Tip from a former Dollar Tree employee... IF you order them (a whole case) and have them sent to the store nearest you, you won't pay shipping and handling.

Always line the bottom of your pots with coffee filters. Hold the dirt and takes a long time to break down.

What you're actually smelling is a compound called geosmin and it is produced from streptomycles bacteria. I believe it's microbiology deficiency and us gardeners we have supplemented our microbiome so much that we know when we smell something that we need more of in the world.

There is a Mycobacterium in soil that actually causes the release of serotonin and may be the cause of "gardeners high"
I saw LifewithLindthom use these. She drilled a hole in the middle and ran them thru a green plant stake that was anchored in the ground. That kept it from toppling over as you worked in it or on windy day. Hope that helps. Always enjoy your smiling face, optimistic attitude, and free spirit. 👩🌾🥕🥦🥒🌽🍅

I got some from the dollar store too! I’m doing 100 strawberry plants in towers cause we can’t afford greenstalks. (Yet- should God steward out finances that way) Many blessings & great video. ❤️🌱🍓😊🙏🏻
One hack for watering is to drill holes in a piece of PVC, for drip watering. Drill holes in each layer to put the PVC pipe through. The PVC also helps stabilize the stack. Still, put plants that require less water at the top, and those that can handle more on the bottom.

As I read the comment's, it's so beautiful to people wanting to buy these planters so they can give to others. Blessings.
I have 8!! These are going to be my herb gardens! 4 and 4! Any higher they will be unstable... these will last 2 or 3 seasons for the avg season...cheap lazy Susan from dollar tree too! Would be 2 round pizza pans with marbles in between the 2 pans! Works as a ball bearings!

I got these last year for my herbs. I had them on my deck in the sun and they dried out so fast. I was watering twice a day and on really hot days they still dried out. I had one of flowers in morning sun and that one only had to be watered once a day

Order on line from dollar tree and have it delivered to your store.
I have these and you may want to keep in mind that the plastic is extremely flimsy so I wouldn't stack them as high as you are showing, they WILL fall apart...They are great for the price, tho.

Or somehow make a plywood base to attach to each layer 😁
I would leave the bottom on over the water drain holes, excess water will end up running off around it and that little bit of a lip will hold some water to keep them from drying out as quick when it is really hot outside. I just ordered a case of them to be delivered, shipping wasn’t awful at all $8. I think they will be great for herbs, lettuce etc. I think if people are gentle with them they will last and work perfectly well. I have seen them talked about for a while, but no one shared a really good pic to see size. I didn’t even think to look online for size until today, they are 14X14X5. So glad you got some and showed them. Thanks.
I got mine last year and planted strawberries in them and they did really well. I love them. I may have to go get more.
That is absolutely awesome 👏 3 pots that are stackable. Great place for herbs. Strawberries 🍓 would be perfect for those pots!
I made 2 stacks (9 total) and planted strawberries in them. My husband drilled a hole through the middle and put a metal post in the ground to secure them. I most certainly would love the better planter but as you said I'm starting right where I'm at. :-) I love your channel and appreciate you.
Strawberries would be awesome in those containers
That blue bag of container soil is not great. Fox Farm Ocean Forest is THE BEST. It's more expensive but triples your harvest so worth every penny and makes your plants/veggies look AMAZING!!!
I like that you have power and motivation to continue your channel even through this pandemic 👍 appreciate it
Excellent
Thanks for this- I have one of these and often feel the guilt that I didn't get the good one. Also, thanks so much for showing that you can pop the bottoms off. Always love your channel- you give off good vibes

I stacked mine 9 high, cut holes through the center and put an in-ground pole through the center. Cut 3" sections of pool noodles to slide on the pole between each pot to stabilize the structure and conserve soil. Works much better. Don't blow or get knocked over.

I got a set of three for both of my kiddos and 2 for myself! I'm so excited! Thanks for the tip!
I still use red solo cups for transplanting
I bought 2 of these last year. I have them sitting on a set of shelves in my container garden. To make watering them easier, I put an empty nursery pot in the center & soil in the 3 compartments. Once stacked, there is just enough space to fill up the nursery pot with water (either with a watering can, or spraying the side of the container above & letting it waterfall into the pot below) & let it water them from the bottom up. In case anyone is wondering, the soil absorbed the water just fine this way. I'm hoping to get more this year, but these sell really quickly in my area. I almost didn't get ahold of the 2 that I have.
