    great in detail video! i love that you also think about folx with mobility issues. i also loved that you filmed plenty of yourself being in the tent, i find that very helpful to get a feeling about hte actual size of the tent. thank you very much for the insightful video! although i have to say: the best moment was definitly when Buster came into the little side window. he is precious! and you interacting with him made you soooo likeable! i deeply respect a man who is kind and loving with his doggo.

    Aww thank you for you're kind comments. The flap at the front I mentioned as my parents have used this tent. My mum had a knee operation and can trip up easily. I bought this tent with the idea that the whole family could use it. Hence why I put that part in. Plus it's a nice feature when you want to extend the camping furniture out of the tent on a nice day. As for Buster....Yeah he's my boy and I love him loads. I used to be petrified of dogs some eight years ago. But cannot imagine life without him now. I never had children of my own and I kind of think of him as the son I never had. His walks are his time and he is never rushed when he wants to sniff around on his walks. It's his time, not mine. He does get spoilt rotten...and rightly so. But he pays it back time and time again. Yesterday I sneezed in the garden and he came running down from upstairs to see if I was all right. Putting his front legs over my shoulders as if to hug me when I knelt down That's a wonderful feeling. As for the tent. Mine is the 2020 version. They have since improved on it in a couple of areas by all accounts. The new beige and white Fresh and Black version. It's a very good tent. Not perfect. But then what tent is? Thank you for your kind message and I will give Buster a hug for you haha. Have a wonderful day

    This video has come at the perfect time, we’ve not been camping for years, then it was on a night here and there but stopped due to my health. Since these inflatable tents came along I’ve always thought “ what if “? Now, due to the price increases of hotels, both here and abroad, then my Medical Travel Insurance being the price of an holiday it’s got us looking at these in much more detail. We walked into our local Decathlon yesterday and this tent was on display, not only that, I’ve just gone on their website and pressed the tents button, only for this one to be looking straight back at me. Also, they had a bed and mattress set up which was nearly the height of a normal bed which is near perfect so as I can get up or into bed and that has made our mind up.

    I was the same Brian. I could stay in a tent at a location for several nights for the price of one night in a hotel. A no brainer when it's somewhere like the Lakes for example. Quechua's 4 person inflatable tent is easy to set up even on your own and not like the traditional pole design. Where you need someone to thread the poles in and someone underneath to support the tent as it rises. The beds too now are of much better design and Quechua over the last few years have been very innovative. Thanks for your lovely message.

    Aww Thank you Gemma. I'm glad to be of any help. But no there is no such thing as the perfect tent. I know a few people that love a certain Vango tent which I find claustrophobic. I use it very rarely. Plus I feel that not only is the tent you buy or use a personal choice for your needs. But also for the type of camping your doing and the duration you intend to sleep in it. I mean sleeping in a tiny two person tent for 4 or 5 days can become more of a chore than a pleasure. But for a couple of nights then they are great. But no just like you I still keep looking for my next tent. Which I've found the best time to buy is early winter. Prices are usually a little lower then.

    Hi Roger and thank you for your lovely message. Oh it is a great tent. Not perfect, but then what tent is? Yes the footprint situation is a little frustrating. I mean the amount of times I have taken the tent down and there has been some moisture on the underside. But remove the footprint and anyone would have thought you pitched your tent in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. The tent had literally sucked up the rain from the previous days. It really does make a huge difference in helping to not only keep the tent drier. But protect it as well. None of my videos just the other month. I didn't realise until I was taking the tent down. But one of my pegs was under the footprint and could have potentially ripped the underside of my tent. To me it's a no brainer to use one whenever and wherever possible. Oh Buster is my boy and I absolutely adore him. I used to be petrified of dogs. Even if I saw one on a lead I'd walk the other way. But I dated a lady who had a couple of dogs. I saw the love they give. We split up and Buster came along. He is incredible.....a greedy little so n so at times. But I love him and he's spoilt rotten haha. Does the new colour (the ugly beige one) has footprint inside ? Is groundsheet and footprint the same or am i confused..."smile" Do you have any problem with rain in the black bedroom ? for example if you open the ventilation ? when i am going to rent it on the hardrock festival - the weather forecast says raining cats and dogs...:(

