Awesome find Steve. I'll bet she just calls you back to sort everything out. You saved her a bundle.
Been watching you for a few years, I retired 6 years ago, dont miss it...I loved the one where you were in the attic, checking voltages, homeowner removed face to t-stat without you asking...jacked you around, you went off...Public is a trip. Well there zoned so as long you are not cooling the entire home but just one room won’t cost much. But maintenance can be pricy on all those units
had a customer i used to service 2 times a year who had 16 trane units in the house. took me and another guy all day to do the maintenance.

I love this one! It's like a detective story. I hope these homeowners appreciate that instead of a new unit, all they needed was a couple of pounds of Freon and a $25 hard-start kit. You saved them a fortune, Steve. And I hope the homeowner's Dad especially appreciates how your expertise and willingness to do your best on every job is unusual these days in the business.
They need a leaf blower.
Love your videos Steve. Informative and a touch of humor. Good stuff.
Sounds just like a job I did on the heating side it ended up being a bad zone valve keeping the heat running, stuck wide open on the end switch. Keep up the good work Steve 💪.
Just me, but i would have pulled all the thermostats off the wall and then checked the heat zone pumps. If it turned off, reconnect each one until i found the bad one. 😊
Well done Steve you did the job, 👍😀 and it will be very interesting to see the follow up on the multiple thermostat loops - if you ever get the call back. That homeowner has got significant investment to make pretty soon when those condenser units finally turn their toes up.😳
Hopefully all those air filters and indoor coils were clean prior to charging units.

You’re absolutely correct. Specially with 20-year-old units. You have to check that evaporator coil. I believe Steve is a much better plumber than he has AC technician but I understand in his part of the world they only use air conditioning a couple months out of the year so a big part of his business is just gas and go and will deal with it next year is the customers attitude

Hey Steve and Miss Molly! Workin’ again y’all. 👍👍. All the units need a hi ya doin’ mama!
U the man! Love ur videos n ur dog 🐕
Your a good guy steve!
Nice work
Nice save, it may be the dry contacts in the Air Handler causing it to run for heat. What leaves out there holy smokes.
Great work as usual Steve. Makes you wonder about the motivation of other HVAC techies who rather than problem solve, just recommend replacement.
@DrakeAShort

I usually offer to fix it as well as a estimate of replacing. It’s the customer’s decision. I will not dumb refrigerant into a empty unit though. That’s a waste of gas and harmful.
Gotta love when you come and fight all day to fix one thing and then another fucking problem starts
Well you did a hell of a lot better than the other two guys. 👍👍👍👍. It's all to easy to say the units are no good without even having a good look 😯😯
Heat & cold at the same time, I've traced it to a 'bad' thermostat in the past. Pull the thermostat off problem not there, checked wires ok, thermostat in oil mode connects cool & heat together!!! Switch it to electric -- A ok. I've seen it more than once!
Wow 😳 that is A lot of a/c units. ✌️
About a minute into the video it sounded like someone hopped in the shower. lol
Congrats on the 150k subs.
I am just a ham and egger but a renter was complaining about the AC not cooling. The AC compressor was running, the AC was blowing, so, I didn't know what was going on. The AC guy, who may have had a drug problem, said it was fine. The property manager wanted to buy some sort of portable AC unit. I told him he was crazy because he had an operational system and told him to have someone who knows what he is doing look at it. Sure enough, the guy said the heat and AC were running at the same time but I don't know how he fixed it. It was a hot air system, I don't know. The AC and gas were all firing at the same time. It did have one of those fancy wifi thermostats
@26:28 is why you have a following of over 150,000 subscribers and a ton of call back customers. Nice work Steve. Thanks for the upload!
Holy hell how have they managed to have all units and not had to replace any of them?!
Friendly FYI …. If condenser is dirty with high sub cooling it will cause it superheat to also run high. Those turds need to be carted off to the dumpster ASAP!!

