A big ick that I have as a guy that I would imagine girls would also find true is not being empathetic. I really think empathy needs to make a big come back. I do think though that generally the language around icks though (not necessary for you but for others) is totally lacking empathy or is assuming something that isn’t necessarily true. Like a guy having a bunch of alarms to wake up could totally be poor discipline and showing a lack of motivation to get up or could be a heavy sleeper and by setting all them it ensures he doesn’t miss any therefore showing discipline in forward thinking and knowledge of self. In other words, can’t judge a book by the cover nor the first chapter.

Very good point, thank you! We definitely need to see us humans all as multi-layered and not judge by one single action (like the alarms). Empathy and the golden rule of 'treat others how you'd want to be treated' is always a humbling reminder.

Modesty is indeed tricky. As a wise man once said: "Subject matter can be learned and copied from books, manuals, and articles, but style is unavoidably what makes the man". Personally, I take it as one of those subjects that should seldom if ever be discussed out loud with potential partners; posture, clothing, and language ought to be enough to assess where (s)he stands on the matter. Then, once a romantic relationship blooms, it could be rather fun to find out together what manner of modesty best compliments/complements each other.

alot of men have become needy due to the inbalance of the dating market where women go after the top tier guys and typically top tier guys are not as you said "icky" but the bottom feeder are typically because of the lack of women in their department as opposed to the top feeders who get girls all the time thus more confidence better talkers or even better gaslighters due to practice. this is due to social changes such as me 2 or feminism or womans march and women being independeent women in their 20s are typically living a hot girl summer tons of guys giving attention then in their 30s it less attention and greater risk of mental illness women have ton of option than men do at first but later on the depression can kick in due to lack of what they have in 20s but men in 30s tend to have their crap together and battle the reality of being rejected in the 20s and become more stable.

Don't be too smooth? Lol If he's actually being smooth, you wouldn't notice. "I'd read anything you wrote" is a painful choice of words. I think you mean "Don't come off sounding rehearsed"? And the alarm clock thing? I was going to say the ability to get up on the first bell and how hard you work aren't correlated (and I still think that isn't true all the time) but, the more I think about it, the more I think you might be on to something :) You might not always be right, but if a guy can't get out of bed on time, how are you going to depend on him for other, more serious, things? Anyway, I appreciate the open dialog. Always interesting to hear a woman's perspective

Thanks for your perspective, Jesse! Ha, yes, I more meant "don't come across disingenuous or contrived" and I absolutely agree that not everything is correlated - I'm just sharing a few things that made me think "hmm..." at the time when I heard them, assuming that other women may feel the same. 100% to open dialogue - and also to knowing that none of us fit in a box and personal experiences aren't necessarily rules!

I mostly agree with this sentiment. Probably my biggest mistake was listening to what women say and not what they do, but... a fish knows where the other fish are, can tell you about their routines and their habits, and give some insight on what they find tastier as bait during some times of the day lol Know that women aren't great at telling you what they're attracted to, but it's still important to listen. There is good data in there. You just have to fish it out ha
