The "joke" thing is so true :D (I'm German) I've been in the Netherlands 2 weeks ago, in a Hostel, with a few friends. Because i know that 2 of them are snoring i went to the reception to ask for 2 packs of ear plugs, for me and 1 of my friends. The guy there responded with "2 packs? For your nose too?" First i didn't realize that it was a joke, so i could just laugh awkwardly after i saw his grin :D If you are in Germany, this almost never happens, and if so, the person behind the counter probably doesn't like you (if you interpret it in a mean way) :D

The towel thing is so true and so ridiculous, I just remove the towel and take the chair in those cases... The chair are for everybody!

Mathias is the best, is really enthuziastic and always smiling like enjoying the moment. He so chill and easy going... hope keep seeing him in videos.

You guys forgot digging holes. They dig holes like a bunch of Mad Maulwurfe, untill the beach looks like Dutch Cheese. And then they sit in it and yell; 'This is my hole! My hole! Don't come too close, don't damage it!' I've actually heard parents giving their kids instructions on how to dig a hole, how far away from the sea it should be, how big, how deep, what shovel to use, how to dig a proper stairs. I mean, we're trying to stop associating them with bunkers and leaving large holes in our country, but that's impossible this way xD

Die Sache mit den Handtüchern kann man ganz leicht lösen. Man geht einfach morgens an allen Liegestühlen mit Handtüchern vorbei, sammelt alle Handtücher ein und gibt sie an der Rezeption ab mit den Worten: "Somebody must have fogotten some towels. " Bitte nicht vergessen ein Bild zu machen von den Lächeln, das man da bekommt. Klar, Freunde hat man dann keine mehr.

Ich war im Pauschalurlaub in Griechenland in einem Hotel. Dort gab es Schilder am Pool, ich glaube nur in Deutsch: "Es ist verboten, Liegestühle mit Handtüchern zu reservieren! Das Personal ist angewiesen, Handtücher auf leeren Liegen nach 60 Minuten zu entfernen." Niemand hat dort eine Liege reserviert 😅 Verbote funktionieren wirklich gut bei uns Deutschen.

Ihr seid einfach toll! Ich kann nur euch danken, wegen eueres zuverlässiges Arbeit. Ich bin ein großer fan von Easy German. Mit alles Respekt un Liebe, Timothy

Take them with a HUGE pinch of salt.

In 2019, I've traveled to Germany with my sister and mom and we stayed for 3 days on my sister's (ex) boyfriend town. His family paid literally everythin to us!! They welcomed us , showed us the whole city, took us to a fancy restaurant and made us an amazing lunch! I'll never forget their hospitality! I'm not sure if we were just lucky but they really made us feel so welcomed.... Honestly I don't think Germans are THAT bad, I've had a really good experience with most Germans that I've met :)

One of my best vacations was backpacking through Egypt for one month. Lovely people and amazing country!

I become a huge fan to Janusz when he is arguing about the WLAN 😂

Was with my african husband in his homeland. When we wanted to fly back the domestic flight was canceled. Next day then the flight to the international airport and in the last minute we reached our flight to europe. My german character was dying several deaths.

die Amerikaner sind LAUT, die Deutscher nicht. Und Ja, die Amerikaner glauben die alter Leute Englisch sprechen mussen, die Deutscher weisen die ältere Menschen weisen keine Fremdsprachen. Aber beide können nicht verstehen, dass sie nicht unter der Sonne sitzen mussen.

Als mein Sohn und ich letztes Jahr in Deutschland waren, vertrauen Sie mir, haben wir versucht, so viel Deutsch wie möglich zu sprechen. Aber wir lernen und die meisten Leute dort sagten: "Wir sprechen auch Englisch". Aber wir wollten kein Englisch! Lol. Wir sind Amerikaner.... und einige Amerikaner können sehr egozentrisch sein und erwarten, dass jeder Englisch spricht. Not all Americans are aholes. LOL! When I go back to Germany next year, my German speaking skills will be much better!

Eigentlich finde ich die Deutschen sehr gastfreundlich. Ich habe einen Schüleraustausch mit einer Schule in Norddeutschland organisiert und die Gastfamilien in Deutschland waren super freundlich und sehr hilfsbereit mit unseren Schülern und Schülerinnen. Wir kommen aus Australien. Auch habe ich persönlich drei Wochen in Düsseldorf gewohnt und musste jeden Tag mit dem Bus und mit dem Zug fahren. Jeden Morgen als ich zur Bushaltestelle ging, haben die Menschen mich immer begrüsst und oft haben die Menschen mit mir im Bus gesprochen. Deswegen muss ich sagen, dass ich nicht mit euch einig bin. Die Deutschen sind zwar sehr direkt aber sind auch sehr gastfreundlich. Ich kenne sehr nette Deutschen. Übrigens finde ich deine Videos toll. Danke für all eure Arbeit mit den Videos. Es ist super, dass ihr so viel umsonst produziert. Ich wünsche euch viel Erfolg.

