As someone that has a 6ku for a couple of years, I find it to be a much better bike than this review has made it out to be. Yes it is cheap and yes you do get what you pay for. I would recommend changing the cranks, throwing away the brakes (you want a fixie right?) and putting some track drop bars on it. I use a specialized tarmac for my racing and casual bike rides with the guys but this fixie has been through hell and back. At one point I used it for my commutes while I didn't have a car and this thing held up no problem. Ive been hit on it multiple times and never had an issue with anything other than my bars being messed up. Steel is real, thats how biking started out. I still continue to ride it when I want to feel my legs screaming. For an everyday bike for getting around and having fun its a solid bike at a good price point. Don't expect too much of it and you will be surprised by the results. It handles well being steel on rough roads.

If you’re not riding on the track, why on earth would you use track drops. Fixies are so ridiculous with the user logic. SMH

Im still confused on how some of the videos on your channel are "reviews of a product" but they end up just being "powerpoint style" presentation of googled images. This should be renamed 'synopsis of what I read about a 6KU fixie online' lol

I've had a 6ku for about 2 or 3 years, and I can say, it's a tank. it will stand up to any bump, crack or bunny hop thrown at it. I'm 6'4 250lbs and I can ride my 6ku all around town, and even NYC without any worry. all ive done to it is get it dropped handlebars and thickslicks to avoid flats and its done the job time and time again. as stated, yea, you can find another bike around the same price that'll be more lightweight and a better investment, but I can say that 6ku is still a solid, rugid bike for the price

I own a 6ku Milan 2. It's a size 58, with me being 6'2. For starters, I love it. It's very fast. Its durable, especially if you take care of it. I agree with the heavy weight of the deep v wheelset. However I upgraded my crankets, freewheel, and other necessary parts. I love it. I have used this in rain, windy, and other appalling weather.

I loved my 6KU fixed gear frame. Upgraded a bunch of parts (Main upgrade was the wheel set and cranks) and used it for courier work until i got hit by a car and the frame was bent. Now i have a Cinelli Mystic rats frame for my work bike and Fuji Track Pro for my weekend bike! Great intro bike but if i had to go back in time, i would've got a Kilo TT. I recommend the Kilo to everyone who asks me about a good beginner bike.

I personally had a 6ku fixie and honestly was pretty impressed. i bought it used on craigslist for $75. I only moved on from it because I got a good deal on a Leader 725. Pros- Sealed Bottom Bracket - After ~1500 miles, it was still smooth. Finish - After commuting on this bike for a full year, I would still get compliments about the color/paint Weight - I replaced the wheelset with with an also low quality non deep v wheelset, replaced pedals, brakeless, bar and stem, and the bike was only 21 pounds. Not bad for a beginner bike with ~150 more invested. Geometry - very comfortable for street use. Cons - Stock wheels are heavy, bearings don''t seem to last stock tires stock chain No bottle cage mounts Overall for the price, I think it is a great beater bike. This was not my first fixed gear, I just bought it as a beater because I found it nearly new for $75. After a good assembly, the bike would be more than enough for a beginner. One thing I will contest about you video, although deep V wheels are heavy, high maintenance, every deep rim I've owned has been bomb proof because of the deep reinforced rim, decent pitch hub, and a 36h lacing pattern. The wheels never come untrue.

I have one of this bikes, and I've noticed that brakes got worn out in just one month, original wheel tubing lost air quickly and wouldn't pump up easily. I don't know why but my seat keeps getting loose, so I have to tighten it down after every ride. Wheels lack grip. I actually like the weight, nice and heavy, but it is hard to go up hill with it. Still like 3 months old, I'll probably get a new bike once I've used this one for a year

