If Val or Hammer did what Sua’ali’i did to Walsh to Tedesco, and teddy had to go off for the game, there’s no way they’d have the same take. It just didn’t impact Qld as much because we had cobbo on the bench.

The bench was irrelevant. If cobbo wasnt on the bench he was 18th man. Either way he’s still in the game isn’t he. The reality is that call sealed the game. 7mins in the game was decided by a referee decision. That’s the issue. Send off when Walsh slipped into it is rough. Reece played a big part of that tackle going like that. Change the rule so after a certain amount of time it goes back to 13v13 so the whole game isn’t ruined by one decision. 20mins of 12v13 then back to 13v13 would be fair. At least then, there’s a chance for a contest.

@@dbo4506 I don’t think it sealed the game. I think it did play a role. But I was nervous for the first 20mins in the second half. The only reason we started winning again is because of DCE’s 40/20 and Coates saving a NSW 40/20. Also if NSW reacted quicker and put Crichton where sua’ali’i would be as soon as he was sent off, wouldn’t have been 20-6 at half time. I think you should watch the hit again in slow motion, Reece does slip but his head barely drops in height. Joey would’ve still hit him in the head slip or no slip. So If you can honestly say that you guys wouldn’t want a QLD player sent off if Val or the hammer knocked out Tedesco exactly like that, then fair enough but I don’t think you guys would have the same outlook.

I was at a pub filled with NSW fans watching the game. Everyone in the pub fuckin yelled at the screen when NSW got a penalty a few minutes before the send off for a dangerous tackle telling Klein to keep his whistle in his pocket. NSW fans don't want an easy leg up or for soft penalties to go our way, we want a good contest because we know the lads can get up if the reff stays out of it. We were robbed of that contest, Queenslanders don't get origin and are happy with bs wins and are afraid of a fair contest so they cheer on send offs. NSW fans would still be pissed even if it happened to us. If Valentine did the same to Teddy we wouldn't be running to daddy Klein for help like qld did, we would be watching Val get umped by the NSW players for the rest of the game, we'd handle our own business.

There have been NSW teams that have got origin better than Queensland, but they had great captains like Laurie Daley, Joey, and Freddy, and were coached by Gus Gould. We haven't been able to emulate that since. For me, Laurie Daley got origin the most of any Blues player.

If you think the Walsh hit is only a bin then how about the next origin Cleary plays we send collins at his legs when hes kicking, or do a hip drop on him, or just flog him so high and hard he goes catatonic. Collins to the bin for 10, Cleary out for the game or season, play on. This will be the regular if tackles like that are only a bin. Players will be a lot more reckless, especially against the great players if they only risk 10 minutes. So all we end up with is our great players in hospitals and in wheelchairs. QLD sweep the right side before the incident in a block shape play on our right edge and burn us then score the first try. QLD use the exact same play after that try and Suali'i reads it comes out of his line to jam Walsh. Reece slips into the tackle and gets KOd. This is Origin not Golf. QLDrs loving the 2 v 1 Gagai punching Burton whilst Tino has him in a headlock a few series ago there was no talk of player welfare then? Not to mention Teddy getting a body slam by Jai Arrow whilst being clearly KOd.

The send off rule is a huge issue. If it is really about safety, it needs to be changed. It should be unusable in its current state. Sending off has to be offending player off for the game, x week suspension, team down a player on the bench for the rest of the game, but back to 13 players after 20min. There is 0 need to fuck up the product completely, for both teams and everyone watching. It creates an unfair competition. Pure stupidity. I’m a pure blood Queenslander.