Habe in Deutschland einige Male Deutsch studiert... In Hamburg gab mir meine Hauswirtin eine Tueue mit alten Klamotten als Geschaenk (zum Glueck gab es eine Mulltonne nicht weit) und aus Leipzig kehrte ich wie eine Enkelin aus Grosselternshaus zurueck . These are so true I was recently in Bulgaria and met many German people however I met a couple that would make small talk and I didn't know how to respond to it as I'm not used to it it's very strange when someone's randomly asking you how you are but a lot of these points are true especially the complaining part!!!

Funny enough, I as a native speaker found most Easy German videos very slow, but of course I was aware that this should help people in understanding or to read the subtitles. So, untill I started reading the comments, I didn't even realise they spoke in regular speed. :D But I feel you. When I watch other Easy Language videos I struggle to understand them or at least read the subtitles fast enough, when people talk to fast. :D

Your video's are so incredibly helpful and funny as well! I never understood why I am the way that I am, and have always been criticized for being impatient, always complaining, being a perfectionist, and now I find out, its not a bad thing its a German thing! Hallo, ich habe euren Kanal gerade über ein Video mit Dana (Wanted Adventure) entdeckt. Sehr gut gemacht und so treffend. Die gezeigten Beispiele treffen, meiner Meinung nach, bei Pauschalurlaubernstärker auf als bei anderen. Etwa nach dem Motto: "Ich habe das bezahlt, also muss auch alles perfekt sein". Ich bin jedes Jahr einige Monate in Kenia und mit der Zeit gewöhnt man sich daran, daß vieles nicht so reibungslos klappt wie wir das in Deutschland gewohnt sind. Man lernt zu improvisieren und wenn man das erstmal kapiert hat, dann nimmt man diese kleinen Unebenheiten fast nicht mehr wahr. Zum Beispiel Stromausfall. In Deutschland so gut wie unbekannt, in Kenia gehört das zum täglichen Leben. Dann wartet man halt eine oder mehrere Stunden bis die Dusche wieder heißes Wasser von sich gibt oder duscht halt kalt. Habe euren Channel jetzt abonniert und freue mich auf viele weitere Folgen :-)

The last point you made is not what we encountered at all. We escorted some German visitors around for a few days. It was no big deal. But when they returned home, they sent us a fortune in gifts. I was a bit embarrassed that they sent us so much stuff, after just driving around to a few of our local attractions.

I work in tourist industry in New York City. Germans almost always speak English to me, and of course they all speak English to some degree at least. The only people who have repeatedly walked up to me and spoke their own language are French. I always think - what are you thinking? Maybe one in 50 Americans took French in school and fewer could still understand it! We are lucky of course that English has turned into the international language, but I think the French sometimes have the impression that it's still French.

Haha 😃Great to hear that Germans aren't the only ones. There is many different types of Germans of course. There is those ones who are excited to make a trip to the US and organise everything themselves... they would obviously speak English. But there is also a big number of people who don't wanna organise anything themselves. They book travels as complete packages with flights, transfers, hotels etc and expect everything to be done for them. Those are the ones who wouldn't even make an effort to imagine people spoke a different language than German. We lately met these kind of Germans again on our flight from Singapore to Berlin and I was honestly shocked. I knew these kind of Germans would book club holidays in Egypt, Tunisia, Turkey or Spain (where they have lots of all inclusive offers and many poeple working in service who would speak German) - But what were they doing in Singapore without speaking a word of English? Seriously, there was a lady next to us on the plane who couldnt understand a word of what the stewardess said and simply replied in German to her 🙈I always feel so ashamed for these kind of Germans 🙈

@@DarthAndredu Hallo un herzlichen willkommen. Sie sollen nur am besten "Sinai" vermeiden.. Die Situation da ist sehr kompliziert zur Zeit. Kairo, Alex, Luxor, Aswan und entlang dem Rotsee (wie Hurghada, marsa Alam..) sind schon abgesichert und fantastisch.

Diese Episode war super geil. Es hat mir gut gefallen. vor allem, wenn du zugibst Cari, dass die Deutschen ohne Humor und bisschen zurückhaltend sind.

One thing I must disagree with is that Germans only speak German wherever they are. In my experience in Australia and while travelling in Germany is that most Germans I have met speak better English than the average Australian! Thanks for the shows, I’m still struggling with the German language, but getting better every day!

Nice video! :-) though, about punctuality... I can't stand it when you want to meet at a time and the other(s) don't come... it's just frustrating D: Especially since I'm there like 15-5min early, so I'm not too late... Or when I was in Malta, the Taxi was supposed to arrive 3 hours before our flight took off (still had to check in) and it didn't come.... and didn't come... and didn't come... ...we called another Taxi after a while :-/

Boy, I hope this covers the obsessive hole-digging on the beach by Germans.

I am very disappointed.

Germans might have no patience for small talk, lame humour and gifts to strangers, but what they do give is respect of other people's time, correctness and honesty. And that is very precious.

