2 Trains Approach RR Diamond At Same Time! See What Happens Next! Logansport Indiana Trains TP&W

Ойын-сауық

One Railroad Diamond & 2 Trains! Short Line Railroad Action & Class One Action! Norfolk Southern Railroad & Toledo, Peoria & Western Railroad. Includes Epic View Of Train Coming Over Railroad Bridge Straight At The Diamond. These trains are in Logansport, Indiana. Ex Wabash Railroad crossing ex Pennsylvania Railroad. 7 trains are in this video including a night train. This was my second visit to Logansport, Indiana.
The Toledo, Peoria & Western Railroad local switching train showed up first. The Norfolk Southern road freight had priority and crossed over the diamond first. This is one of the coolest things that I have filmed at a railroad diamond. Notice how quickly the second train came across after doing work on the northwest side of the city.
The video also includes a close look at the rail and we see a couple of locomotives that are switching in the small railroad yard just east of the diamond.
I tried to get different angles of the diamond to make it interesting and the video includes another night time train. This summer I have filmed more night trains than ever. Since I got positive comments on my Amtrak night train and my street running night trains, I decided to try a few more. Which train is your favorite in this video? By the way, I rode up here with Scott, @1960gambit. We were hoping to catch the evening Triple Crown Road Railer train but it was running late and didn't pass through here until a couple hours after we left. I am looking forward to returning to Logansport. Did you like the modern art that I found in town by the railroad?
Filmed Thursday, October 12, 2023 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

October 30, 2023 in Pittsburgh US Steel manufacturing christened two converted switch engines. They were converted from Diesel Electric to fully Electric engines. The engines were removed and installed batteries in place. The commentator reported that these engines batteries have to be recharged every two to three days in that service. These engines will be used in the yards to move cars in and out of position.

For a smaller town that was pretty good action. NS gets the benefit of crossing the diamond first but the TP&W didn't have to wait too long. Thanks for shooting the train coming across the bridge. Because of the sun angle and the fact that it has high sides it usually eludes videos. In fact it was dark enough that was the DPU I almost missed you but the train had plenty of empty gondolas heading back East for pipe loading. Thankfully you did not get the one finger salute from the shortline crew like you did last time and if you notice the TP&W power it was like going to Winton Place in Cincinnati. The lead unit was Marquette rail in honor of that solitary boxcar that usually goes by and the second unit was Indiana and Ohio which we see leaving on their transfer run on occasion. Trick or treat and we all got treated to a JT video. Perhaps the metal ball was to portray a flaming comet.

That's a familiar sound from back in the day. We had the Penn Central cross the B&O in Troy. Wow, look at all of those bolts through that diamond. I LOVE those green grain cars. Wow, that's a old rail section. That looks like a very short curve coming into the diamond. You had a GREAT shot of that. That artwork is VERY cool. I wonder why it's sitting there? I'd like to have that in my yard. Great shot of the train coming in over the the bridge. Some great art work on those auto cars as they cruised by. I remember back in the day when they were all open. I used to love to see the new cars. Your shot in the dark was a treat. Everything looked great. You had a very productive day. Great spot.

Logansport is the eastern end of the Toledo Peoria & Western. It was jointly owned by the Pennsylvania and Santa Fe and ran west of there to Keokuk Iowa. For a brief period in the 80s Santa Fe reclaimed TP&W but it didn't last long for reasons I can't recall. As it stands now it only runs as far west as Peoria now with the Tazwell & Peoria handling the Peoria to Keokuk end. Also the almost tie at the diamond reminded me of an article from Classic Trains in the late 90s or early 2Ks where the Chicago Great Western and Illinois Central Iowa division literally had a tie at their automated crossing in Elmhurst Illinois in 1966 or 67. Westbound CGW freight hit the crossing circuit at the exact time a westbound IC freight ( IC crossed at an angle before heading west) also hit the circuit. As it ended up head end crews from both trains went and asked each other who had the red and when it was discovered both had a red board because they tied to the crossing circuit one of the crews called dispatch and not having a specific procedure they were told effectively work it out so who got to go first was decided by a coin flip that IC won so the circuit was reset to allow IC to proceed west where once IC cleared the interlocking CGW reset the timer and once thar ran down CGW also proceeded west leaving the railfan photographer with a tale and photos of a once in a million event.

One of the signatures on the graffiti at 03:28 is interesting also. Among the others, one said "FR8 CarteL." That's got a cool vibe to it.....Freight Cartel. 25:50 Looks like a fireball, maybe like a flaming asteroid once it enters the atmosphere. I wonder if that wire coming out of the bottom meant that at one point it used to light up.

Tooth, You are on fire‼️ Your videos, your commentary, the sounds, and production are all the best. I don't know what I'd do without your calming, train-loving voice each day. Keep the train volume up, this is one of the most interesting diamonds. I love Muncie too. This collection is terrific. I love trains, but the hours it must take to catch 7 at this juncture sounds like ALL DAY‼️ Thanks for your hard work and talent. Stop trying to look cool. You are, but wear some appropriate attire for the advent of winter. If you pick the right spots, car shots are fine with -F* temps. Of course there's trains South too. Good Luck. Good vid!🍀🔝😎🌝🇺🇸

What a difference a couple weeks makes. The weather in the video looks great while up here in Rhinelader Wi. we just got 3" of the "white death" for Halloween with a low of 13°F tonight. Excellent video and great action, enjoyed it much. Thanks JT! (Night shots are my favorite, I'll watch all you have).

That TP&W line crosses CSX in Reynolds, about 30 miles west. The NS line crosses that same CSX line in Lafayette, about 35 miles southwest.
