    Other than the fact that space rocks do not swarm like that. (Think about it. They visibly move relative to each other. How they manage to stay in such swarm without drifting away kilometers apart in mere hours?) Other than the fact that collisions with meteoroids have typical relative velocities of a few km/s. Other than the fact that the LAST thing you want to do to patch a punctured ship is to go for an atmospheric reentry. For some reason, the ship seems to have gravity. Even if they have a gravity generation tech, why run it when everyone is asleep? ...

  • @keithmoorechannel

    @keithmoorechannel

    Жыл бұрын

    Yes, this was stupid. Ship traveling interstellar distances would be hitting debris at tremendous forces, and even specks of dust would be fatal much less rocks the size shown. The ship would not have been damaged; it would have been vaporized. Debris danger mitigation via various types of shields is one thing being studied in detail at the moment even for our primitive spacecraft. An interstellar species would have thought about this and solved it. Not to mention the computer would have detected this field way earlier. The producers needed to come up with a better reason for the shipwreck. It seemed lazy. Maybe a computer virus, ‘HAL’ situation, or gamma ray pulse, which could not have been predicted or easily defended against.

    This movie was very interesting I wouldn’t call it the best so far in the year but it is definitely a must watch sci-fi action flick. I give it a 7/10. CGI, action and creature design was amazing but the story could use small work. Otherwise this was a good DINOSAUR movie

    More of a monster movie than a dinosaur movie, as the creatures in this film BARELY resemble dinosaurs at all. They look like the poor man’s Jurassic World tbh, like knockoff toys you’d see at any department store.

    According to IMDb: “The film's dinosaurs went through many phases of development. Early concept art shows more scientifically grounded, realistic prehistoric animals, including herbivores and a Lystrosaurus, a pre-dinosaur animal distantly related to mammals, which suggests the film at one point might have been set in the Triassic period around 250-200 million years ago, rather than the late Cretaceous. Ultimately, attempts at realism were rejected, as fantasy dinosaurs were considered better suited for a science fiction thriller. Thus, feathered dinosaurs like raptors appear in the film as scaly creatures resembling 1970s and 80s reconstructions with quills instead of feathers. Oviraptor, a birdlike dinosaur, is also featherless. T. rex took inspiration from the fictional V. rex seen in King Kong (2005), and it too was given spike-like quills. Some of the film's creatures, like the four-legged predator or the climbing dinosaur were purely imaginary, though they resemble enlarged versions of animals that lived in the Triassic, a rauisuchian and a primitive dinosauromorph. Some remnants of the early concepts survived in the flying reptiles, whose bodies are slightly more accurate to science compared to the film's other monster designs. However, their heads were redesigned to be more monstrous: though barely visible without freeze-framing, their eyes were placed in their nostrils.”

    I saw this movie in the theaters and liked it a lot! It's a clever concept, and the dinosaurs and environment are more grounded/realistic than in the "Jurassic" movies (which mostly feature dinosaurs from the Cretaceous, go figure). But even though I'm a fan of this 65 flick, re-watching the opening few minutes, just now, I found myself thinking, if this numb-nutz asks his terminally ill daughter ONE MORE TIME if she's okay, I think I'm gonna' lose it!
