60 Laser Cutter Projects With Complete How To Tutorials

This is a fast overview of my 60 laser cutter projects, each having at least one, sometimes several video tutorials explaining how to design, cut and assemble them. I've sorted the projects into groups, with each group having its own playlist. I've arranged the groups in order of complexity, going from simple to complex. Just a hint: my very favorite project is at the end of the video!
If you see a project you like, just jot down the playlist and find the project!

Joshua, I'm so glad you found me! I'm happy to answer any questions you might have on these project videos. My whole goal is to help people move beyond cutting other people's files to modifying and designing your own. It is so much fun to have an idea and make it come to life!

Hi May! I’m so happy I bumped into your channel! I’ve a small 3D printer business, that evolved to leather working and thanks to you is super likely to get into laser cutting! You’re the best! Literally the best! Great artist! Much love and a big hug! Daniel

Daniel, welcome! Such a nice comment!! I started 3D printing during the pandemic, and still use it, but I have to admit laser cutting is my favorite. I bought my own laser cutter, finally, and now that it's in my workshop (instead of a local makerspace) I use it constantly. There are things only a 3D printer can do, but laser cutting is much easier to design for, and I do all of my own designs. Well, except recently, when I've been working with AI for that. Dalle 3 is becoming my favorite design tool, though I still need Illustrator for the final steps. What kind of things do you like to make?

@@GreylightMay So nice to see your reply :) In resin printing I'm doing mostly miniatures for D&D and wargames, because let's face it - PLA it's a much better medium than resin for functional projects. I have 2 resin printers which are very dirty because they constantly print :). For PLA I generally use Autocad/Focus 360 to make desings as I find it simpler than Blender when you dont need to sculpt. My latest in FDM has been a series of PLA Dice molds for making molds for making resin dice :) - they're fun and simple to do. I've a bambu P1S that is just wonderful! for this. I've also adapted a design and printed a lapidary machine for sanding resin dice. Besides this I'm also working with leather so I make PLA templates for leather cutting which are simple to make - think dice trays, bags, suede linings for boxes, etc. As of my last comment I may or may not have bought an Xtool S1 yesterday, I literally just fell in love with it and the capabilities for it - I'm printing some bits and pieces for setting up the ventilation (3 inch to 4 inch vent adapters, etc)- and also I'm preparing/learning how to use Adobe ilustrator and combining it with what I know from photoshop and other online vector generators like boxes.py I need to check that Dall-e! I had an idea of inlaying PLA and Acrylic as I thought that both mediums would be great for LEDs! But I guess I was too quick on the buy button that I did not realize that you cannot cut transparent acrylic with a diode laser 😅... so... yea... I guess next will be a CO2 cutter... my wallet needs to recover first though. One thing i wanted to mention is that I also love exploring design options with prototyping... my design process generally starts with cutting paper before going to the software... I saw from your videos that you have that really good engineering approach to designs that just works!

So many fun things you are making! I've done lots of dice towers, but one of my next videos will be a dice tray with sides that snap together. That is a combo of fabric and laser cut rigid panels. I've been asked to review diode lasers but I only wanted an enclosed one so the fumes could be exhausted, so those requests always fell through. I just had another request from a company called WeCreat that provides an enclosure and exhaust system, so I finally may get to test one! I didn't realize they couldn't cut clear acrylic. Disappointing because that's the type of acrylic I cut most often. I'm working on an edgelit acrylic project right now.

Yes Dalle IS amazing! I'm using Dalle 3 through ChatGPT Plus, and it is great fun, but it has a few blindspots. Checkout my recent Christmas ornament video and my attempt to get 8 reindeer pulling a sleigh! I've run into similar issues since with other things, and when it is bad it is almost laughably bad, but this is more than made up for with the good things it does!
