65 kg purplebelt submits 130kg blackbelt in competition - De Groot BJJ

Спорт

Dutch Open absolute match. They grouped the purple, brown and black belts all together for the absolute and I fell on the more interesting side of the bracket.
I was matched against this big black belt, being a small purple belt myself.

    The coolest part is that the black belt was smiling immediately after getting up; he appreciated the skill that beat him!

    @@Robinson496 Yes for sure! I feel size is a little bit less important in nogi even, harder to pin the smaller opponents down. I'd recommend managing the distance using knee-shield half guard instead of spider

    Purple belt did GREAT! well done dude. However that BB was sub par to say the least. Doesn't take away from a great victory though. Even if that guy was also a purple belt it would take some mean skills and control to pull off that submission! well done!

    I dunno, I feel like the BB was taking it easy on him. He really wasn't trying to put his weight on him too much. Then again, I've just gotten my Blue I've barely dipped my foot into the BJJ knowledge abyss.

  • @Burzurk1987
    @Burzurk19873 жыл бұрын

    Well, this black belt was in pretty pathetic shape!! He is probably a black belt who was in good shape at one time before he slacked off. He probably got back into the competition circuit because his missed jiujitsu. This is not a good example. This is a classic example of an out of shape higher belt competitor vs a SUPERIOR ATHLETE!

    I figured he would go for the leg lock moves. The other guy has size advantage and it’s hard to sub him.

  • @havenbjj

    Exactly! I had to go for the foot or the neck or the size would be too big of an advantage

    like the way you used your opponents size and weight to secure the submission. That leg lock might not have submitted a lighter opponent.

    on bjj site says fat guy is a hapkido black belt... which would make more sense because he lacked basic passing skills. he gonna get somebody hurt with all that unneeded weight. he is wearing a bjj professor belt though... he isn't even a purple belt in my opinion... with his weight he should be doing bulldog passes all day.

    Sorry but he is definitely not a Black Belt! He has less passing skill than some of our experienced white belts. The PB is doing great but cmon - a regular black belt in his weight class should submit him or at least give him a long and hard fight. A heavier one should always win
