This is awesome, just subscribed, interested in your Florida trip, we are planning the same this summer, done it in our CRV. So I just got one and I do Woodstock to Markham twice a week, I can do it back and forth on a single charge from 95 to about 22% when I get back, granted is been a mild winter and range anxiety, new car and all. I've put 2200km still in the first month and I have spent so far according to the app 400kw of energy so like 40$. Now I wonder how much more the delivery fee will be from hydro one😮. In comparison my old work horse Civic(rip civic) would have been approx $300 in gas for the same distance travelled 1.60$ litre. My experience so far and I have a dual motor MYLR 2024, build quality is good, no panel gaps or any issues so far. AMAZING sound system, built in Freemont. Whoever built the car was having a great day and Probably built on a wednesday 😂. So Feb 24, 2024 was my first real cold morning trip here is my experience. Range, in winter it actually is comparable to my '15 civic EX automatic. Wait let me explain, I charged to 90%(getting braver with range anxiety thing, but after yesterday it's no more) so the equivalent of 3/4 tank in my civic. Yesterday we went from Woodstock to Ajax in -13c degrees. Left with 89% after "warming up" the car. Made it to Pickering with 28%. 2 adults and a teen, car in chill mode, heat at 20.5 always on and in auto mode and cruising around 120kph all the way there on autopilot, early morning hence no traffic on the 401. This equates to basically a half tank used, the same trip would have eaten just about the same amount of gas in the Civic. In winter I would get maybe 500km to a full tank or 250ish to a half tank, at the 10 year mark and 250,000km, I babied that car😢. Now the Y New yes but it is 4x heavier different beast. But we are talking efficiency. So cost me $2 to charge at home before leaving(I was at 66% and 0.103cents kWh is the rate and $19.89 To supercharge in Pickering to 85% stopped at 82%(my show on you tube ended it was about 20mins)@$0.45 cents kwh at that time (closest to our destination in Ajax) to putt around and get back home, also first supercharger experience, so simple like pumping gas without freezing, that's another story. So a total of 22 bucks to go round trip of about 400-420km as we did a few other stops after making it to Ajax. We stopped in Scarborough and Markham, got home with 29%, it got warmer up to -2c so that helped and stop and go traffic, yes even on Saturday on the 401, regen added a bit of power back that would not be the case in the Civic. Same trip in the Civic $65ish there and back (always used mid grade for the 10 years I had it)However before people start saying gas is better, it's comparable in winter from what I have experienced, in usage not cost. One thing I have learned is that the Y is well more comfortable, using the heat only eats maybe 0.5% of power, heat pump models definitely more efficient. Overall for a 4.5ton car it performs and is as efficient as a 1.2ton civic. That is MY experience so far. Sorry for the novel.

I have also a Tesla Model Y RWD with CATL LFP battery and made 20.200km in 1 year. After 20200km I paid till now 1780$ with 70% supercharger and the rest on public AC chargers. I don’t have the possibility to charge it at home. I didn’t made too much of economy on gas but I still love the car. The only downsides till now is that the battery is too sensitive at cold weather, even on +10 degree Celsius the regenerative braking is limited to 1/2-3/4 of the full power. And also when you go downhill on the mountain due to overheating the regenerative braking will be after short period of intense use limited to 1/8, it barely regenerates something. At high speeds (Germany autobahn) is too noisy and the ride is on the hard side due to not so sophisticated suspension, the seats are very comfy though.

Such good honest opinion. Thank you. I nearly committed to the model Y RWD in the UK due to a great saving. I have put on hold as got cold feet as it’s going to be my first EV. We test drove it and loved it. The comfort of it was just amazing. Did you ever consider a bit of subtle ambient lighting. I think I will miss that as the Tesla y doesn’t have any on the dash or the doors 😢.
