You know them by their works: The Christian is vile, being a member of the wicked generation, those seeking signs. It is amusing to hear the profound arrogance of someone knowing of God, as if He were known outside of fiction. As if we did not know already, nothing fails like prayers in a children's hospital, or God helps those helping themselves. Oh, you of little faith. Freud wrote, "The antidote to Christianity is literacy." The believer is ill read, often indoctrinated in youth. We know the Christian by his works, lacking a distinction of fact & fiction. His God advocates the mindset of slavery, saying "Suffer the children, come unto me" & "My sheep hear My voice", Jesus Christ mocks the believers in the Jewish God, we know who won the war of the Jews, Jesus Christ says render to Caesar: "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree:" Galatians 3:13

To many people come to Chr ist thinking all their problems are all going to “melt” away. The truth is the moment you become a Christian, you have a target of your back and the devil will attempt to make your life miserable. The good news is, if you are committed to getting the Word into your heart as a lifestyle and living it out. You will realize the devil is a DEFEATED foe and can only distract the plan God has for your life. But NEVER stop it.

Good grief, you give the Devil (or his demons) too much credit, as does Mr Murphyhouse, who likens us to Jesus being tempted after fasting 40 days in the wilderness. First, our primary nemesis is our own flesh, with its carnal desires that we were born with and have fostered, which we are instructed by Christ to "crucify daily" and by Paul to "buffet" and "make our slave." Secondly, our foe is the world, with its anti-Christian philosophies and religions that appeal to our feelings and works-centered sense of self righteousness. Lastly, yes indeed, the Devil and his fellow fallen angels are a real threat, for which I'm sure they pose a relentless struggle to those public figures who can shape public perception for both evil and God's glory, but baby Christians are no threat to Satan in light of their lack of sanctification. But a Christian who is sanctified, living the abundant life in the resurrection power of the Holy Spirit, this man or woman will certainly get the attention of the Prince of Darkness. Satan directly tempted Jesus because he knew Him to be God's Son, made in the "likeness" of sinful flesh and our forerunner in the faith. So, just like Jesus responded to temptation, our response is to come from the correct, Spirit taught, interpretation and application of God's wholly divine word, which is profitable to doctrine, teaching, reproof, instruction in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

I strongly urge anyone and everyone, to NOT "underestimate our enemies" ... Don't forget, that we are talking about "The Father of all Lies", and that many of us have a "tendency" to be "thinking the best about people" (which, in and of itself I also try to do... Until clear evidence proves otherwise... Which seems to happen all too often...) ... Don't forget, that (somewhere in the New Testament), there is a clear warning; something to the effect of: "There are none righteous, no not one." We are instructed to be 'treating other people the way that we, ourselves would want to be treated'... Which, I can tell you from experience; carries with it, no guarantee, that others will to any degree, reciprocate.

@@Able-Man Right on. Not everyone can be trusted. Thus includes people in the church. The Bible teaches us to be shrewd as a serpent, and soft as a dove. This means we are to be wise when dealing with people and realize not everybody is looking out for their interest and your interest as well. We must learn to set good boundaries with people and not be doormats. But the same time, walking, love and fairness.

It helps me to remember "I am NOT Special" as the World tells me, but I am "Fearfully and Wonderfully Made". The difference? Being "special" is defined by what I think , and by what others think of me. Being "Fearfully and Wonderfully made" depends on what my maker made me to be. I will only know what that is as I grow closer to the one who made me.

Everyone God created is one of a kind, Special indeed, and that's not being conceited unless you think you're special because of YOU, and that everything great you do is because you are responsible for that gift, which comes from God, you just did Him homage by doing it well and doing it His Way!

