Wish me luck Hilary is gonna pound me 😨😨 at least I got the class out on time this week! I had this video idea as a joke, not thinking I could come up with 60 tips but I guess I was wrong lol. I have enough for another 60 in the future! Hope it helps a bro

I hope the storm leaves you unscathed. Thank you for this video! I look forward to your art school each week and am also enjoying the curriculum on the main art program. Been doodling, sketching and drawing for roughly four decades and your tips really did help this (female) bro. :-)

HI, where is the link for art challenges. I don't need any awards but it would be nice if you create a group where we can participate in challenges created by you and be ranked every month. I love to draw put sometime I feel like I need art competion to improve my skills.

A year of classes compressed to one video, really simple and really easy to understand, this will really help the one's who're new to art. I can share this instead of bringing to burn myself out convincing the younglings.

Wow! He used your timestamps for the chapters! 🤯🎉 cool
"Your art style will find you" is the tip i needed years ago
Sure more and more people are getting better at drawing and more confident since Marc started this channel
life-changing but still a lot to consume for my brain haha!
This are amazing tips. I wish you have a tutorial book because I would buy it in a heartbeat.
damm I went from a begginer artist to pro concept artist at blizzard in 8 minutes , thanks marc !
Great stuff, especially the lifestyle section at the end - it’s too easy to forget that we evolved to be out hunting etc. for a large part of the day and therefore don’t get enough exercise. I’d love to hear your take on the phenomenon that happens when you spend too long focussing on artwork (especially faces) and you lose all sense of objectivity. Then when you come back the next day, you think “what the heck is that thing?!”
One thing I'd like to mention is that a lot of these are actually applicable to other arts as well! Not just the visual ones, which is really cool to see overlap. For a lot of these, especially at the end, I'd recommend them for creators of all kinds, from musicians to storytellers. The part about your style finding you really hits home. While I love to draw, I love it in part because I love to write, and the goal of "I want to be able to draw my characters" came from that. Recently I was rereading some old pieces to edit them, and my style was visible to me on the page, with a kind of funny clarity of "Wow, my writing style really fits -specific genre and format-." I mentioned it to a friend, and their response was a humorous, "You have a niche." Because it was, it's a very specific evocated type. The thing though is that, even if it's not a particular favorite genre for some, I love that style, and I'd be jazzed to be viewed with it. It really is a case of, "Love what you do and your style finds you". Thanks for the tips, Marc! They're wonderful.
When I'm losing my drive and motivation your videos always inspire and cheer me up to get back to studying. It's like a checkpoint, thanks Marc
A good chair - your back will thank you - yes very much true is this! I just spent four years in a camper where everything is built in, unmovable, and arranged and sized in the least ergonomic way possible. Can't skootch back a wee bit or anything. A necessary evil if you're engaged in some sort of remote adventure, but suffer no longer than truly necessary for the goal of the adventure.
That back pain one is so real, I’m 25 and have had weeks of pain from one day I took it too far 😢
Another impressive video Senpai. 🙇♂️ THANX!
Marc, a year ago i commented on a video saying i hope im not just copying and a year later i can say that all the tips and tricks have helped from your vids. As a ful time working dad it gives me joy now coming back from a 10hr delivery shift and still being able to sketch out portraits that are reasonable and proportional. Only 2 years into my art journey and already youve done more to help than any books or teachers have, thank you so much!
I love how he also added some mental psychology in making art i feel like its underated most of the youtubes just talk about technical side
1. Process matters. Always draw details in this order: Big > Medium > Small. 2. Don't shade with black. Use a color that fits with the environment. 3. Use color harmonies if you need ideas for coloring. 4. Make sure your drawings balance warm and cool colors. 5. If you're painting skin, color the terminator line with the color of the character's blood for more realism. 6. Use a soft brush to achieve smooth shading. 7. Selection tool + Soft brush is a great combo. 8. Use only a few brushes and get good at them. 9. Practice shading simple volumes before doing more complicated drawings. 10. Try gradient maps to easily color black/white drawings. 11. Don't use tons on layers. Focus on improving your workflow instead. 12. ALWAYS start with simple volumes before details. 13. Practice gesture drawing often if you want to improve fast at drawing characters. 14. Use the liquify tool to adjust the final drawing without needing to erase. 15. Learn how to make custom brushes to step up your game. 16. No short strokes. Long, confident ones. 17. Draw over your lineart again if you need to, to get a cleaner result. 18. Learn how to use line weight to separate important and non-important details. 19. Don't over-render while inking. The brain knows how to fill the missing gaps. 20. Always use the rule of thirds when designing ANYTHING. 21. Draw fanart to come up with ideas for original drawings. 22. Always carry a cheap sketchbook with you. 23. Learn how to render different materials. 24. You don't need to overcomplicate the preparation step of your drawing. Just start and add to it as you like. 25. Learn how to draw idle poses before learning how to do dynamic poses. 26. Get good at drawing the most common hand poses instead of complicated, rare ones. 27. Don't dress up your character until you are sure you have drawn the proportions correctly. 28. Perspective is simpler than you think. You need it. 29. When learning anatomy, focus on the big muscles and their names. 30. Most of our anatomy is similar to animals'. If you get good at drawing characters, drawing animals won't be hard. 31. Have an art goal. Break it into small, manageable chunks. 32. Find a balance between study and fun. Fun should be the priority, though. 33. Study with a purpose. Otherwise you'll get distracted. 34. If possible, draw in an environment that makes you feel good. 35. Do not associate negative feelings with your art. Stop when you are happy, not frustrated. 36. You'll learn faster if you pretend you'll have to teach your skills to a student. 37. Observe, don't see. 38. Don't just practice more. Practice WELL. 39. Copying artists is OK for learning. 40. Don't worry about style. It will arrive on its own. 41. Ask for feedback. 42. Share your art. Don't self-isolate. 43. Don't compare yourself to more skillful artists. Compare yourself to your past drawings. 44. Art degrees are not necessary. A very small percentage of pro artists have them. 45. Instead, look for high quality online help. A lot of it is cheap or free. 46. If you feel you're not improving, the problem is your method, not your brain. 47. Practice your fundamentals if you feel you're stuck. 48. Good sleep is necessary for new information to stick. 49. Keep your body healthy. Exercise. 50. Hold your pen properly. Relax your grip. 51. Get a good chair if you value your back. 52. Take lots of breaks. Stand up often. 53. Rest your eyes from the screen often. 54. Practice every day, even if it's just using your eyes to break down an object in front of you. 55. Work in your comfort zone for the most part. Small, manageable challenges will motivate you, though. 56. Bad practice exists. Don't draw from imagination only. 57. Don't overprotect your art. It's okay to discard drawings you don't like. Likewise, don't get too attached to your good drawings. 58. Geting distracted with social media and videogames will hurt your progress. 59. Participate in social art challenges to push yourself. 60. Before turning art into your career, you have to learn to love the process.

