    I don't usually get sick so I don't know what id do when I get sick but I think that's because my parents didn't raise me in a sterile environment "bubble". You guys should do a video on the effect of being raised in different environments and its effect on your immune system. Well thanks for reading this if you do great video :D

  • @Zoe_K

    @Zoe_K

    9 жыл бұрын

    i was raised like that too and i'm basically never ill! but my dad was raised in a very "clean" one and he's never ill either so i'm pretty sure it's also genetics and not just environment, cuz my mum and brother are sick at least twice a year.

  • @seanr8643

    @seanr8643

    Surely it's got something to do with your current social/working environment, you could have a 'clean' upbringing that resulted in you being in a germ 'bubble' but if your out a lot socially or work in an environment with a lot of people I.e an office - sooner or later you will catch something of someone .... Unless your superman.

    Sean Raynard i'm a student so i interact with a lot of people all the time, i'm constantly opening doors, touching stair railings, so i probably come into contact with a LOT of germs, and i have very questionable hand-washing-frequencies (whoops). whereas my friend has a super clean house and uses hand sanitiser every hour, and she's ill at least every other month. i say it's just genetics and i'm just very lucky. :)

    Zinervawyrm just have more rest and eat healthy when youre sick (even if youre not sick) eating healthy can help the immune system of your body (idk thats what i heard) and while youre having a good rest a huge battle between your immune system and bacteria/virus is happening. If the immune system wins then they would pretty much kill theirselves (except for memory cells) so i dont think sweating is the cure here

    Increase in temperature is body's way of boosting immune system temporarily. Increase in temperature enables the white blood cells (cells of the immune system) in your bloodstream to move more rapidly, therefore they can reach the site attacked by the virus in shorter time.

    as a nursing student, all of this is entirely accurate! showering makes me feel the best when I'm sick, especially because nursing school is so hard it's not easy to miss one day. so a nice steamy shower makes me feel so nice. for a while I thought it was just me however, we learned in class that showers make everyone feel 10 times better when they're clean and fresh so bed baths and showers for mobile patients are extremely beneficial for the patients recovery.

    What about most people, humans, being generally lactose intolerant. I always feel inflammatory effects if i have *too much* dairy---which really is just more than once a week. I used to break out a lot on my back and face, and since reducing my dairy intake....i break out far less....and i also dont get much phlegm in my throat if i do come down with a little bit of a virus. so. i dont know about that one

    Myth - colds are a winter thing... truth? the cold virus can only survive a fairly short time outside the warmth of the host, so in warmer weather it can survive longer and therefore stands a better chance of infecting a new host, so colds are just as prevalent in the summer, if not more common. Thoughts?

    Draw a small circle anywhere on your body. The virus cells will get curious and check it out, and get trapped inside the ring. All you have to do then is to wait for the while blood cells to come eat them up. Make sure to wipe it off so the white blood cells are freed, otherwise they clump up and die, forming a cyste. (seriously, just drink lots of fluids and chill out, really isn't much else to do)

    During my last cold, I took a Vitamin C pill the first day I started getting symptoms and I've never had a cold go away faster. Only lasted about 2 days, if that. Maybe it was just a coincidence, but give it a try. Exercising also made me feel better. I don't know if it made it go away any faster, but the symptoms weren't as bad after I'd exercised.

    I rarely ever get sick, maybe once a year or so, but whenever I do contract a virus I get very sick. To the point where my head is throbbing with a thought destroying migraine, and a sore throat bad enough to ruin my appetite. I usually just go about my business as I normally would though. Making sure to wash my hands and use hand sanitizer whenever possible. I also don't take any drugs to alleviate my symptoms. I always drink a lot of tea and coffee but I cut back on my coffee intake as much as possible whenever I get sick and try to drink more green tea and eat more foods that are rich in vitamins.

    I take a bath in the hottest water that I can tolerate. I also don't take drugs (tylenol, sudafed) during the day. My rationale is that the drugs merely alleviate symptoms, but don't do anything to fight the infection, but the symptoms are the result of my body fighting the infection. I will take drugs before bed if I'm having trouble falling asleep, though. Sleep is more important.

    You guys are such dorks. That's a compliment, by the way :) I didn't know that the one about being most contagious before you show symptoms was false. I originally heard it from my mom, who is a nurse, so I assumed she knew what she was talking about. I usually rest and read/watch TV/play games and drink lots of water. If I'm throwing up, I'll drink pop so I can have some calories and electrolytes that probably won't set off my stomach, as well as eat whatever mild food I can keep down. I also limit myself to one blanket to avoid driving my fever up. With colds, I usually just go about my business as much as possible. I only take medicine if I'm miserable or my fever gets high (101 or higher), or before bed so I can sleep, so that I can just fight it off and be done with it.

    i’m sick more often than not and what i do to combat that is •eat foods with chicken broth. i’m vegetarian but chicken broth has really heathy fats and vitamins that you need when you’re sick •drink ginger ale. ginger has muscle relaxing and stomach soothing qualities. ginger ale is mostly water and sugar which are both good when you’re sick (to hydrate and add calories) •eat vanilla ice cream. the brand i buy is just cream, milk, sugar, and vanilla so there’s nothing in it thats bad for you. •the rest of what i eat/drink when i’m sick is fruit, water, and protein shakes. i really can’t stomach much else but this is basically the stuff i find helps me feel better the quickest
