I can’t comprehend why one would watch a video advocating to live in Portland, while having nothing good to say about it…. I guess it’s all perspective.

I lived there for almost 4 years because of a good paying job. But the crime is ridiculous. Anything less than someone almost dying the police don’t come. Had my car broken into 4 times, one time they tried to steal it but failed. Thieves tried to break into my apartment twice while I was home. And not to mention the racist people I had to deal with on almost a daily basis.

Thanks for these videos! My family and I are relocating from North Texas Prosper area to Portland Metro Beaverton to be exact! I'm original from West Hollywood Cali and after 5 years in Texas we all had enough.. That said, we visited Oregon this past January and it was amazing I love the diversity, great pedestrian infrastructure and many cool unique things about Portland.

@@TonyMarselle Depending on ones perception of the burbs because the burbs will vary from place to place. We lived in the sticks of North Texas practically and Beaverton is crazy close to everything. For me personally, I lived on the upper west side Manhattan New York City for 9 years and I lived in Los Angeles West Hollywood so yeah Beaverton is not even close to that kind of culture and life style although, I think for us at this point of our lives getting back to the west coast vibe and for the kids and being able to be around some like minded people and culture matters the most.

I have a weird question about the perks of Washington income tax… is that a real thing? Could you live in Vancouver but work for a Portland business and still have your income tax? Or is it that you can life in Portland and work in Washington for no income tax? Or would you have to both live and work in Washington? My friends and I were talking about moving to Oregon vs Washington and that was a huge thing we were stumped on

I cannot give tax advice, but my understanding & what I've seen with clients that relocate is that you have to either 1) live & work in WA 2) live in WA & work remotely or 3) live in WA & have a hybrid position where you only pay tax for the days you work in OR but the days you work remote in WA don't incur state income taxes. Please contact me if you have more questions at 360.818.4438 and consult your tax professional or I can recommend some for you :)
