    I still remember being in school in the early and mid-2010s talking about, "If Lebron averaged 25 points per game for X amount of years, he could be the all-time leadijg scorer" I remember my dad saying it was impossible and that he would slow down sooner rather than later. It really is unbelievable that Lebron is still playing at all, let alone at this level. Chris Paul is around the same age, with 2 fewer seasons of mileage and is a solid bench PG. People are still arguing Lebron as a top 5 player

    Which is why it's so ridiculous that people chose to act as if him breaking Kareem's record first, and getting to 40k point later was a foregone conclusion that was always expected. I'm old enough to remember when people said that he was bound to significantly slow down and just go to LA to retire. Well, he did slow down... but it has taken him 6 years, it by no means "significantly" yet and he has still averaged 27-8-8 on .511/.355/.718 as a Laker.

    Assuming he continues to have this arrangement with a bunch of secondary ball-handlers, he’ll probably play around 50-60 games per season for at least 3 more seasons. Assuming he averaged 55 per season for 3 seasons averaging 22 per game, he’d be close to 44K. Assuming Bronny takes multiple college / pro years or he waits for Bryce, I’d say he’s almost certainly going to pass 45K. Assuming he maintains his current production (which seems possible given teammate injuries and his improved shooting), he’ll likely be over 46K. Given that I haven’t included the rest of this season, I’ll assume he ends up; somewhere between 47 and 48K. Doing the same thing for assists lands him at around 13500, and for rebounds he’d land at around 13K, making him top-20 all time. He’ll likely be around top 50 in blocks and 2nd or 3rd in steals. These all feel like ridiculous assumptions, but I had to stretch because he’s broken our expectations so many times.

  • @MistahUnknown

    @MistahUnknown

    4 ай бұрын

    That was a great read! These are indeed ridiculous assumptions as he's no longer in his 30's. I disagree with you stretching the expectations at the age he's at. What I would personally do to make it "tough" for LeBron [and no, I'm not a hater as I've been a LeBron apologist in GOAT debates and have him as the current GOAT] ... is make 1 of those 3 seasons into a lockout season where the season gets shortened by at least 15 games while he also has to worry about potential injuries and resting on back-to-back games... making it into a borderline 50 game season for LeBron.

    @@EllinasParamythas The reason that isn't done universally, not just in the NBA, is because it's a team sport. Playing for a better team or better teams means deeper playoff runs, more chances to get points, etc. Also the 7 game series format has a big impact. In the regular season, everyone has the opportunity to play a set amount of games. You can do the opposite of what you said. Look at playoff stats and add them on to regular season production if you want.

    @@EllinasParamythas It's not about custom. It's about consistency. 82 regular season games in the NBA across the board. A wide range of the amount of games any team can play in the playoffs. Same in the NHL. Bye weeks in the NFL and MLB. This causes inconsistency with total numbers, which is what you brought up specifically. Not per game averages. Even if you didn't mention total numbets specifically, it would still be a running stat line. Which is why every major sports league sees more logic in seperating playoff numbers and regular season numbers. You can add them on your own if you would like. Sometimes sports media will do side by sides, both seperating and adding playoff numbers and regular season numbers.

Lance Armstrongs steroid use is more comparable to something that LeBron would hypothetically use (not saying he did) instead of Tren like a Cbum would. @grantfischer6040 Possessions were 92 in 1999. They are currently at 100. That's quite a difference and it reflects everywhere, from the score which is way higher, to the total stats and really everything else. There's nothing to argue here. There are simply more possessions. It's a fact.

    If the average FG/FT attempts per game doesn't go up then those extra possesions don't impact shooting much. Have no real bearing on efficiency. The only thing it might add is a half extra assist or rebound. Maybe .1 or .05 block or steal. Not completely meaningless but really not impactful enough to say dude fell off.

    Not true. His 25 per game in 2024 IS better than his 25+ per game in his average year. His per/36 minutes this year (26.1 ppg/36min) shows this year is his 11th best ppg/36 min ever - or exactly right in the middle of all his 21 years. And better than both seasons that partially included 2004. btw, traditionally, the year listed is the year of the last 60% and ending of the season; so his 2004 season was his rookie year; his 2005 season started in late 2004.

    I think the totals are just a little overrated any basket her scores now increases his total if he only average 3 pts for the next 4/years it stills adds up but it wouldn’t be any context behind it.

    If Bron is on PEDs don't you think every other NBA player would too? They're all millionaires, they can easily afford good cycles. The league wouldn't just give exceptions to Bron and nobody else. And in the event they're all on PEDs then it's an even game.
