many folks from Las Vegas are LA transplants who could no longer afford it in California

As someone who used to live in LA the last point hits hard. It's VERY hard to make friends there because everyone is all about money and they don't want to waste their time talking or hanging around you if there isn't anything to benefit from it. People will come over and talk to you acting all friendly sure but 99% of the time they are simply sizing you up and determining if you can add anything of value to them. LA is a place where despite its gorgeous scenery and countless things to see and do, it's easy to feel lonely.

Yeah that is true about LA. I think it’s more a symptom from a lot of people working in the industry. People have to admit that Hollywood and the entertainment industry can be very superficial. You can’t have it both ways. But if you don’t work in entertainment and hang out with non-industry people, you actually can easily avoid that.

always love the "native" LA people thinking they own CA = you don't --people move in and out of SoCA for many different reasons. Its a sprawling mess with horrible smog, traffic ( thank you oil companies for killing the early subway system ) and overpriced houses with no real city vibe or transportation. You tubers don't make people move there - jobs opportunities do or people chasing dreams of stardom.

I lived in NYC for 5 years. Loved it, but felt it was limited and expensive. Moved to LA to live near the ocean, the mountains, desert, and the forest. It's been 15 years now. brsk I cleary have. I rode my bike in the city alot when I was there. Not the best city for it. The population of homeless people there is actually over 30k. Seen over 50 when I was there.

Excellent video. As one who grew up in Los Angeles I can attest, everything you say is true. It is simply impossible to find the center of this city, and you can't find that magical place to live that will put you in reach of everything you need to do. It's simply impossible. Unless you can work from home and order everything to your doorstep, including groceries, you're gonna be on that road dealing with traffic. No fun. I had a job once where I had to leave home two hours early just to be there on time. It was only twelve miles away. And this was a minwage job...years ago! Traffic has only gotten worse, so I'm glad I can afford to work from home. But I still have to brave the traffic. Yes, we have a lot of shallow phonies here, but I live in what I call Real L.A. What I mean by that, is I deal mostly with regular people with a good head on their shoulders, not fame seekers. I have a lot of Mexican American friends and they live very normal, down to earth lives and don't pay attention to all the silliness.

Dude its something you gotta live with. I live in Melbourne Australia and we have had a massive population spike in the last 10 years. Congestion on the roads is unbelievable and the fatality rate on the state's roads at the moment is one hundred more than this time last year. Its awful and it sucks but most major cities around the world are going through this. Having said that traffic in LA is horrendous at night. I just subscribed to your channel because of this video. You rock.

In 2006, I went to LA as my first vacation abroad. as a 19 year old kid from Cape Town, South Africa, it was one of the worst experiences ever. Total culture shock. Everyone back home thought i was living the dream, but i was miserable. I went to Pasadena to visit my sister at that time. However, we went to the Bay for a few days and that felt more like home. I'm sure there are good people in LA, i just never found any genuine ones in the 6 weeks i was there.

You forgot all the beautiful girls that come to LA and get trapped in the cycle of drugs and sex for sale that eats away at their very soul.

She was a Creole African American obviously part Native American, she knew both French and Spanish. Although she is African American, she prefers White guys, Mexicans and Asian men over Blacks, a real rocker chick. If it were not for both Crystal Meth use and an obvious issue with mental health a woman that beautiful would not have the time of day for a man like myself.

@Ben Daulton What bothers me about LA is what it has become. People here, especially Hispanics act very nasty. 30 and more years ago, these were some of the most sweetest people. Now, except for a few friends, I just try to avoid these people. I usually can tell someone Filipino from Hispanic by their pleasant demeanor.

@@227erin I think she's talking about specific areas of LA because many young people unfortunately don't know that there are many parts to LA, & not everyone lives a Hollywood lifestyle. Hollywood & gangs are their only perceptions. There are so many LA's, so many different type of people & lifestyles, but unless they've been to LA & experienced something different, many young people do think that LA is all about the Hollywood lifestyle.

I’m thinking of moving to LA because I love photography and I’m here right now for a few days and took some awesome pictures at a car show (Cars and Coffee) which I have attended to before in my home town and it is not the same at all hahahah. So much better here.

