69.Installing a Diesel heater on a boat for less than £150

Diesel heater on a boat for less than £150.
I'm not saying this is how you should do it as a permeant fix but how i did it on this boat as a temporary fix.
All pipe should be ISO7840 and a marine grade exhaust which has no holes in it for your BSC. A better fuel filter with water separator is also a better option.

It's only a temporary fix to keep him warm for now but needs to be installed properly but better than him getting to cold.

Really think you should be using marine use silencer which is completely air tight, just a thought

You are completely right that's what i have but he can't afford it at the moment as they are about £50 but he is going to change it when its installed properly same as the pipe work as its better if you have ISO 7840 but again he can't afford it but it is only temporary to give him a bit of heat while he is fixing it for the next month or so.

Fuel filter's back to-front, it's supposed to fill the chamber then make its way through the gauze. Pump should be under the unit so it's pressurizing just fluid and no air .. .. .

These 50p fuel filters that come with it don't have a flow direction on them so you can put it whatever way you like, If you buy a good fuel filter it will have a flow direction on it and a water separator but costs about £35 As for the fuel pump you would struggle to get the pump under the heater especially if you were fitting it in a van as all the pipework goes out underneath. You would also struggle on the initial start up to get the air to go downhill to the pump as air likes to go upward. Thanks for watching this video so closely and pointing these things out as it's always good to know why it is like this. Please feel free to point anything else out in the future.

@@simplyboating4609 If you run your fuel line down from the tank to the base of the wooden stand then the pump fixed to the wooden stand with a short run straight up and into the unit that'd be your best routing. The filter's designed to show contaminants in the chamber - so it fills the large chamber first then that volume is screened before exiting and if neglected, the chamber can retain a lot of debris before strangulation begins.. ... I _only_ use water separator/filter units but my machines are all the expensive German variety!

When installed in vehicles, the pump should always be outside and underneath the unit along with exhaust etc.@@simplyboating4609

Proper? You're having a laugh. Oh look how the jubilee clips arn't big enough. Two min laters, using them on the inlet. Also, you gotta love the application of exhaust paste, but only around two thirds of the joint. This, was a vlog on how to gas yourself!

Great video. Might consider having one put on my yacht for next winter. Although never drilled holes in a hull before and the thought of doing so scares me completely!

Jeff is his name. He seem to go between Beccles and Somerleyton, I don't think he can go much further as his engine over heats i was told. Maybe i will ask him if he would like me to have a look at it as i don't think it's a big problem same as the oil leak he had (small fix if you know how)

@@simplyboating4609 Yes, that's him. His boat is often seen on other youtubers' videos just near the Beccles bridge alot. I guess for a liveaboard you need to be somewhere you can plug into an electric point but didn't think there was any on the free moorings at Beccles? Somerleyton has some and also Reedham and St. Olaves. Does he have a holding tank as I believe you also need one of them to get an annual Licence to be on the Broads?

@@DeeBarrymore There are some free 24 hour moorings in Beccles but i see he is now in the yacht station for the winter. From what i see it's pretty much an empty boat, just a mattress in the cabin and a log burner. He is mid 70 and just needs a bit of help.
