Sony please give us brighter and higher resolution LCD screen for the FX3 mark ii or A7SIV 🙏

That sounded like “I’m more familiar and used to the FX3” to me. I had the FX6 before the FX3 and I thought the FX6 menus, form factor etc. were all more intuitive. The biggest quirk being that you can’t display the Sony menu information over HDMI on the FX3, so you have to always use the flimsy little flip out screen, this is a terrible shortcoming and I hope they fix this - The FX6 you can handhold and shoot with right out of the bag, the FX3 I’ve found to be too light - I have to rig it out to get the necessary force of gravity to get rid of micro jitters - I don’t actually like Sony’s ibis, maybe if it were like Panasonics this would be very useful in some situations. But above all, the image is not the same out of these 2 cameras - unless you shoot in ProRes RAW - same sensor but very different processing. The FX3 has very aggressive Noise Reduction and sharpening going on that you can’t turn off, as a result I consistently get a thicker, less smeary image out of the FX6 - especially at 12800 iso / in low light. Alas, I love the FX3 - I hope they let us shut off the noise reduction + sharpening in the next iteration - that alone will be enough for me to upgrade. Who knows maybe one that E-ND + ibis tech from the Burano will pass on to the FX line

I own both, and yes IBIS and gimbal mounting are for sure advantages, we can live with the codecs since most of the editing systems still are not h265 friendly. Photography is a bonus too. There had been many shoots where I have combined Fx3 with arri as well, for gimbal shots in slog3

The next FX3 just needs internal ND’s and faster read out. That’s all I need.

I doubt Sony will go for a global shutter. At 8.7 ms how much faster will be perceptible for your workflow?

Corporate video requires different types of shooting. If I’m shooting “talking head” tripod work then my FX-6 is the optimal choice. It’s very well suited for that a-privation and I’m very happy to have that camera in my arsenal. If I am following a client around to shoot B-Roll on a gimbal or handheld than my FX-3 is the obvious choice. It’s smaller, lighter and has IBIS built in. I think they are both excellent cameras and they both work well for me. It’s just that one is better under one set of circumstances and the other is better in a different scenario.

ND filters in the FX6 are a very good reason to choose it instead of the FX3

I am really struggling between FX3 and FX6. So Thank you for a nuanced resumé 🙂👌🏻 The bigger sized FX6 looks cool, but if FX3 is just as great when it comes to the result, why use more money?

Ah! The perfect videographer to ask… I’ll be shooting some theater scenes in NYC and I’m trying to see IF I can get by with a Sony FX3 given that the lighting can be highly controlled… It’s not only is it about the higher rental cost of the the FX6 or Komodo ecosystem… but the size of the files written out demanding (10?) more NAS storage for editing… The deciding factor may just be that the final product is only intended for smart phones or tablet… maybe a laptop? (There’s also some question about shooting under the theaters tungsten lights or (and?) my Aputure LEDS…)

FX3 will be great for something like that especially the smaller file sizes and low light. You’ll probably find the lighting varies quite a bit so just be careful with your white balancing.

Actually, things moved fast… same project but I settled for the Sony Alpha 1 after doing the deep dive into the sensor and low lite and being able shoot at the highest quality…

6 reasons why they are different tools for different jobs should be the title.

True, sadly the KZread gods don't like sensible titles. That said I still stand by the FX3 being a better camera for most people.

The Xtar SN4. Great charger. I did a video on it but no one watched haha. so I took it down!

I want a next-gen FX3, don't want to buy it now then another one came out next year... I know I will always be waiting but, I have a temporary camera now and it's still serving me well.

Yeah we’re getting into that window of a next gen camera. Still there not much I’d want to see extra on a mark 2 other than no filters

@@JonathanPalfrey They can do it. If Arri and Onsemi can do it, so can they. I think their technology is probably even more advanced. Just that they aren't trying their best for planned obsolescence. Arri cameras tend to last much much longer. Or perhaps I'll be happy with A1 in a FX3 body, no pixel binning, no line skipping. All oversampled.

1 reason fx6 is better than fx3, the image. No, they do not produce the same image. FX6 is better. I have both and is obvious to the eyes.

100% unless you record in ProRes RAW - and it’s because of the processing not the sensor itself

I agree. The FX-6 has slighter sharper and punchier image for whatever the reason.

One big reason is fx6 can tune down noise reduction. The iso 12800 on fx3/a7sIII has huge noise reduction. Make the image look not that orgnaic.

I basically need to buy an FX6 because it looks better to have a bigger camera. I'm going to resent every second of owning one, feels like I'm taking a step backwards in time to when I use to have to lug massive cameras around. I'm probably only going to use it for tripod interviews, the internal NDs are nice but no image stabilising is a no go for me. That fact the codex aren't as good and my projects are going to get bigger is new information to me. That's a dagger in the heart! The only ting that annoys me about the FX3 is you can't shoot 25p in X AVC HS

Resist it! Haha, go for the FX3 if you can, you can always rig it with a matte box and v lock if you really need it looking big. Honestly I think in the last few years clients have stopped caring about the size of the camera, maybe they never cared but we just thought they did or perhaps I just have enough confidence in what I’m doing now. They are more worried about getting jobs done efficiently to be honest and if a smaller camera helps with that they are more than happy.

It's interesting the FX6 was the new FX9 in popularity, the past two years. Now the FX3 is the new FX6. Hilarious that there are complaints about how "big and heavy" the FX6 is.

I love my FX6 but the small size of the FX3 is awesome 😅

Don't worry about Netflix spec. That only applies to productions they are commissioning. If you make an awesome movie and sell it to Netflix they don't care how you shot it.

Zoomrocker, Nd Filters, Form factor, Access Buttons …. I don’t even think you should compare them, because in my opinion they feed different needs. Like comparing a Porsche vs a Mustang… But ye since the whole world is using them for the „basic“ film making style and nothing else I get it, KZread has spoken 🙄 Maybe the title should be called my biased opinion. But what do I even know :)

The price is nice as well. FX6 is mad expensive.

Yeah you pay a lot of money for the higher end camera despite loosing certain features.

Corporate clients take you more serious when you show up with the FX6 as compared to the FX3. Even though it makes no sense sometimes specs don’t matter in the field
