worst pain ever if u dont get them u dont know ppl think it's just a headache but its worse then when Ive broken bones burned myself etc its just miserable. I think most northern dogs that are around the outdoors and have come across the scent of a black bear would not react like Bella did. They seem to know that a bear is a mortal enemy instinctively. My sister's Labrador Retriever used to freak out every time there was a bear around. The hair on her back and her tail with stand out. Too funny.

I agree it was not a bear. Bella would have acted much differently but we knew it was very unlikely regardless. I didn't get it on film but I went back later and there was fresh moose sign with sapling balsam fur all eaten so I think there may indeed have been a moose further back that turned away after hearing/smelling us.... The Labrador sounds like a good Bear dog. Sometimes Bella acts like that but she hasn't encountered a bear yet but she does it with omnivores or carnivores .

I finally will try puteen it looks great it would even be better with onions and tomatoes

LOL I hear ya. Just used them cause super light and dry fast..and decent in the water. Not 2 much portaging so they were ok... good to hear the sneakers didn't drive u off lol. On whitewater trips o find myself in more rugged water shoes often as my hiking boots r just too heavy and the hard rubber no good in rocks....felt soles are the best but not great on the Portage ha! Hey Randy great to see you again thanks so much that's very kind. I feel blessed 4 sure. We have a great time adventuring together. Unfortunately Bella is not up for adoption lol. Believe it or not She will be 5 in November but you are right she is still very puppyish and has already begun to calm down since this trip. Bella is a mix she is 1/2 yellow lab and 1/2 German Shorthair Pointer shes a wonderful combination of both. Thank you for your input and kind words its much appreciated.
