When medical professionals stop saying "diet," people will be more receptive to making life style changes. Do not focus on the pounds but how your blood work improves. Your clothes will become too big as you progress. And progress takes time. Allow yourself whatever amount of time it takes to get healthy. You deserve it. ❤ Surgery is not a cure; it is a tool like exercise and healthy eating. Learn how to cook; take a culinary course at a college or watch a lot of video's. Learn about seasonings and herbs, and cooking methods. Have FUN learning and creating flavorful meals. That's how I lost 150 lbs in 2 years and continue since 2005. ❤

You act like others didn't work hard on this show. Yes some didn't even try, but most did and struggled. It's not easy to loose weight and usually there is a deeper issue on why they got so heavy. She wasn't the only one.

I feel like a big part of Nikki's success was the fact that she had such a supportive family. I mean, her parents were counting Calories with her, if that doesn't show love I don't know what does.

Keep in mind the enablers are usually dealing with a manipulative person. IE they get angry if their family member doesn’t bring them whatever food they want.

I didn’t sense any resentment from the parents for only eating 1200 calories either. That’s not an easy lifestyle to maintain and they did it happily

Who are you to be proud of her?

My niece had to lose 60 pounds to qualify for her bariatric surgery. Once her goal was achieved, she told the doctor that she refused the operation and would settle for a diet. She lost 150 pounds and has been at a healthy weight for 5 years now. She runs every day and sometimes does triathlons.

When she said “see you next month, 50 pounds down!” I immediately felt her success. I knew she was going to do it. God bless her!

@veronikavysoudilova9697 was about to say. ~150lbs or 68kg is normal for 5ft6 female even for BMI, and 95-115lbs (like 43-50kg) for 5ft6 female is clearly underweight if not severely so the more you're skewed toward 95lbs even for BMI. People don't know what 95lbs female looks like don't they?

She’s so self aware; “i take it one meal at a time otherwise i’ll get overwhelmed”. I’m a recovering addict, getting my 6months in a few days, and this is the only way I made it this far. “I won’t use for this hour” I’m so happy and proud watching this video! Sad way to live hour by hour especially at 6 months. Some days it has to be like that but not every day otherwise the drugs are still controlling you just as much as they were before because you’re thinking of them 24/7. Get a hobby. Start living. Stop counting sober days and making it an obsession!

649 lbs and struts down that hall. Her ability to walk so well with such great posture with that much weight is astounding.

She wasn't "strutting" at all; that's the only way she had of carrying her large abdomen---I'm nowhere near Nikki's size, but as an overweight person, I have to lean back sometimes to do the same thing. But yes, her mobility is/was amazing (the show ended around 2016, hence the past tense). Most of the people on the show didn't bother to get up to go to the bathroom, and here she was walking and at least staying mobile. She got down to around 200 pounds before the show ended, and I'd like to see her now.

I've seen this episode before. That was one of the first indicators she was going to be more willing to follow the plan on her own. She still walked, drove, and worked (as a costume designer at a theater) at 650 lbs. I can't think of another patient off the top of my that you can say that about. Her family was the most supportive too. It always amazes me to see the number of households where everyone else is still eating crap and expecting the patient to follow Dr. Now's diet or even making fun of their diet or telling them they can cheat. Not this family, they jumped right on board with her.

Love when Dr. Now tells his patients he's proud of them. You can tell he really means it. Way to go, Nikki! Great job

You know he means it when he says it because he's a very blunt guy and tells it like it is. So when he gives a compliment, you know it's sincere because he doesn't deal them out easily.

Manipulative beast. Yes. That´s almost standard. Occasionally it´s someone else in the malfunctioning familes. Saw a teenage girl who was doing fine when she was in a camp, once she came back home to her Mum she became this depressed overeating persona again...

The box of candy scene where she said it wasn’t respectful to herself was a beautiful moment of self love

I love it that her family counted calories with her. It was cute of her dad, "OH! I FORGOT THE TOSTADA!"

The fact that her parents supported her by following the diet with her shows real support and dedication and love

This episode was from about 7 or 8 years ago, if I remember correctly. She attained her weight loss goal---she got down to 150 pounds---and got married, but there's been nothing about her since the show ended 7 or 8 years ago.

Anyhow, bashing people is not going to help to make them lose weight. They probably would start even to gain weight when treated like that! Are you aware that some people have a medical condition that made them fat? Yes, some people eat way too much and got fat cuz of that.. BUT that usually has reasons as well like trauma. No one deserves to be bashed. No one is fat because they like to be like that. It’s sad enough to be in that situation. No need to make it worse! Making fun of people because of their looks.. even bashing them for it.. how ignorant and childish. Get some decency!

It took being told I was borderline diabetic to finally get me to start losing weight. I'm still obese, but no longer morbidly obese. I have a long way to go, am currently 165.1lb, so need to lose another 55lb. To anyone struggling, you can do this

Dr now has to be so relieved whenever he gets a patient that actually tries and listens and don’t argue with him

Super proud of her for doing the work and of her family for getting behind her

110 pounds in 2 months is OUTSTANDING my goodness

Her attitude was fantastic! Her parents also got to work. They not only stopped enabling her but changed their habits and did the calorie counting with her. As soon as they all recognized their bad actions, they all turned it around. I hope that they should all be really proud of themselves.

