LNER A4 Steam Locomotive No 60007 has had.4998 too "Sir Nigel Gresley" makes for a beautiful classic sight heading north along the west coast main line and through Springs Branch south of Wigan on the morning of Wednesday 5th June 2024.
The steam locomotive was hailing the northbound leg of “The Fellsman” Railtour from Crewe to Carlisle with the steam doing Chester to Carlisle sections both via the Settle & Carlisle line with BR Green 47810 on hand at the rear. She was booked to stop at Bamfurlong but was typically allowed to run to Springs Branch to allow an Avanti service to pass.
A really nice loud departure away from the signal to head the short distance to Wigan North Western to pickup more passengers. A4s being my favourite steam engine class it's lovely to see them still going strong. Inonic whistle as she heads further away too.