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thank you. Sorry for the late reply I was away on holiday and only now catching up. Thank you....yeah my dog his pretty awesome thank you haha Wall Camping? I have no idea What do I use for sleeping inside? Well I've three or four pads. From the Trekology UL140 and UL80. I've got double beds from Quechua. I've also got basic bog standard airbeds. I use whatever I feel I need to at any time. If multiple people are going then I take the smallest, compact pad. If I'm going alone then I take the double air bed. So it depends on the trip really. Does the new colour (the ugly beige one) has footprint inside? I do not own that one but looking at the photos on Decathlons website. It has a sewn in floor yes. But if you mean the footprint which is a separate and that you place down first. Then no. As far as I'm aware the answer is no. Decathlon are the best people to ask in that instance. Groundsheet and footprint. For me the groundsheet is the floor of the tent. The footprint is as I mentioned before the layer you peg down before setting the tent down on top. This is often a separate purchase. I use a footprint as it adds an extra layer of protection to your ground sheet. If there is a peg on the ground that you did'nt see before laying the tent then that could potential tear the ground sheet. Its better the footprint be damaged than the base or groundsheet of your tent. Do you have any problem with rain in the black bedroom? Nope. I've the tent up in storms and it's been fine. Close the window curtains for the side window and the front door and rain will not be an issue. I've hod my 2020 version or turquoise and white version since early 2020 and it's been a solid tent. Just close the windows and doors when it rains and I cannot see any problems.

  • @ondrahuuu
    @ondrahuuu19 күн бұрын

    Great video, thanks. Just a question about footprint. Isn't problem during the rain that water actually stays between footprint and tent groundsheet? Because footprint is waterproof as well it can't dry out. Isn't better breathable footprint so moisture can drain out to protect bottom of the tent? Thanks for answer.

Garden camping was a different story though as the slightest sound like a cat or fox in the neighbourhood and he would be alert to it straight away. So when I am garden camping I have him looked after by someone else. At a campsite I will have in in the bedroom with the bedroom door closed. The Quechua 4.1 that I have does not have a sewn in groundsheet. So if he wanted to he could go exploring whilst I was asleep. So I have him in the bedroom with me. Hello, great review ! Yesterday I have ordered one from decathlon. You really helped mi make the final decision with this video. Thanks! I have a question I did see in comments section, that ppl use footprints 4x3m. From what I saw the dimensions for this tent are almost 5x3. Is there some kind magic way that those possibly fit?

  • @ItsaCampingThing

    @ItsaCampingThing

    2 жыл бұрын

    Awww that's lovely to read. I'm sure you will have many wonderful camping adventures with your tent as I have mine. I'm happy to be of help. Now in answer to your question. Really you need to buy a footprint that is the same dimensions as your tent. Which for this tent is I believe is 480cm x 290cm. As for the smaller footprint then you could use a smaller foot print. But you will not get the full benefit of it as it clearly will not cover the whole underside of the tent. Sadly no magic :( It is better to buy a slightly larger footprint and tuck it in wherever possible between the pegs are for the tent. I did this for a camping trip back in 2019. Unfortunately the options available at the moment are far and few between. In a couple of weeks I'm using a tent with a. foot print double it's size. I will peg the footprint down at one end and then fold it. Using use the weight of the tent to hold the other end of the footprint in place. the positives of that are that the footprint is effectively double the thickness and has better protection. whilst on the down side it's is more bulky to have in the car than if I was to take one the correct size for then tent. As I said in the video it would be nice to have available a purposely designed footprint for the tent. Maybe you could buy the standard kit with just the tent. Or have a deluxe option where you get the tent, pump, footprint and maybe a lamp at a reduced price then if purchased separately. Just an idea haha Thank you again for your kind comment and I hope you like your new tent.

