Another TODD'S TIPS! Todd Tuckey shows you how to solve LOTS of intermittent problems (like coils not working, sound cuts off, losng track of balls, different coils not working, game shuts off, etc. It affects these system 80B games: Bounty Hunter, Chicago Cubs, Tag Team, Rock, Raven, Genesis, Hollywood Heat, Gold Wings, Monte Carlo, and Spring Break...that all use the SQUARE white molex connectors.
This is TRIED AND PROVEN EFFECTIVE for the last 20 years! It takes 15 minutes and is done easily.

    Thanks for making this video. I have a System 80B game that is giving me all sorts of problems and it sounds like based on what I have read it could be related to grounding. I still have the molex connectors on the game so I have high hopes doing this fix will correct some of the problems.

    As we get time, we try to fit in the videos. We had to do the ground mod on this ROCK and we had spare time to film it. It then took me perhaps 90 more minutes to edit/title/add clips/research the games it fixes and upload it. The end result is a video helps people, but it actually does not bring in any income for us. So this type of video has to be done when I can squeeze it in. Most of our videos do offer pointers and tips we squeeze in here and there! Keep watching!!

    your problem sounds like a switch line rather than a coil...possibly a wire broken off one of the playfield switches (they loop 6 to 8 in a line) or a blown switch line. Usually its the switch line associated with the lane change switch.

    Hey Todd (I'm new to pin repairing) when you say the power supply and daughter board needs to be reheated. Does that mean just reflow the solder?

    Question, what exactly is "re-heating" the power supply and logic board? Tried googling and couldn't really find anything, I may have an 80b soon and don't have much exp with pinball machines (just game controller boards and PCs) and I'd rather not screw it up.

  • @tntamusements

    @tntamusements

    It means the header pins are reflowed with new solder... The original solder tends to crack at the base causing possible intermittent connections.

  • @tntamusements

    I think Bad Girls has individual wires going to the transformer on bottom, but each wire has its own pin. Check and make sure NONE of the pins appear burned...if they are, change those pins. Also, the little satellite board on the logic board always has ice cold solder connections on it...its tricky to reheat though, but that usually solves boatload of intermittent problems too.

  • @tntamusements

    @tntamusements

    7 жыл бұрын

    Glad you like the videos....the excalibur I think as the long molex connectors...an upgrade...you can do it differently...no wire cutting...instead, take off the two boards mounted to the side of the transformer, and reflow new solder on all the header pins...they are cracked, but not as badly as the older style plug...its possible ONE pin may be burned in those 4 connectors...simply moe that pin and wire to an unused spot in connector (replacing the pin in the connector too), so it makes a good ground from a DIFFERENT part of the connector!

    see working inside a computer (DESKTOP!!!) and a pinball game this is all familiar to me. although I've worked on things that give you a shock as well. (something that rhymes with tit -- ahem bad wiring in houses is how I learned to do stuff. although putting on a copper wire counter clockwise is inherently stupid (oops) which is why I like the holes on the new outlets/switches. but not that you've given me the proper area to crimp the above (oh thats why that never works) next tip is how to properly solder something or de solder. I could watch someone else on youtube but they are either in the wrong accent or so dry I can't pay attention X_X (Thanks Curt for keeping me alert )
