@khalidamajoud4114 Exactly. It is because Microsoft can't create. They aren't a creative company at all. Their entire existence is from buying someone else's idea and trying to push others out the market until MS is in a position to be the strongest option. The reason it worked so well in the OS market was because it was new and growing. By the time MS entered the Gaming Market, it was already grown with established entities. Pair that with the fact the market thrives on creativity and MS is suddenly out of its depth. At E3 2013, MS tried to blackmail consumers with DRM and forced Internet, even to this day, you cannot turn an Xbox on with making a MS Account. Fast forward 10 years, they resorted to using their wealth to circumvent creativity and consumer choice and buy out the existing market share to once again blackmail consumers into their ecosystem, holding the existing demand and brand identity as hostage over fans across various platforms for decades. MS refuses to bail out of the market because it's the biggest generating entertainment industry and want a pie but are incapable to perform within the market to generate demand and wealth as they don't know how to. Bare in mind that over 260 GTAVs could have been made with the money MS has used to buy out Zenkmax and ABK. MS, instead of sitting down and working hard for consumers to choose them, or make new ideas and market, they used money to circumvent all that. They rather try to get a few minds of regulators to accept their buyouts instead of getting consumers to accept their ecosystem. It's extremely saddening that regulators allowed the buyouts to happen. Media is art and is unique, it should not be allowed to be bought out and used to rug pull by anyone who has a platform.

I can't remember who brought it up, but someone mentioned a good point how it probably cost Microsoft more money to get Timed Exclusive Deals because Xbox is just niche by comparison to PlayStation & Nintendo, doing Exclusivity Deals with Xbox is substantially more riskier and less beneficial for Third-Party Developers because Xbox does not have mass market appeal like PlayStation & Nintendo. Look at the fact that the Timed Exclusivity Deal for Rise of the Tomb Raider cost Microsoft $100 Million, had Sony & Square Enix worked out a deal to get Rise of the Tomb Raider to be a PlayStation Timed Exclusive, it probably would have cost Sony maybe $30-$50 Million because it would have been less riskier to make Rise of the Tomb Raider a PlayStation Timed Exclusive over an Xbox Timed Exclusive, and Tomb Raider was already synonymous with PlayStation anyway. Granted I doubt Sony were even interested in Rise of the Tomb Raider at the time, only reason Xbox were keen on getting it Timed Exclusive was because they needed SOMETHING to compete with PlayStation's Uncharted 4, but Xbox had nothing.

People think MS giving up on consoles is the issue, that isn’t it. Remember that leaked meeting where they said they can’t compete with Sony’s TLOU2 type quality games. That’s the problem. They gave up on quality games a long time ago. They knew they can’t compete with Sony’s mocap and movie studios helping with their games. Giving up on quality games lead to giving up on consoles later.

Terrible animated cut scenes, etc. hell I bet a lot of the games will have story/comic book type cut scenes. They’re cutting corners, not striving to be better with each release like Sony’s studios.

Just to add to my thoughts, it's great to say you have access to hundreds of games, but the question is, how many of those games are you actually playing? You'll probably find you're better off buying and owning the hand full of titles you actually want to play, rather than pouring more and more money into a service where you'll eventually own nothing. And if you're willing to wait for sales and not buy games the minute they release, $240 can go a long way.

Xbox never created any games so the confidence in Xbox wasn't here

We kept saying this is not sustainable and buy your games, also all companies need a return on investment, hence job loss, studio closures and price increases, game pass is not the best deal in gaming

It's not exactly true that Sony porting their games to PC has no benefit to PS5 owners. That extra money from the PC ports can be invested into games like Wolverine which PS5 owners get to play first. It allows them to invest more in their studios. That's my own view, but Hermen Hulst literally said in an interview a couple years back that additional sales from PC allows them to invest deeper into projects.

Lets be honest here, we all have seen better days in gaming as a whole. This is a new generation with new and different business practices rather good or bad. Sony is Nike and Xbox is Reebok. We know Nike is the better sneaker/apparel. You honestly don't see ppl wearing Reebok on a regular basis but for some reason it's still around making money with apparel and footwear and staying relevant even though they can never surpass Nike ultimately.

I have no confidence in anything Microsoft does with handhelds. The windows phone. Zune. Mixer. Anything new they drop suddenly.

PS+ price hike isn’t comparable to GP, cause the service isn’t a priority to Sony nor they want it to be. They still want purchasing culture with their customers. While GP is the focal point for Xbox.