Blowing the leaves from hell around those units would be so satisfying!
Our hvac on air side died a few weeks ago guy said we need a new unit, the board is bad and he cant get one they dont make them any more. This was a 20 min. visit(just trying to figure out how he could have tried to find one that fast) I found new board 30 mins later. And it didnt cost me $7000 for a new unit.
had the same problem with a oil fired boiler the summer time circulaters start running rad. are banging called oil co. THEMOSTATT had some solder connections that should not have changed the therm all was fine.
I wonder if you pulled all of the thermostats off than try to connect that red wire again and see if Zone 2 turns back on, if it doesn't then start putting the thermostats back one at a time until zone 2 turns back on?
Do you ever locate and repair the refrigerant leaks???
before & after work i watch your vids, invaluable learning tool...that working mans turkey vid was awesome!! One of the greatest assets to the trades in the US!!
The guy didn’t want to mess with it. So he said it needed to be changed out. Oldest trick in the book. Seen you say this as well Steve.
@FrenchBeefCDN

Spending the price of a new unit on repairing a 20 year old unit isn’t worth it. Anything can be fixed, sometimes it just makes no sense. Put that money into new equipment. Usually I’d get it by until it needs major leak repairs, coils or a compressor. Hard start kits aren’t expensive
That must be a big place to have all those units.
wow if you can afford 7 air conditioners you could afford a yard cleanup person to get rid of the leaves LOL I feel good about how clean mine is after seeing these I wash coil couple times every year and clean up all the leaves in and around unit

All them Ac units, Man that Electric Meter must sure be a runnin", High bills i would bet, That a Mansion or a house?
Steve is sweet on the nanny.
Got to see Miss Molly twice. Another great video!! When do you have time to edit these videos?
Are they storing dead bodies in that building. 7 units.. they have one for each room. Amazing how much that must have cost to install.
At first I figured you were talking to the homeowner, but then realized it was some sort of staff
7 AC units. Insane.
Easy $700 in Freon. R22 is gold
With all those leaves, mice and chipmunk s would hang around and causes problems when they chew on wires !!
Just wondering how much did you charge for all the units?
I'm sincerely hoping that those systems aren't all on the same electric bill. If they are, I think I'd have to take out a 2nd job, just to run them. Then there's the oil bill, for the boiler that could have been running for months...
Gotta put cheese on those 'shit sandwiches' to keep 'em together!
The thermostat switch was on oil or gas. I think it should be switched over to heat pump. Check the back of the thermostat again.
My AC and furnace was replaced in 2019 after 31 years. Those looked like shit, mine still looked good. Glad I went HE as my bills are half what they were.
Hard start like a old buick in the cold
How much more efficient are modern AC units compared to those old ones?
@nathang.1744
Жыл бұрын
Most of the units here look to be 10 seer units. The standard “modern” ac is usually 14 seer but, you can get units where the seer rating is in the 20s. 10 seer units cost just under a dollar per hour while the 14 seer units cost about 0.65 $ to run a hour

Is that house not insulated at all?? If each unit is 3 tons or 36,000 btu times 7 , that is 21 tons of ac in that house OMG. They got to be going broke just paying the electric bill !!! There has to be a much more efficient way to do it than this.

Is it better to have expansion tank vertical, horizontal or either way?
@purplegoose7907
3 жыл бұрын
Been in the trade 20 years. They can technically go in any direction, but I try to keep it vertical for the weight, in case they fill up (and they do when they fail). The weight can break off the pipe if installed horizontal and flood the place. Just support it and you're good to go whichever way.

I wonder if they have their own transformer. I could see where a 2 phase might be a little more efficient delivery instead of placing all those amps on a single phase leg. I'd sure hate to swap energy bills with those people !
You should bring a leave blower along with you for these types of jobs.
Coulda hung a pitcure on the wall and Bam! hit the wire.
Why does it seem to be a common thing up north to have to or more a/c units? Just curious.🤷🏻♂️
