    Repetition. Settings. Gap. Comfort. They make it look easy. Continue trying the harder positions to get better at the others. Angle your plate to forty-five an lean away or towards you to simulate 6g. This will make the regular four positions easier in relatively.

    Thanks for the video! I definitely needed this. I’ve been blowing holes in my plates in class haha. I’ll try this next time and see if i can control the heat more by not pulling out as much. I have to take my test soon.

    @@downhilldaddy9346 Well I have my mig and flux certifications, but I’m working on stick now and I’ll do tig next. As far as a career goes I’m hoping I can make it on a pipeline or do some other structural work. Might try to join the local union.

    I’m in spot practicing where 80 amps is a bit too hot, and 75 seems too cold my keyhole keeps closing and snuffing the arc. Drives me nuts

    When stitching only touch the puddle after it solidifies so go up and wait till the puddle cools down then touch it again and repeat that method, thats how i learned

    I see that your rod angle is almost perpendicular; I see, in other videos, welders using slight upward (20˙?) rod angle... Does that make a difference? Thanks!

    I always see the wide gaps low heat. Alot harder then people think. But a tighter gap requires more heat snd you gotta move faster so end of the day. Its preference.

    I asked around yesterday: it's basically the upwards whip and pause technique. I believe the teacher in this video repeats "touch your puddle" not because you actually do it, but to stick in your mind that your arc length should stay minimal

    Do you mess with arc force/dig at all or no? I find running anything lower then 75 has me sticking like crazy. I understand all machines are different but I’m just curious

    I run my roots at 60-65. You have to make sure you long arc it before you get going though or else you’ll just glob up and stick. Anything higher than 65 for me and my keyhole just gets out of control

    DC + is reverse polarity and Welding pipe is Down hill is DC- straight polarity Which mean welding 6010 plate root pass is DC+ right?

    Welding pipe with a downhill progression using SMAW/Stick process will be DC+/reverse polarity. Typically you will use DC-/straight polarity with FCAW/flux core or with GTAW/Tig processes