I own a 6KU Evian 1 bike and will give you comprehensive information. EDIT: I am not a bot, nor am I paid to do this. Background: I had this bike for 6 months, bought it on June 6. *I ride it EVERYDAY to school which is 4 miles front and back.* I can go 10 miles easily with this bike. Bike is VERY durable. I did not have to buy new parts. Nothing broke at all within 6 months. I go hardcore on this bike. 30+MPH. Pros - VERY Light (lighter than critical cycles TRACK by 1 or 3 pounds; my friend has one) Feels the same as Vilano - Bright colors (I got the white/white Evian 1) - VERY DURABLE (Everything is intact , even with many hard falls.) - Paint does not fade or change color. - You can sprint with it if you buy drop or bull - rust does not appear AT ALL unless water goes on it; then wipe it asap. - VERY smooth ride. - Handles AMAZING on gravel/wet terrain. I had not slip yet and skidding on it is fun :D Cons - Paint barely rubbed off within half a year of extreme usage, but it will rub after a while. - Frame/wheel material is cheap. (Alloy and Hi-Ten) - somehow water can get in your wheels since spokes have little holes. - come with 700x25c so aero is ok, but traction is amazing - Front wheel hits my foot. The pedal and front wheel clearance is 1 cm!!! that sucks when learning to do trackstands. Tips -WD-40 Oil 3 in 1 is AMAZING for bike chains and my bike is literally quiet. - Keep away from water - clean your brakes before you use them or else you might have a chance of scraping paint off your rim!!! like mine did. - The 6KU TRACK is recommended from me because it comes with an aluminum frame which is only $50 more, compared to $100 more to buy a different aluminum frame. If I had to re-think what bike I should have gotten, I would have gotten the 6KU TRACK because It has an aluminum frame and best bang for your buck and I didn't see this bike until a couple months after I bought the Evian 1. I honestly have nothing else to say; so add question below if you have any.

This sounds rather like the muddy fox fixie/single gear cycle I bought not so long back, bought it cheap £50-00 and bought it on a whim, saw it (it's black and orange) fell in love with it. Test ride hated it, grew to like it now I love it. My daily ride to work, it has been perfect apart from 1 puncture and the tires starting to split. Handles fine even in the rain stops okish in the rain too, the best thing about it? the smile it brings to my face, when it was off the run I used my Scott Sportster 30 and despite its 27 gears and hydraulic brakes it never made me smile once, yet the cheap fixie does, so mine is staying and is a keeper yes not a perfect bike but for the smile it brings to my face I love it.

I have had my used 6ku for about 500miles and it’s still on stock parts other than tires because when I bought it they were cracking and brake pads because they were also dry and really barely slowed the bike down. Not sure how much the previous owner rode it. I’ve never had any issues with the parts. I’d say I ride about 15-20 miles a day on mostly flat ground with some stops and starts at lights.

I bought it used. the bike is overall good for casual riding and can even take a lot of impact in terms of durability. only down side I have is that its just bit heavy but not too heavy for me to just not want to buy it. the stock crank set is not very good for acceleration but you can get some fast speed once going. GOOD BIKE just not made for extreme riding.

I've got the 6ku burgundy track bike and with my overall review of the bike . For what you pay for I can't complain . I do heavy riding across highway 1 in California from Marina to Monterey ca . I ride right along the high way in the bike lane . The roads are horrible it has lots of bumps and hard gravel , loose sand as it's next to the beach , most people often ride road bikes down this trail very rarely will you see anybody riding a fixed . First things first , when you buy this bike prepared to not get a nice deep gloss burgundy like the picture states as the bike when shipped is straight up a flat satin red! For being a aluminum frame it isn't very light but is somewhat on the stiff side . I also avoided the pain and went ahead and upgraded parts that I new would take a crap or just are overall are cheap quality . The wheel set comes with Kenda cross tires so I upgraded to a soma seca for the front and a slick thick for the rear . I upgraded the crank arms to pake crank arms with the stock 48t chain ring . I also upgraded to straps and cages cause who rides a track bike or even a fixed with just platform pedals?????!!! I also thought breaking in the stock saddle would make it more comfty but even with all the miles my butt start to get uncomforabtle so I optd for a nice gel saddle . And the last upgrade I did was to shave some weight so I bought a nice carbon time Seat post . With all these upgrades I've done and the constant miles I've put on it I've only had one complaint . And i think it's a obvious one at that . Those nice deep dished wheels are literally crap ! It's true what everyone sais about them . My rear wheel within a couple of months of riding got bent and the spoke kept popping my tubes .