There's no point in Microsoft having timed exclusives. They already tried exclusive games, they tried more powerful, they tried being cheaper. None of it worked. They'll treat Xbox like they treat the rest of Microsoft, they'll put their software on any hardware possible

The only actually good 'Xbox' Games were made by Insomniac (Sunset Overdrive) and Capcom (Dead-Rising 3), both Third-Party Devs (at the time), and Sunset Overdrive flopped on Xbox, cause even when you b@stards DO get a good game, you don't support it, same thing happened with Alan Wake on the 360, y'all had a great game that flopped so badly they had to backtrack on the Xbox Exclusivity and put it on PC just to make back Development Cost.

The thing I don't understand, and we all heard Tim dog say it, is that Xbox fans want what Sony offers. @@Looptroop98 nobody playin playstation games because most of them are remasters, and they finished them in 2013, with no mp or replayability (unless you want to sit through 3 hours of cutscnenes per playthrough) funny how sea of thieves is doin better than God of war and still being played and even enjoyed by ps fans 6 years after release, meanwhile GOW 2018 is? i enjoy sony games for my alone time, they take a week max to finish then its back to actual games i play REGULARLY. fortnte, halo, cod are spoken of in terms of mp and playerbases and are played for years after relase, GOW and horizon are not.

You're wrong about the PS3 and cell... They were simply proud of the chip they created with IBM and invested hundreds of millions in. It's actually exactly the same as the PS5 and the SSD / IO system. If this didn't work so well it would be the same situation. Cell could be used so extremely flexibly that there were no specifications and every developer actually used it differently. This is also the problem why there is no emulator that works on the fly and the games even have to be adapted. Of course, the aftertaste remains that the PS3 didn't work as hoped, but back then they tried, as so often does, to enrich the market with an innovation

It did work, ps3 still won the gen and Sony STILL won and the ps3 did what it did. What ppl don't understand is the REASON, Sony got into games in the first place wad to shill CD'S.... Sony wad and I think still is on the consortium for 💿.. And they pused to make cd's the dominant media and( Sony is not the only ones who were in on it) it worked back in 1996 and cd became the new normal for music and computer, and when ps3 came out the push was Blu ray and it's comp was HD dvds 📀. So Sony put a blue ray player in there ps( which wad a huge deal, I bought my ps3 at laumch for 600 and it still works and Blu ray playets were anywhere from 400 to 1k bucks at the time..) But that did make Blu ray the preferred media again, so yea maybe it was a loss leader for ps3 and playstion, bit the money they made on selling the cell processes and Blu rays, it's an over all win. Ppl like to kill ps3, cuz devs were lazy, and didn't want to work with the cell( this is where Sony and Xbox learned there lesson about 3rd party games developers they always Dev to the lowest platform) Ps3 gets way to much flack

A 3rd party Xbox has to be the second dumbest thing I heard on this podcast.OH yeah, Dell is going to get 50 million with their xbox when MS can't get a solid 30. FOH. 3rd party companies are not going to pay MS to make was is essentially the BetaMAX of consoles.

Dell doesn’t have to sell 50 million. For Dell,m or any other manufacturer it’s just selling a PC disguised as a console. These manufacturers are doing the same exact thing they are doing when they sell PC and that just getting the software. Basically, they are selling prebuilt PC just now disguised as a console.

Whew boy. Excellent Podcast. Damn was that enlightenment for ya ass. Long Post incoming Thing is a lot of this is down to company culture. Microsoft tends to give up on ideas quick. That's why Zune collapsed, Mixer collapsed, etc… etc. Moore, and Ed Fries are why they stuck with gaming so long. And why they initially had a lot of hunger for it. Phil Spencer is basically trying to secure his job and ultimately I see him as more of the type to easily fold to Microsoft. Likely partly due to Xbox having such little impact on their revenue, he doesn't have leverage to convince Microsoft of its importance. Sony on the contrary stays & adapts or revisits & adapts. Xperia still exists despite their failure in mobile. They attempted heavy Live Service and Multiplayer push during PS3 gen. DCUO was D&D even. They technically broke ice back on PS1 with PC. Had established PC games division during PS2 or end of PS1. Just social media didn't exist. As for what he's talking about the third party, it makes sense strategically to “buy the bank”. But the better road was to try to fund as many quality projects as possible to grow interest and market share. What Sony did with PS3. Then sign deals when you recover market share. As for the Live Service, I suspect Sony wants to establish evergreen games now because these games could have undying loyalty next gen. New wifeys and potentially remarried couples (which could happen with Destiny PVP folks for Concord SNK mentioned Maybe even Valorant and CoD divorcees). Personally I'm rooting for many fast Early successes just to get rid of the desire to commit to those other six they indefinitely delayed. As for PalWorld, I think Sony is not a fan of Early Access because that Playstation brand represents quality. And Early Access essentially hinders that. But with establishing Pal World Entertainment, it's pretty much assured a PS5 version is in the works. And I think it's announced with a big free expansion. As for Pro and Jaydub speculation, I think the same. I think Playstation Pro lets them extend this generation. Because they have no competition, they have to release at the same time as. Switch 2 will likely be only as strong as PS4 Pro. I think the PS5 Pro could be $649 to $700. And I often mention that Playstation's 2nd wave hasn't started for their premiere 1st party studios and GTA6 hasn't released. So I imagine they want to fully draw out and maximize this generation's market share. Their PC Plan seems delusional, but 30% of the PS5 owners never owned a PS4. So those new owners could have come from PC, Xbox, new gamers who were enticed by the cinematic adaptation. I personally don't vibe, but they're getting the data somewhere. And PS5 Pro may entice them more. Lastly, Cerny was greatly underestimated IMO because I think they took the wrong lessons from X1X vs PS4 Pro. They also had the Teraflop advantage. So they really thought they could repeat the same thing But they didn't really take the SSD/IO into account. Nor SmartShift. Long Post finished.