I LOVE LA!!! I live in Hollywood and I wake up daily excited to be here! I think it IS alot like the shows and I have met the MOST wonderful, spiritual, talented, supportive and creative people In the world!!! I know SOOOOO many creative people who do it for the LOVE and PASSION! Your experience here (and everywhere) is based on WHO YOU ARE not WHERE YOU ARE! This video made me realize just how much I love being here. If I could live ANYWHERE in the world (and I can because Im not originally from here) I would choose exactly where I am - HOLLYWOOD! I am a proud and happy LA Native. Although, you have valid points and 100% accurate, I would never leave LA, it's home. Angelenos got used to this lifestyle, but for transplants it can be difficult. I can only imagine!

I just moved to soCal and totally experiencing the flakiness and fakeness of people. People act interested in being friends or hanging out only to ghost you or not make effort into building a connection.

For the past 25 years I have had a less that 5 minute walk to work.

I wanna move to LA to become a MOVIE STAR! I'm going to make it too! So I will take a temp job at Starbucks while waiting for my big break....which will come tomorrow...Or by the weekend for sure!!

As a person tht lives in switzerland, I can say it all seems pretty cheap in the vids where they complain about high prices The difference between here and these cities is, tht in switzerland we earn a lot, but also spend a lot So everything is in balance In la you earn less and spend similarely like in switzerland Oc its diffenrent if you live in zürich, genf (geneve) or if you live somewhere less expensive like aargau It all depends

MountainDrew their fault that they lost their homes cause poor rent control, the companies they worked for went bankrupt, etc. and then you get on a list to get help/housing but there’s a line. Say u leave to explore other options, you automatically loose your spot. It’s deeper than you think.

Lived in LA County my whole life, and I love it. Nothing quite like going to a Dodger game, seeing the city, going to Universal, walking around the Americana in Glendale, quick drive to the beach (at least to Orange County from the valley). Sure parking and rent and food are expensive (as is everything--but there are ways to get around it like taking the bus/train, living in the suburbs, cooking your own meals, etc.), homeless population is on the rise, smog and traffic are mutually inclusive. But that is typically the case in all major cities. When you can look past that, and see that the people here are just trying to survive same as you, you can really see the beauty in it (maybe not so much in the angry drivers though, lol). I'm very fortunate to have grown up here, and I think everyone should give a visit a chance at least once.

The Hollywood bowl is a cool place to go to for concert goers. Hollywood was the best place to go when they had more record stores to go to. I lived in the South Bay all my life and I have been to most of the shopping places and they’re not good because parking sucks and you have to pay for the parking most of the time.

Lived and grew up in the inner city of Los Angeles as a young boy. When I was ten, my mother moved us to the suburbs, about 20 miles from the inner city, which was still part of LA County. I'm pretty tired of California right now as I'm considering to move some place else.

That's literally one of the top reasons I left LA. I'm very sensitive to my surroundings. I have to be around something beautiful. The cement jungle, as locals call LA, is not beautiful. And seeing so many homeless people struggling is very hard to see. It eventually weighs on you.

Idk about other places. @@prod.antisocialflexerr Yes, you will see celebrities here. My little brothers are part of this swim team and at the swim meet they met Gwyneth Paltro and took a picture with her. Sometimes on certain holidays/events you can go to Pico Blvd and Fig and just go bar hopping around there at night and you'll see many celebrities/athletes. Once you know you live in the same state as most celebrities, you'll tend to not get so worked up about it. There's even an ex-celebrity superman actor that now does solar paneling for roofs. My father went to one of the most famous high schools in LA and has a yearbook from it... John Marshall High. That high school must've cranked out more than a dozen celebrities from there. I grew up in San Gabriel just east of LA and thank God the homeless haven't really crept into this city like it has to other cities. My hometown has really changed throughout the years... Everyone drives a Lexus here at the very least and now Lamborghinis, McClarens, Maseratis and Ferraris are becoming a norm.

Wow, this really opened my eyes, I used to dream of moving to LA, watching shows like Beverley Hills 90210, Knots Landing etc, here in England. But real life isn’t like that, I wanted to be the English Guy in an LA high school, like Michael in Grease 2. How Silly was I.

A lot of the shows set in LA are set in areas outside the main city area (often in or near the expensive hills neighborhoods or in OC, not LA, near the ocean) or deceptively claim to be in the main city area but rarely show what the actual area around there looks like, often an eyesore, instead focusing on the nice house the main characters live in and then jumping to random nicer looking spots around the city when they're not home. You don't see them driving in traffic for an hour to get from point A to B on ugly roads full of strip malls and gas stations.
