Direct Rail Services Class 66 locomotive 6627 departs from Springs Branch just south of Wigan on the soaking wet morning of Thursday 23rd May 2024.
The class 66 working the Crewe to Carlisle morning return engineers train but was held and stopped here due to flooding at Carlisle amongst other places.
I had only just arrived down for Nigel Gresley so this was a nice bonus to see here on the goods line using the dive under to head back towards Crewe. This position is now extremely overgrown.
The official working today 66427 turned around here at Springs Branch due to flooding north of Preston and at Carlisle

Headed back to Crewe