What's the worst thing about these price hikes isn't the price hike it's self. It's the fact that there is no new major benefit to say at least this is worth the increase now. No new feature, no improvement, no difference. I can't jump on this band wagon much as I hate shit box because it is utterly pointless to even turn on now a days because psn has done and will do the same thing in time again. I remember when I bought my ps4 and a 3 month membership would be like 17 dllars I think. The full year was about 50. Then that price got increased to the point that the full year is like 80+ now just for basic service. No one should be stupid enough to not expect that to increase again one random day yet the worst part is nothing for our benefit ever changes. Game servers still suck dick and use lots of peer to peer connections, psn/shit box services will drop out of no where affecting EVERYTHING online unlike pc, and they can't even give some bull shit pr excuse to even say why they do it so at least we can laugh at the excuse.

@@dusermiginte4647 - Unlike Xbox, PlayStation has had a GOTY Contender, sometimes multiple GOTY Contenders since 2015, and PlayStation can have one light year of First-Party offerings since unlike Xbox, PS has been consistently releasing First-Party Games until now, and we're still getting games via Second-Party & Third-Party deals, and I count 14 PS Games to Xbox's 3 Games. Just remember; y'all didn't have an issue with MS not releasing any First-Party Games in 2018, 2019, 2020 & 2022, so I don't want hear sh@t from you Xbox Fanboys about what PS has/hasn't got in 2024, especially not after all that fake hype about Hellblade 2 and it's minimum 2 hours of gameplay, which hasn't even sold 10k and this was supposed to be Xbox's BIG RELEASE of 2024.

I’ve said it a lot. I 100% want Xbox to make a handheld. I’ve have been off that platform for about 2 years now and I left my collection behind. 250+ games would go great for a handheld. Hardware wise, they could licence out the current Xbox UI as console / gaming mode and windows as the desktop mode. Like the surface they have their own hardware (handheld or console) but they also licence out the(current console) UI so devices like the ROG ally can effectively also become Xboxes. It would save hardware companies like ASUS time and money in R&D.

They don't and won't. Handheld is just a stop gap, xbox tried to get game pass on playstation bit haggle over the price, once they hash that out xbox and your games will be on playstation once they go full 3rd party as a " ea play sorta thing" Gibe it 3 or 6 years, xbox is full 3rd party and it's games and profile will be on it

lol and about those subs to all those networks for tvs is exactly why I only use free streaming sites that have all of those tv shows and are free. Go in with a popup blocker and you're good with out all of those ridiculous charges. Plus with all these modern day woke pandering yas queen shows I really wouldn't miss out and stop so fast in a tv show at many times even on free web sites so I could never see dealing with those subs.

Not to call you a dumb ass, but..... When something is FREE you are the product my friend, nothing is free, iv been to the streaming sites and I have been for last 20 years, what they don't tell you is the pop up blocks are just the half, lots of them sites are installing key stroke loggers as spieware and or making tour pc into a slave( whete they remotely use your procc8ng power to run things on there end, for crypto winning or what not). You are paying.....your just to dumb/ignorant to know that. But gl with that, hope you don't do anything with your personal info on that pc, but your proformance of your pc will degrade little by little. Nothing is free

BG3 was in early access since 2020. It didn’t officially release until 2023

Where is the PlayStation news... who gives a shit about Xbox n gamepass when none of us have it. Concord is ass, no good characters, and movement is slow as hell.

Gamepass ultimate is 16.99$ now but the price hike is gonna be 20$. Everybody was saying 25$-30$ which I knew was not gonna happen. Time to downgrade my PlayStation premium to essential only.

Because they don’t provide nothing for me, I’m literally giving them free money being on the premium tier. That’s why I’ma just switch to essentials now.