@@SoulfulDevotions317 "...the Bible is rich in wisdom." Do you think that thought is solely unique to Christian biblical scripture? "What is hateful to you, do not to your fellow man. That is the entire law; all the rest is commentary." - Talmud Shabbat 31a- the faith of Jesus, who lived and died a Jew. "May I do to others as I would that they should do to me." - Plato circa 4th Century BCE. “How about ‘shu’ [reciprocity]: never impose on others what you would not choose for yourself?” - the words of Confucius according to the Analects. "Do to the doer to cause that he do." - The 'eloquent peasant', Egypt, circa 1800 BCE. "That nature alone is good which refrains from doing unto another whatsoever is not good for itself" - Dadistan- I- dinik 94:5 (Zoroastrianism). "All things are our relatives; what we do to everything, we do to ourselves. All is really One." - The First Nations of North America. “Do Unto Others...” That's also known as the golden rule, or the law of reciprocity, and that's why ALL religions have it as part of their liturgy; claiming they represent the source of what is already native to us! That is also why religions are successful, because they claim to deliver what we already have at birth. The golden rule is the foundation of all our basic human moralities. There is evidence of it in the lives of hunter gatherer communities 100,000 years ago, and earlier. There is no great wisdom in any scripture that did not exist elsewhere before, they just appropriate, plagiarize and rebrand it as being unique to their cult.

Although it is NOT the Gospel, ( Lewis even says this) it does have some insightful advice of what you need to do as a Christian, and what Christians believe. I reccommend the book very strongly for anyone who is a Christian, and anyone who has just begun their adventure walking with Jesus.

#6 is especially hard!! In my life I've had people attack me all of the time from my childhood, to housemates, to a fake pastor who went as far as demanding that my husband divorce me. When there's no attacking, it's avoiding me like a plague. It's VERY hard to forgive, but I try. Many times, I'm not socially correct and that seems to be the god of this age. :( I try to go before my Lord every day and it's hard to forgive, but I try. I was able to pray for my mother's salvation and even though my dad did not attack me, he was still very wicked, but I was able to pray that he receive Christ before he died.

I loved my stagnation because it allowed me to also entertain sin and keep my bitterness. I was truly outdated in that sense and honestly, dealing with my own issues rather than giving it to God.

    C. S. Lewis, has deeply impacted my life since a small child. I am now 77 years old. Outside of GOD’s WORD, THE BIBLE; C.S. Lewis writings are my favorite to read, to this day. Resisting change can no doubt be harmful but there has to be a central unchanging core. Last Sunday I attended a traditional Protestant Eucharist service which I think would not have been out of place in Scotland 200 years ago and doubt there wasn’t a word said or sung that I couldn’t embrace. The image of Karl Barth starting every day with a Bible in one hand and newspaper in the other seems useful. I have little time for many brands of Christianity. If the faith doesn’t go back to the beginning of time then I’ve got better things to do on Sunday mornings. Scott Fitzgeralds the Great Gatsby in his last lines in the book “So we beat on , boats against the tide drawn back ceaselessly into the past”

I love CS Lewis’ work and his insights! Faith isn’t mentioned here, or avoiding lack of faith. Because it’s come to have various connotations and definitions it’s easy to misapply. I mean a strong trust and rest in what we already know about God by having seen and experienced his goodness. Namely trust in His faithfulness, love for us, mercy and provision, wisdom and goodness. When we go through the refiner’s fire, the storm ~ it’s Him we rely on. Not ourselves, not government, not money, not perfect circumstances. We all will suffer, and He uses it to reveal our own character and to grow us and give us compassion for others. It’s easy to believe lies when we’re in the midst of grief or abandonment. Lies about God, ourselves and the bigger picture. Be diligent to enter His rest!

@@Steven-kl6lh the refiners fire is used to purify gold and silver by applying intense heat so the impurities will rise to the surface and can be removed. When the metalsmith can see his own reflection, his work is complete. Actually, I’ve heard this last part about seeing one’s reflection, which isn’t probably true in metalworking, because I just now looked it up. But certainly our goal is to reflect Jesus. The same sun that melts the wax also hardens the clay. In other words, we can interpret and respond very differently-with bitterness and anger or with the knowledge that God will work all things together for our good. See Zech. 13:9, Isaiah 48:10, I Peter 1:7, Proverbs 17:3, Psalm 66:10, Malachi 3:2 🕊️

It is not your current condition, but the direction in which you are moving, that matters. Recognition of one’s own errors is the first step to sanctification. The first habit we need to identify and eradicate is pride. Pride is the greatest obstacle between man and God. When someone places themselves at the center of their own universe, they automatically displace God from that position making it difficult to submit to His will and recognize their dependence on him. This creates a barrier in the relationship that is essential for spiritual life hindering the flow of divine grace.