WooooooooW ... diese Episode ist die Liebste zu mir ! weil ich Ägypter bin :D Ich bin ein große Fan von Easy German und Cari (aber ich schreibe nicht zu oft im Kommentar ). Es gefallt mir sehr was ihr da macht ... weiter so. Diese Episode hat mich echt getroffen und gefallen ( ich habe sogar ein meine Ägyptisch Freunde, der in Valeo war, gesehen ... ) :D Ich habe auch geträumt dass ihr irgendwann über Ägypten und unsere Traditionen spricht (vielleicht andere mal über die Ägyptisch essen, und ich kann dabei sein und helfen ;) :P ). war dieses Episode in elgouna oder Hurgada ? in Bezug auf was die Deutscher in Urlaub machen würden ... Um ehrlich zu sein, ich habe die Deutsche nie im Urlaub gesehen aber doch in Deutschland Und alles was Ihr gesagt habt ... stimmt 100 % :D Aber wenn man die Deutscher Kultur versteht, wird nicht davon beleidigt , sonst mögen oder sogar mitmachen (ich glaube, dass Ich mich in einen Deutscher verwandle ) (Entschuldigung für mein Katastrophe Deutsch ... ich hoffe , dass es mindesten verständlich ist, aber ich musste was schrieben nach was ich in diese Episode gesehen habe )

Ich mit meine High-School-Chöre ist anno eine Woche in Dortmund gewesen. Wir waren in den deutschen Familien untergebracht. Ich habe viele Geschenk bekommen, wann wir wieder zu Hause abgereist haben.

Dutch also tend to do that. It's a bit embarrassing...

I know it not related with the video, but I want to share : Weird things some Indonesians do when flooded : 1. Swim in the flood 2. Cars can be a submarine :v 3. You can surfing (not by a wave, but you will be pulled by a motorcycle or car) 4. Fishing on the front yard (if your house got flooded and there are fishes in the water) 5. Flood = free water park 😂 It just some examples what we do when flood happend. What I have done when flooded are swimming and make the flood as a water park 🤣👌🏼Ah... My childhood memories :')

Als ich Kind war, meine Oma hat meine Familie gebracht nach Salzburg in Österreich. Sie lebte da, als sie Kind war. Ich hatte nur 7 Jahre, aber ich erinnere mich eine Frau, dass in die Restaurant von unser Hotel gearbeitet hatte. Sie war die netteste Person, und sie hatte mit uns sehr freundlich umgehen. Aber weil ich Kind war, ich kann nicht mehr Leute erinnere! ;) (Still a beginner here, please excuse typos/grammar!)

Das mit der Gastfreundschaft und den Geschenken kann ich so jetzt nicht unterschreiben aber der Rest stimmt schon irgendwie.

What's interesting is how using a similar expression, "snowflake," in English would be roundly condemned as insensitive.

@@mtrmann Yes, Germany is not yet as infiltrated with the totally out of bounds PC culture as the US. But there are forces who try to steer it in the wrong direction. For now it's luckily just a small minority.

@@mtrmann That's because "snowflake" and "Mimosen" don't have the same connotations. I've never seen a German person use "Mimosen" in the hostile way snowflake is used in English. You can also see it in the vid. They use it in a funny way while they're joking as friends. Very different than "Shut up, snowflake!"

I'm planning to use it referring to myself (as in "Ich, die Mimose!") next time me and my German fiancé are in a situation where he has no complaints whatsoever and I'm complaining about every small detail. I think he will laugh xD

Ja. Leider hab'ich es persoenlich gemerkt.Mein Freund ist Deutsch und er war leider genau so ,aber da ich Italienerin bin,hab'ich ihn ,mit der Zeit (viel Zeit) anders daran gewoehnt.

Booking sunbeds with towels. It's true. And what I discovered is the best thing to do is to come back from a night out at 7am and MOVE the towels out of the way and fall asleep. When the Germans come back and start complaining I tell them to call the police. Obviously, they won't and they go away and leave me alone. Nobody can beat Germans for getting up early on holidays but nobody can beat the Irish when they want to be stubborn.... oops. I can't believe I shared this.

Hehehehe. Thumbs up! That's why I love the mixed up of German and Irish. Worked with a British firm in Dubai and that's the scene I endured for the past 8 years. Too funny when all these Nationals (France,Irish.Scotish, German) exchanging critics at the workplace.

Very entertaining and TRUE! I moved from America to Germany last year. I am still trying to getting used to my loss of personal space and politeness from strangers. If you need an American....I have a few things to say! lol Great video :)

4:54 -> Wir Mimosen! Das ist das erstes Mal, dass ich diesen Ausdruck sehe. Auf Spanisch sag man: "Somos mimados". Ich wusste nicht, dass so etwas auch auf Deutsch gibt :-)

Wo ich wohnung niemand sprechen deutsche, also viele höre ich für üben an. Ich lerne Musik mit dem Ohr, und ich bin versuchen lernen die deutsche sprache mit dem Ohr. Vielen dank für dein Video. Ich lerne mit Bucher und "Rosetta Stone" auch. Es tut mir leid meine deutsche, aber es schon seit drei Monaten lerne ich.