It might be worth while getting a used bike with suitable frame with a horizontal or almost horizontal bracket for the rear wheel (or a track style rear fork) and build your own fixie. Costs more of your own time but generally would give you something better for less.

Lol i goty 6ku from citygrounds and yes it is heavy but I haven't had that many issues except for a loose rear cog now after 1yr and faded rims. Now I'm building a precursa with omniums!

I bought 1 in 2017 and I love it so far! It's aluminum so it's much lighter. I bought a new seat and I'll need new brakes soon but riding is a pleasure and the price was right.

tech doge I have a fairly older model of the Fuji feather and its a nice looking frame. I just looked at the 2016 model and its nice man id say go for it. Made from all chromoly besides the bars and the older model had a very very nice fork design so I'm sure its the same with this model. If I had 500$ to spend on my first fixed gear this would a be a solid candidate. If your wanting to upgrade this bike is say grab some carbon parts where you can without busting your wallet. Maybe get a better wheelset and id get a pair of clipless shoes and pedals depending on how serious you where wanting to get. Either that or you might wanna look at mercier kilo tt. Fairly nice bike for the price.

You're completely right about the weight and sluggish starts. It's a pain in the ass and I'm completely grateful I don't have to go up hills. As for parts holding up. I've had it going good for 2 years now. I clean it up every week to make sure the chain is good and the wheels are fly! Lol so far so good on the parts not failing! Knock on wood. I did get after market parts. Like a tri spoke wheel, crank, handle bars, seat and that's about it.

I just purchased my first 6ku an it’s really great. It’s made from a lighter metal not steel So the price was more higher for a beginner but only 450. I ride everyday for work 24 miles total travel. An I’m chilling, only thing I’m worried bout is my breaks but that’s nothing I can’t easily handle, everything else good .

I think if you disassemble the bike and properly grease and tighten components, these bikes can run for a while. they're definitely heavy esp. with stock parts. people that get fast on one will be even faster on a upgrade.

I used to own a 6ku fixie. I would say the ride quality is okay, but the fact that it is pretty heavy and also the front wheel axle on the 6ku wheelset is bigger size than normal (not all forks will fit it) played a big part in selling it. I'd also suggest considering saving some more for a proper bike, that will make you happy in the long run.

MOIST GOD depends on your budget If you have like $400 to $500 get a Kilo TT or an Aventon Córdoba considering both have a good geometry and aren't overly aggressive which is good to ride casually. And have decent/good parts But if you have $200 to $350 A Dawes like mention in the video would do you well or a Fuji Track Fixed Gear Bike I'd say stay away from Vilano, 6KU, Critical Cycles, Golden Cycles, or any of that generic shit but whatever suits your wants/needs and is affordable is for you

I bought a 55 cm 6KU Cayenne from SGV Bicycles based out of California for $199 (shipped to Texas) and have had it since the summer of 2015. You can find 6KUs on several different websites, CityGrounds most likely being the most popular, for $199 and not the $229 you see on the 6KU website. I bought it to commute to school while I am at college and to have a bike to ride while at home. I bought it to replace a Schwinn Sidewinder mountain bike I had for the first two years I was at college because of all the maintenance and issues I was having. I use it regularly, with roughly 25-35 miles each week, which equates to 375-525 miles per semester. Naturally that range can vary from being more or less depending on weather and other variables. He states in the video that the heavier frame and deeper wheels make it feel heavier to ride and more difficult on the hills, but if you are coming from a mountain bike like I did, it will feel so much lighter. The only thing that truly makes the hills difficult is the fact that you have only a single gear (obviously). I have not had any issues with the "low quality" parts that make up the bike. I have not even had a flat tire or puncture in the year and a half I have been riding it. I didn't even order the rear brake, which for me was an extra $25 that I did not feel like paying, and the front brake works just fine for my daily commute. Overall, I am very pleased with the bike itself and how it functions, and if you take care of it (cleaning it, adjusting brakes when needed, keeping drive train lubed/oiled and clean, etc.) you should not have any problems with the bike. I see no reason to go buy a more expensive single speed, like Pure Fix for example, when this will do the same exact thing for less money.
