Thank you for the Paros video. You have good video skills, I enjoyed it! It is nice seeing the old place again. However I did not like seeing the sunbeds monopolising the beaches. I think there was a large Greek demonstration last summer against those beds because the locals are against the idea of having to pay 60 euros a day to go to the beach. Greeks are very much against this and, as far as I know, the sunbeds were removed. I once stayed in Naoussa in the building right in front of the one you stayed in and, another time, I stayed in one of those houses on the cliff accross Piperi beach. I had the good fortune to work on a dig on a hill a short distance away from Kolymbithres beach. That was in 1981, at a time when there were still fishemen and farmers living in Naoussa! That was at the tail end of the hippie era. Back then, tourists had a lot of time, but not much money. Today, travelers have plenty of money, but not much time.

Thank you for watching, I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'd love to see what Paros was like back in the early 80s 🙂 Can't blame the protestors there, we were surprised at some of the high priced sun beds (we avoided the 60 euro ones!) and there should be free beach too for just chucking down a towel.

@@OurTravelPlace Here is some info tidbit for you: next to Paros is a smaller island called Antiparos, at the southern tip of which a number of Hollywood stars have summer residences, including Tom Hanks. And south of Antiparos is an island called Despotiko, which is an active archaeological site and maybe, one day, an open-air museum. They say it is a smaller version of Delos, a religious sanctuary that was destroyed in the 4 or 5th century BC.

Thank you! Usually we would go swimming one at a time. If we both went at the same time (usually when it was quiet) I would just keep half an eye on stuff while in the water. We don't take passports, excess cash, cards we don't need (e.g. we have a card specifically for travel and don't use our regular cards) and kept everything in our bags rather than leaving anything out. If we did have something particularly valuable with us that day we would just stick with one swimming at a time. Typically it is very safe but we don't take the risk on anything we really wouldnt want to lose.

Ooo tough one, i suppose it depends on how much time you want to spend at the beach! I think for us we would stay in Naoussa, spend a day at kolymbithres then exploring naoussa, a day doing the lefkes to piso livadi hike (although if you want a shorter hike i would just do the byzantine trail from lefkes to prodromos in the morning then spend the afternoon at a beach... or maybe even wine tasting if i could get a late afternoon slot?) and then a final day at the beach (probably golden beach but you could do a closer one). If it was 3 full days/4 nights and i was arriving or leaving by ferry then i would try and squeeze in a bit of exploring parikia town too depending on ferry times. I believe there are luggage storage places although not used them ourselves. Alternatively if you arent as fussed by beaches you could spend the final day in Parikia. All personal preference though 🙂
