This was me to a tee I bounced between vegan and vegetarian and was not losing weight and getting sicker and sicker and could not figure it out until I found the carnivore diet. My husband has reversed his diabetes I'm down 56 lb, he's down almost 30 and we are starting to feel that we are healing.

I love the fact that Shawn isnt as adamant as some of the other carnivores. He realizes and acknowledges bioindividuality, and he even admitted that there may be some people who need a little fruit or something. He would never say to eat a lot of it. But I believe it was an interview with Kelly Hogan or another woman in the community.

The old rule for fruit was 2 servings a day. A large apple would be shared. Not people put 10 savings in a food processor and drink it down. And that is just the start of the day. Fruit for snacks as well. The old rule for grains was also 2 servings a day. If the health destroying food pyramid had never existed and people still at by the old rules, I bet quite a few people would never have developed health issues connected with food. I was gluten intolerant by 1962, but a lot of my issues became so much worse when I started listening to the so called experts.

"Endogenous oxalate production is thought to be fairly constant, attributing for up to 60-80% of total plasma oxalate and urinary oxalate excretion" - Nephrology and Hypertension Journal So regardless of how much you avoid eating veggies, your body is still full of oaxalates. It's funny when you look at the research, vegetarians and vegans actually have LOWER incidences of kidney stones, shouldn't that be higher if they ar eating more oxalates and other anti-nutrients? "a balanced vegetarian diet with dairy products seems to be the most protective diet for kidney stone patients." And also, if a person is metabolically unhealthy, shouldn't they fix this rather than just avoiding food?

My husband and I have been carnivore for 11 weeks, due to autoimmune issues. My husband didn't feel well last weekend. We thought it may have been an oxylate dump. So, he ate one pickle. By the next day, his gout came back and a rash he'd had on his arm since January (that had completely gone away due to the carnivore diet) came back with a vengeance. He went to his doctor this week and is now being tested for lupus. 🤷‍♀️ ONE stupid pickle and he's been down all week with gout and some kind of autoimmune flare. So anyone who says this is a placebo effect is crazy. My husband has lost 30 pounds, with about another 10 to go. I have lost 25 pounds, also with about 10 to go. I doubt a placebo effect could result in that kind of weight loss, or in returning of symptoms after a reintroduction of veg.

The body is designed to tolerate these foods for a while. The constant bombardment from a lifetime of eating this way shows up about 40ish when you start having issues IMHO. Your body simply cannot take it anymore. Then you start having diabetes, weight gain, hormone issues, thyroid and the list goes on and on. Then you start taking meds for these issues which sometimes makes things worse from the side effects.

After getting two Pfizer shots, I developed arthritic pains in my right knee, hip and left shoulder. Having previously been on what I considered to be a healthy diet of real food, with no processed foods and no sugar, with lots of fibre, I decided to go lower carb and also eliminate potentially inflammatory foods, starting with the nightshade group. Now I am largely carnivore, tho still eating avocados and some above-ground green vegetables, and my arthritic pains are fully resolved. Going to the gymn also seemed to help. As a great side benefit, I never feel hungry and tho I'm in my late 60's, I'm the same weight as I was in college.

I was horribly ill for more than forteen years before an immunologist finally discovered I was susceptibles to vegetables and salicylatetes more than thirty years ago. Salicylates are in every plant in on the planet. Some in a mild form and some are really strong. You'd never guess which are which. The only way you can find out what's causing you to be ill is to remove everything from your diet including spices, colours, flavours, hard cheeses, additives, etc. Go right back to basics and see what happens for a couple of weeks. Then gradually add one or two vegetables at a time if you dare. Just a word of warning: Medications are made of all these things too. You can't avoid them, If your meds are coloured try to get your doctor to change them to white ones, or change the meds.

