Nice to see someone getting this done without a helper. Way to go

Thanks, Tyler! :D
Excellent discussion on creating the window template, identifying the stud location, and applying the correct sealant. Can't go wrong.

Thanks for the kind words. :D
I like how a person would have to step up on a latter to look in your windows. That is not going to happen, very private👍the cross breeze is really nice. You are thinking of everything to make this a great camper ! Maybe some day build these and sell them. They are that good Marc 👍

Thanks, I have considered buying a trailer to build and sell. Perhaps do a couple per year. Simple, cheap builds. I just wouldn't want it to turn into full time work.
Looks like a pro did it. If I did it there would be gaps and spray foam bubbling from the gaping holes. Maybe duct tape too. Nice job!

Thanks! There is still time for duct tape and spray foam! lol. :D

Thanks! So much better with the natural light and ventilation. :D
very nice... Im building an 8 x 16 v-nose cargo trailer into an RV and Mobile Sign Shop. I have designed the entire conversion on the computer at full scale. I'm just starting on the walls and cabinets. I used to travel in a 15-passenger cargo bus, but I purchased a large format color printer for decals/stickers, t-shirts, koozies, banners, magnetics, etc. I would have lost a lot of storage in the shuttle bus, so I had to get something a little bigger. I have the shuttle bus conversion and my cargo trailer series on my YT channel.

An 8' x 16' is more than double the square footage of my 6' x 10'. Of course my tiny truck would die if I tried to pull something that large for any real distance. :D

@@camplapidary ya, I'm dreading finding a truck that can pull this... large engine 1500 with tow package will do or a 2500
Great Job! Where did you find a window template for the Rec-Pro 14"x16"?

Thank you, Steven! I had to make my own template for installation. I just used a piece of cardboard, cut out a hole to fit the window and used that for the exterior pattern. Please note that the inside cutout will be slightly larger than the exterior.
I didn’t see any sealer between the window and outside of the wall to be waterproof or there is a rubber?

There is a foam gasket around the perimeter of the window. I wasn't sure if it would be enough to keep water out, but the other day while doing a remodel on the trailer, I took the windows out. The foam gasket had made quite a good seal against the aluminum trailer skin. No water intrusion in the 1 year plus since installation. :D

It’s nice to see how this window installation is done. Great instructional video.
Where is your insulation? I’m not seeing it. That’s critical for being comfortable winter or summer. What am I missing here?

Obviously I didn't have any insulation at this point. That's why you don't see it. I had neither the time or money to insulate. I slept in the trailer many times without it. When winter came, I insulated only the ceiling with 1 inch foam. Heated the trailer with 1500 watt electric, usually on low 750 watts. It and I did fine. The next summer I had money to buy insulation and time to remodel. Tore it to bare studs, insulated the walls, and made some modifications. Of course it's better with insulation, perhaps 25-35% more efficient with wall insulation vs just ceiling insulation. I put carpet on the floor this past fall, but have yet to insulate the floor. I think I'll just put it under the trailer. I have a walkthrough video of after the remodel if you haven't seen it already.
Good video. What size wood blocks did you use?

I don’t remember exactly. But probably 1 inch by 1.5 inch by an appropriate length.

@@oscarapple1365 welcome! The most important dimension needs to match whatever your wall stud thickness is. Mine was 1 inch.
I would like to order these same windows…….how thick were your trailer walls?
@camplapidary

Hello! My trailer walls are approximately 1 3/8th inch thick. Wall stud is 1" and 3/8ths osb plywood. :D

Hi. As mentioned, nice clean job. I am replacing a window in my ‘73 Chinook slide in camper that got damaged by a power pole and came across a larger, used, window for which I’ve reframed. This window has a different kind of trim ring that calls for what I guess is a 3/8 sheet of plywood. The original finish panel was a 5mm wall, not 3/8”… different trim ring. So I’m doubting myself about the cross section dictating the thickness of the inside panel. The 3/8”. I guess the short of it is that the cross section should match the rough framing that includes the aluminum siding on the outside. I wish I could post a picture in this comment. Thanks again.
