    3 жыл бұрын

@@scottmac-cheeserae4531 Wow, I’m always astounded as to how easy some individuals like yourself are triggered by the mere mention of the word “God”. It’s hard to fathom why an innocuous post that is merely congratulatory in its very nature could elicit such a response. As you demean this individual for the mere utterance of the word “Godspeed” you then seem to elevate science as your substitute for God. Do you know what this is technically called? Scientism. If your curious you might want to research the term. First and foremost, everyone in this great country has the right to believe or not believe in whatever they want. That being said, even if you have an atheistic or nihilistic outlook or view of the world and thus life itself, that is still a type of belief structure, even if you espouse or maintain a belief in nothingness. However, just know that I have it under pretty good authority that what you refer to as the 'sciences' were devised by man not as a substitute for God but rather as a means to better understand his grandeur and magnificence. Surely, you understand that countless men and women who dabble in the sciences can still be men and women of faith. As one does not, in and of itself, negate the other. Rather, they might argue or contend that scientific inquiry is the means by which man seeks a greater sense of understanding about the delicate and often intricate complexities of the world and universe in which we live and exist. Does this prove the existence of God? This depends on what tangibles you are looking for. I contend that the proof of God exists all around us. The belief in a Supreme Godhead that spearheaded creation is an active act of faith. That being said, I would never denigrate someone for not believing that’s just not how I roll. But hey to each his or her own. All I can do is wish you and those like you the best of luck in whatever life means to you. As you are a man of the sciences, I am sure that I don’t have to tell you but in case you need a friendly refresher many of the different scientific disciplines we now know today were first discovered by men of the cloth (i.e., religious). Their contributions are of inestimable value and they include but are not limited to: • Father Roger Bacon invented what is now known as the “scientific method”. • Augustinian monk Gregor Mendel founder of the modern science of genetics • Father Georges Lemaitre proposed the revolutionary concept of what he referred to as the “cosmic egg” as being the spark or genesis of the universe. Most now simply refer to this concept as the “Big Bang Theory”. • Sister Mary Kenneth Keller of the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary was the first American woman to earn a PhD in Computer Science and thus went on to help invent computer programming languages. And this does not take into account that the university system of the Western world was created by the Catholic Church. In other words, these earliest institutions delved into more than theology because as man’s curiosity and inquisitiveness began to grow so too did the desire to know more completely about the God of all life. In some form or fashion this is most likely what drove these individuals and their respective scientific research endeavors. The belief in God in no way stifles scientific inquiry unless the research in question broaches into areas that are deemed as controversial, even to most in the scientific community. Case in point, researchers in China have begun experimenting with hybridization of human and primate DNA. There has been an outcry by the international science community that this is crossing a proverbial road too far.

My H&K Kimber and colts set dormant in my safe. My Wilson combat is my go to gun. When I go to the range I'll hand my 1911 Wilson over to a friend and after he pulls the trigger once he stops looks at the gun and says figures it's a Wilson. People know that own one.