Huge, huge HUGE help with all of this, -especially- the 31 and onward, are exactly the sort of questions I've pondered about for a good while now. Thank you very much. More people need to learn and hear all of this. ❤
thanks for all the tips! honestly most of my art fundamentals knowledge came from watching your tutorial videos ^^ i'm really thankful that your channel existed 😊
私は英語が分かりませんが、とてもシンプルな内容と映像とyoutubeの自動翻訳で、ART TIPSをこれまでのどんな教材よりも理解できました。本当にありがとう。 I don't understand English, but the very sophisticated and simple content, the video and the youtube auto-translation helped me understand ART TIPS better than any previous material. Thank you so much.
Great video man, I appreciate the tips! Just hearing a lot of these gave me encouragement to keep going forward.
A lot of knowledge to condense into such a small video, thanks for uploading this!
I was finally able to join your class and become one of your students! I'm so happy right now 😊 I'm looking forward to learn more from you and from the community!
Really life-changing tips. Thank you sir
A must watch for any aspiring artist!!!
Thank you. I’m trying not to give up. I graduated in art but got married and now I’m a stay at home mom trying to get back into art and to say it’s hard is an understatement. I really wanted to work for Blizz or make my own webtoons. It’s so hard when you’ve got little kids climbing over you or asking for stuff when you find 5 minutes to sketch. I’d love to take your course sometime. I imagine it’s incredibly inspiring!
Super helpful thank you 😊
Thanks for your art tips Marc :D

I'm going into the 3rd year of animation and my friend who graduated last year was obsessed with how important your course was and he kept telling me tips he got from you, especially the "study with the goal of teaching". Another great video, Marc. THE greatest teacher and the best short form content on the web for art. I've had your program since I started drawing two years ago and it's helped immensely. I'm wondering if we will get a short form video on design hooks anytime soon? Possibly with a beautiful lady for the algorithm :P
Wow that's really 60 important things, thank u Marc 🙏🏼
I wanna say I already knew most of these tips, but it truly does help coming from someone that's been apart of the industry longer than me. I'm 18 and I just started q college course for drawing so I can advance into graphic arts... And tbh. I do enjoy it, I enjoy going out and drawing something from reference and despite it being such a known thing the community you never really get to appreciate it.
YAY NEW VIDEO 😤🎉
Thx Marc
Sometimes it's good to remind yourself of the basics of art, especially when you're someone like myself who tends to overcomplicate their process. Thanks for the vid, it's much appreciated!
Great vdeo and tips, thx!!
Thank you.
helped me improve a lot thx
"Get better sleep, or remain a dummy." I was making so much progress too. (not really)... But I should give up now because of my sleep disorder that we can't seem to get a handle on. lol That being said, I took time away from the 30 day challenge and will start it over. I took time away to focus on beginner's fundamentals. Learning to control my pen on the pen tablet, learning to make a line go where I want. Learning to make more circular circles at the sizes I want. Trying basic ovals and elipses. So, maybe, when I can finally draw a line straight down the pad without squiggles and curves, especially at the end, I'll restart the challenge. First things first.
I've paid the class fee before it's even begun- I know this will be worth way more than a like!
So many useful tips, thank you! I'm glad you also included quality sleep and exercise here, many people indeed overlook it 😞
i'm gonna try to watch this video every day

Guess it's time for me to express my absolute, sincere gratitude to you, Mr. Brunet, for all your wonderful art videos. This may sound blown out of proportion, that's understandable... To put in perspective: I've been in a serious struggle with my art, such as that I was beginning to consider just giving up. There are a lot of factors, but drawing was always a part of me; cannot imagine having that taken away from me. I don't draw digitally, though that may change someday. However, I find that many of your art tips apply just as much to traditional methods. But the tip that helped me the most, in a big way... is the one about stopping drawing while in a good state of mind. Before, drawing was staring to feel like a chore (just thinking about it makes me shudder). After applying that rip? Now I want to draw, and start posting. Not for likes, I don't expect to be in a level high enough to be considered good. No, just to show, is all. Character creation is my biggest preference, and I'm trying my hand at creating a story with them. This became a long comment, so to reiterate: thank you. Thank you very, very much, Marc Brunet 👍
