Classic processing techniques have stuck around for 1 important reason... they work! They're 'timeless' for a reason.
This means we can always rely on them, adapt them and expand from them in creative and modern ways.
In this one, we discuss 7 of my favourite classic processing techniques, pulling them from other genres and music scenes, and talking about how we can adapt them to electronic music.
0:00 Intro
0:32 Low End Extention w/ Gate
3:27 Filtered Echo
5:19 Vocal Sidechain
7:25 Delay Throw
10:59 Double Tracking for Width
14:12 Double Delays
16:00 Gated Reverb
17:49 Outro

This was a fun one. I knew a few of these but filtered reverb was really cool. I am excited to try that. Thanks again!

I've been producing for a number of yrs now, but I'm finding these videos are helpful to refresh stuff I've picked up over the years but forget about when I'm in the studio. That double tracking trick for instance! And the filtered delay. Funny thing, I have a filtered delay setup on my analogue rig, but always neglect to do it in the DAW.

Good vid, explained well i think. Because of that, this also makes a good reference video for non-beginners. We always like when it's kept to the point, no sidetracking into unneccesary details which can be distracting and more difficult to absorb the main info.

the gating thing seems bit tricky... wouldn't it be just easier to have the sinewave play the right rhythm as midi? at least then there wouldn't be any unwanted artifacts.

It may seem tricky the first time learning about it, but super quick and easy once you wrap your head around it. You can totally do what you've described here also. This is just how they did it back in the day when technology was a little more limited :)

Out of curiosity, would messing with the reverb settings in terms of decay/time not be the same as gated reverb?

I have a question. I see a lot of people in examples with their audio from, below ext in. , Set to 1 (mono), instead of 1/2 stereo for their audio sample tracks. Is there any certain reason for that? When should I be switching that and why? If you don't mind me asking. Sorry if a noob question