I like her a lot. Her smile, her hope and the hard work. Her family is so supportive and loving, such a lovely household in general.

Dad counting calories with her was the best! Keeping each other accountable and motivating each other. I would imagine it would be a very lonely experience if your family didn't support you.

Seeing her gives me renewed hope in this program. There was a long run of end stagers that made recovery impossible. But Nikki is a breath of fresh air. I wish her continued success

Shes the only person on this show that has been honest about their eating habits and actually did the work! I love how supportive her family were too. I love this for her ❤

Nikki seems like a lovely young woman who knows exactly what she wants and is willing to put in the work to get there. I love her mellow voice, kind face and she truly has one of the best dispositions I've seen in a long time. I hope everything went well for her. She deserves all the happiness she wants. Also, her parents got onboard and realised that they were making mistakes too, they realigned their approach alongside their daughter, that's some wholesome parenting.

As an obese person this story inspired me. This young lady has worked hard and got results. Luckily I’m not in need of bariatric surgery and am still at a point where I can reverse what I’ve done through activity and calorie reduction. I will track my food consumption of the next 3 days and make the necessary adjustments to move forward.

I like her. She has determination and strength. I wish her all the best. She wants this badly, and her successes proved that.

The fact her family stepped up and supported her even msking changes for themselves helped her immensely. And she faced facts, there were no excuses like the others made, no manipulation, no BS.

Her family was being so supportive, no negativity there at all, and that makes a ton of difference for her physically and mentally, kudos to the whole family!

Very proud of her, she really took the program seriously and did not give any excuses. Finally a person that really wants something so bad that she accomplished beyond the goal that Dr. Now gave. And everyone is in it with her and she is getting the support and encouragement to be motivated to go beyond her expectations. Can't wait to see how things go. Shows a difference when the family is supportive and do it together

Just on a side note: I was impressed by how mobile she was, given her initial weight. She's a strong person, both physically and mentally. She's not afraid of a challenge, whether that's just walking down a hallway, or giving up her beloved eating habits.

She is an amazing woman. Ive known her most of my life and im still astounded by all the weight she lost❤

She said the doctor is giving her an amazing chance - NO she gave it to herself. It was her that put in all of that work 😊 I’m so happy for her I got a little emotional. ❤ HalleluYAH for giving her strength and willpower to make it another day!

OMG…this woman and her family made me smile so big! I don’t know her but I was so proud of her!! I was absolutely thrilled for her and them. This is such an appropriate time for a YOU GO GIRL!!! She made my eyes tear up and my heart warm and smile from ear to ear. I’d love an update cause she’s just the best person I’ve ever seen on this show as far as attitude and hard work and earning the life she wants. I cannot be the only one who got so excited for her. ❤

When his patients make the effort, Dr. Now seems to be so kind. Hope this lady continues to do well and kudos to her very supportive family.

She's very lucky to have such supportive and loving parents.

This made my heart light up! I am so happy for her. I truly hope there is an update

I had this surgery in January. Since then, I've hung up my cane, I can walk so much further without stopping, I'm not out of breath and changing my diet was the easiest thing. Down 90+lbs from my highest weight with 110 to go. I recommend this to anyone who has the mental fortitude to stick with it. The worst thing about it, literally, are the chewable multivitamin for the first 6 months.

That shows how important is to have a support system, everybody was helping her and she felt motivated.

This is the first time watching these videos that I feel that is a wonderful family! Her dad is a good looking man, if her mom can lose the weight too I can see she is very pretty and their daughter will definitely be very beautiful when she loses the weight! I can see how not only they’re attractive, but really good people too! I’m so happy for her! She truly does have a beautiful heart and soul, and so do her parents.

Her families support was absolutely amazing. That’s definitely not typical on this show. This was a great episode!

Congratulations to someone who really wanted to change. Plus, I love her glasses.

One of my favourite episodes. The relationship with her disabled brother was so sweet. Such a lovey family.

She came with doubt but despite had a lot of positivity that she could pull through and lose the wait. She is a true inspiration. Have to give her family credit as well, because they also made the change along side her. She had the best support system she could get. These episodes always warm my heart.

Exactly. I know he needs to be harsh, and he's dealt with a lot of crap patients, but he needs to tell his patients that actually work hard, that they did great, and that he's proud. They need to hear that. He definitely comes off as a little condescending, too sometimes.

A person addicted to food throwing out any unhealthy things in their pantry is like an opiate addict throwing out their last 2 bags of heroin. I cannot imagine how difficult that is. I give her all the credit in the world

That's not really an apt comparison because a heroin addict who throws out the last bag of heroin is in for about 2 or 3 weeks of absolute misery , anxiety, no sleep, body pain and extreme nausea , diarrhea and vomiting and then probably 6 months of trying to get your body temperature and mental state back to something like normal. The addictions are similar, yes, but stopping a heroin habit cold turkey is MUCH worse than changing your diet.

Even if u cld not get the surgery u proved to yourself u cld do it on your own GREAT JOB SWEETIE