While we cannot give away every penny we get to others, I have found it best to pray and ask the Holy Spirit if the need I see online (or hear about) is one He wants me to meet, or if He has raised up someone else to meet it. We are not to be "played" as a fiddle for others' unjust gain any more than we are to pass by a legitimate need. When it comes to the homeless people who hang out by my local grocery store, I will ask them what food they would like me to get them before I go in. That is not indifference. I've been told by my local police NOT to hand them money, as half of them have drug or alcohol addiction issues and money would simply feed that. Meet the legitimate need.

Supremely excellent video 📹!! So many essentials in 21 minutes. These alone could change the world, should masses of seekers receive them, and let Christ Jesus marinate them in them. Mr. Lewis has been huge in my 44 years of still maturing as a believer. I believe God used him in the proper voice of sound, Spirit-led logic that is missing in the world, on that side of the spectrum of thinkers. We have not many like him. Francis Schaefer was another, but not many more. Proper thinking shows the seeking thinker that "Christianity" is a serious mind-satisfying alternative to so much goofy goings-on in a broad variety of "churches" and colleges. Thx very much !! May you continue and be expanded in your influence in our High Priest Jesus Christ and the power of His blood!אמן ואמן

I question the last instruction about change …if it not for the betterment of faith & religion. How does one determine if the change is for good? Very complicated …especially in the times we are living today! Change for the sake of change ?

When he talks about being resistant to change, I believe he is talking about changing and growing in the Lord. There are some who refuse to continue the growing process of walking with the Lord. When we seek the Lord, read His Word and are being taught His truths then we can know if we are growing in Him or in the things of the world. We are to never compromise His truth for the world's truths. If we are not moving forward and growing in the knowledge, the grace and our personal relationship with Him and in Him then we have become stagnant and like stagnant water we can begin to stink and be of no use in His Kingdom

Well, done. Only one thing to add: "sacramental reception." Jesus gave us the sacraments as principle means of grace for advancing our spiritual life, particularly, Baptism, Eucharist, Reconciliation, and Confirmation. In fact, regarding the Eucharist, Jesus said, "he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me ... and I will raise him up." John 6. To deny this critical teaching is to deny Jesus's will for us.

I hate the false Catholic doctrine of transubstantiation and the mass. If the wine turns into the blood of Christ, what happened at the first Lord’s Supper? Did Christ drink his own blood? And when he drinks it again with them, will he be drinking his own blood? Ridiculous. If you take everything literally then Jesus is a door too. It’s explained, “Do this in remembrance of me.” Your take on the Lord’s Supper is just another form of idolatry just like praying to saints and to Mary. You don’t need to correct anyone. You need to correct yourself.

@@commentatorgunk Thanks for the insult (are you a Christian?). Your points rather neglect a couple of things. All Christians believed in the true presence of Christ in the Eucharist and consumed it prior to the "reformers" of the 16th century. Further, in John 6, it says that most people stopped following Jesus after his teaching on his body and blood. If he only meant it metaphorically, why would they all leave him? He could easily have clarified that he meant it only symbolically. Also check out the numerous Eucharistic miracles beginning with Laciano, Italy, where the Eucharist turned to actual human flesh. This has happened numerous times over the centuries. The most recent this past year in Poland.

If you read the church fathers you will see the Eucharist is spiritual, not literal. Just like baptism is symbolic and rebirth is symbolic. We don’t actually eat his actual flesh and drink his actual blood, just as he won’t eat and drink himself. It’s symbolic. This doesn’t make it anything less, but a means by which God’s church can be joined together with our God. Just as we are designed to eat food for sustenance, we must eat the true bread for eternal life.

@@zbs28 Not at all. It's just the opposite of what you say. I'm an expert on the Church fathers. Start with St. Paul's letter to the Corinthians (1Cor 10:16). Then work your way through the Didache. There are multiple references to the real presence - the body and blood of Christ. Thereafter you would have to explain how all Christians believed this prior to the Reformation, and even after, why mainline Protestants still adhere to it (e. g. Anglicans, and Lutherans), as well as millions of Orthodox believers. By denying the true presence you are denying the very words of Christ.

@@2Uahoj Wow, a miracle in Poland. Did they eat it or save it to add to the relics? I believe scripture and I believe it in the manner that God intended. I hate all your false doctrine. Repent from following people who have added to and taken away from Scripture. There is still time. Praise God for all those He has saved out of the Catholic cult.
