6 Railroad Gate Runners Racing Train To Crossing! 2 Trains Passing, Both With DPUs Working Hard
Railroad Gate Runners Galore! Big Trains Passing At Railroad Crossing & Both Have DPUs Mid Train! CSX Intermodal Train With DPU Smoking Like A Steam Locomotive & Putting Out Heat. Weird Ditch Digging Train, Norfolk Southern Train On CSX Tracks & A Day So Hot That I Couldn't Wear My Hawaiian Shirts! These trains are in Hamilton, Ohio on the ex Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Toledo Sub, now CSX.
I went to my favorite railroad crossing to see if I could get some gate runners. They showed up later but the first trains are a CSX manifest train with a mid train DPU and a Norfolk Southern manifest with a DPU in the middle of its train also. These trains are passing right in front of me at the railroad crossing on Heaton Street. I got really lucky to have these trains pass in front of me. It was 95F with high humidity and I was so hot that I had to take off my Hawaiian shirt. I needed that shirt because it has a shirt pocket that I use to put my radio in. I sweat really bad when it's hot like that.
After that train I had to sit in the truck for a little while. Another train finally came and while the gates were going down a record total of 6 runners zipped on past while the train was blowing its horn. I have seen cars get hit by the gates here. This train was a Norfolk Southern double stack intermodal train running northbound on CSX until it gets to its New Castle Sub a few miles to the north. The train wasn't very long but the runners didn't know that. Lol
Next, we have a southbound CSX intermodal train with a mid train DPU. That train was a good one also. I could feel the heat coming off of the smoky DPU. That train will go about a half mile south to the Norfolk Southern interchange and take that route to Queensgate Yard in Cincinnati. As I have said on here previously, these two lines do directional running. CSX is primarily northbound while Norfolk Southern is southbound. There are numerous exceptions.
Next, we see the train that I filmed in Muncie, Indiana. This is a maintenance of way train that has a track hoe for drainage work. I explained this train in a previous video and added this for my viewers who haven't seen it yet. See my Muncie video and my shorts video of it.
Then we see some bonus footage that I filmed near Salt Lick, Kentucky. This is Cave Run Lake. It is a man made lake that was made by damming the Licking River in the late 60s. I walked out on a walkway above the water at the dam for an interesting view. Check out the water coming out of the spillway! It is really flowing. We also see another update of the train station in Hamilton that was moved and then its time for the pets. Don't forget the short slide show also.

I've seen quite a few trains do that. Only on the CSX lines. One comes to a slower than the other holding up the vehicles

Not just two trains passing, two LONG ones. At a moment like that, you almost need a drone. 24:15 That resembles the stilling basin at Blue Marsh Dam northwest of Reading, PA. It was also built by the Army Corps of Engineers (70's).
I liked the water slide at the end😊
It must have been deafening with two trains passing at the same time. I used to enjoy watching trains until the railroads began using DPUs. They make great sense for the railroads financially, that they can run much longer trains with fewer crew. But the longer trains result in more blocked crossings by stopped trains taking care of switching operations down the line. And then the motorists who need to get across the tracks for some kind of appointment can spend up to another 30 minutes trying to find a way around the big steel diesel powered road block.

Another fine Video JT! great seeing 2 trains passing & the Norfolk & Southern closest to the camera, cool. The runners are idiots we get them in the UK as well some of the videos i see of cars & people trying to outsmart a train are unbelievable. The first CSX train was a long one too! ❤😊
Where I live at now. It's right on the Mississippi River. We have a CP & a CN Rail yard. Then across the river we have double tracks of BNSF. When it's really quiet at night, sometimes You can hear like 3 trains at once. Follow Steel Highways 😊
Nice to watch the trains but has anyone lost life/home because Emergency Services have been delayed by those extra long trains? Nice camera work. Thanks for sharing

It is more like "DPU, I see part of you." This crossing would be a great place for the Federal Railroad Administration and Federal Highway Administration to do a joint experiment on a camera that photographs the license plates of vehicles that run through railroad crossings.

We’re lucky U.P. Only has 600 miles of track in Minnesota and we live near them. They built a 3.5 double track just west of our town. The line runs from Sioux City to the twin cities