    @@Darklix_ No Im sorry I couldn't give you the information you require. The Quechua Air Seconds 4.1 Fresh and Black has a base size of 480cm x 280cm. So maybe you can find a tarpaulin that is of that size. Or a footprint of that size also. Sadly they seem very hard to come by these days. I hope you find the correct footprint.

    Thanks for your question Alan. Sadly I do not have a model name for a footprint that I can say will fit this tent. The one that I use is from an old Vango tent from 12 plus years back that just by coincidence was the correct size. Sadly that is now long since discontinued. I have just had a quick look online and the nearest I could find was from Gooutdoors. It's not an exact match. It's little wider and shorter than the Quechua tent. That footprint measures 465cm x 335cm and is ideally suited for the Vango Icarus 500 Deluxe. Which isn't ideal but the closest I could find. The width maybe a problem especially when it comes to pegging the tent out and having the ground sheet in the way. Usually in that scenario I just unpeg the footprint and roll it in to get the tent pegs plugged in. The Quechua Air Seconds 4.1 Fresh and Black does have a footprint size of 480cm by 280cm. So another option might be to find a tarpaulin of that size and use that. Which is something Ive done on other tents before now. I hope that helps.

    Aww thank you. Yes the footprint I use is from an old Vango Icarus 500. It's a tent which has long since gone. But the footprint was just the right size so I reused it. Now I've just had a look on-line and sadly cannot see any footprint with those dimensions. Vango now do the Vango Icarus 500 Deluxe which is a wider tent at 315cm as opposed to the 290cm on the Quechua 4.1. So the footprint will not fit the Quechua tent...sadly. I suppose 5 metres by 3 metres is the closest you will get and maybe in a tarpaulin. But even that is a struggle to find. Personally feel that all tent manufactures should at least offer a footprint as optional extra. It's just that extra bit of protection and helps keep the bottom dry. But hey ho. As for the price. Then you got an absolute Bargain. Currently the Quechua 4.1 fresh and Black here in the UK retails for £329.99 or 385.82 Euros. You did well there. Paul

    www.decathlon.co.uk/p/3x4-metres-waterproof-groundsheet-for-camping-trips/_/R-p-3745?mc=2855045 We use this groundsheet from Decathlon which is just the right size. You have to tuck under the edges at the front where the tent narrows so you don’t get rain/ moisture in between the groundsheet and tarp ground sheet but it’s cheap and does just the job!

    @@kirkhogan2688 sadly I don't have the tent at hand right now. I'm away on holiday and only going by memory. I'm 5ft 10 and can just stand up in the middle, center of the living area of the tent. The tent slops either side and drastically at the rear. You may be better looking at other tents. The air beams make it nice and easy to set up. But at 6ft you maybe more comfortable with a larger and taller tent. The 190cm refers to the outter dimensions. Not the ceiling height. Between the first airbeam at the front and the middle beam there is a raised section. This is for ventilation which is why there is a difference between the 190cm and 160cm

    I was disappointed I bought this tent this year because it’s advertised as a blackout tent - it isn’t . I woke up at 5:30 on August 5th 2022 to see daylight albeit not bright day light through the door section. It’s not truly blackout. Sorry but false advertising in my opinion

  • @ItsaCampingThing

    There are two versions of this tent. A none blackout version which is currently £199, reduced from £229. And then there is this version which is now Beige and white ( 2022 ) model. Fresh and Black. That retails for £329.99 reduced down to £299.99. The tent I have here is the ealier version ( 2020 ) of the beige and white Fresh and Black tent currently at £299. Whilst the blackout bedroom is’nt 100% dark. It does block out a lot of the light. Enough to sleep in during the day at least. I’ve done it myself. Its better than any blackout curtains you could buy for your bedroom at least.

Especially with there F&B and pop up tent designs. I hope you enjoy your 4.1 F&B and have many wonderful camping trips with it like I have mine.