This is so true, antinutrients is no fun! I was raw vegan (fruits and greens) for several years, ended up with oxalate poisoning, histamine issues and several nutrient deficiencies. I felt fine the first 3-4 years, at about 6-7 years in my health really started declining fast. And that even though I was supplementing with B12, d-vitamin and taking a lot of herbs. I got horrible issues with my nervous system. Especially after each meal, it basically felt like my system just out of a sudden was shutting down, like someone was sucking all the energy out of me, making it even difficult to breath. Eventually my body started rejecting to all kinds of plant foods. And I had to make the switch back to fish and eggs in order to survive. Meat was extremely hard for me to digest at first. HCl and digestive enzymes have been of great help for me over the past 2-3 years. I've been carnivore for a month now, and I'm slowly feeling better and better. 🙏

The FDA and the USDA depend on businesses doing testing...... Local doesn't mean poison-free. Also, "local" often means no more than sold local. Organic doesn't mean poison-free, either. I've never really heard of Anti-nutrients with regards to Fruits, as Fruits are meant to be eaten by animals to spread the plant's seeds. Looking up Tannis in fruits yielded info that Tannis are produced by plants in their unripened fruits to ward off animals from eating them too early, and then the tannis content lowers as the fruit ripens. Essentially, the plant doesn't want it's unripened seeds to be eaten before they are capable of germinating to produce the next generation of off-spring. This makes complete sense. -------------------------------------------------------- EDIT: Interestingly enough I was reading up on Berries and Oxalates as mentioned in teh video, and then it mentioned that a high Oxalate fruit is Orange, something I consume every Citrus season. It also mentioned that Oranges produce high levels of "Citrate" which help against Kidney Stones, Gout, etc, so it's interesting. I also saw that the PEEL is what's high in the Oxalates, which is what I thought about when I read about Oranges being high, and it makes sense as the Peel is BITTER, as well as the white stuff inside being BITTER. I hear there are beneficial compounds in both, but I'm not sure. It makes me wonder how much people know about all of this stuff that keeps being spoken about. For example, I purchase from a few Amish farms, and a couple of them, if not maybe all 3 of them have presoeaked Fermented Pecans, and possibly other nuts. By soaking the nuts it will remove anti-nutrients, and the fermentation process would allow the bacteria to feed on certain components of the nuts, including possibly these anti-nutrients, to which we are now provided a anti-nutrient free, fermented healthy snack.

Soaking and fermenting reduces the anti-nutrients but it doesn't fully eliminate them. In the end, since all the nutrients a person needs are found in meat' seafood, eggs, and salt, there is no reason to eat consistently cobsume plants. Have them here and there for a little variety, but don't crazy with them.

First I would like to preface this by saying I have nothing against eating meat - in fact we raise our own beef ,pork and chicken and have some wild meat as well. And yes - veggies have these compounds, but they also can be rendered innocuous through varies prep methods - for example cooking decreases the amount of oxalates in foods - soaking beans and nuts gets rid of phytates - fermentation makes nutrients in veggies more bioavailable - just follow the traditional cooking methods and there will be no problems.

This isn't true. Fermenting and soaking do not fully neutralize anti-nutrients in plants. It absolutely helps, but you're still going to be getting some of the anti-nutrients. It's definitely worth taking the time to soak and ferment vegetables if you're hellbent on eating them, though. But it isn't a total solution.

@ Shawn Baker, it seems mustard stimulates a histamine response as well. My husband and I have been doing ketovore/carnivore as an elimination diet (due to autoimmune issues) for 4.5 weeks. My husband never had issues with mustard until about a week ago. He has been going a little extreme with it. Last week he started in with sneezing, runny nose and itchy eyes (despite taking 25mg of benadryl). He even called in sick one day last week, which is almost unheard of for him. Yesterday he was feeling fine, until he ate some ground beef, which he drowned in mustard. Almost immediately he started sneezing, his eyes became itchy and began to swell! His face puffed up and his throat was scratchy. I was ready to take him to ER but it resolved with 50mg of benadryl. Do you think it was from the mustard or the turmeric in the mustard? Either way, he knows not to ever eat mustard again. As a retired RN (I retired early due to debilitating autoimmune issues), I cautioned him that the next exposure could result in an anaphylactic response.

There may not be a one-size-fits-all, but by eating more meat, fish, eggs, Butter, etc. I feel better than I have in decades. If you watch more of him, you’ll find out he’s not trying to be a Savior. He just wants to help people because he also First helped himself and found that what worked for him may also work for others. @@ianstuart5660 it has been an interesting experiment. I noticed when I was on carnivore that my blood sugars were a little bit higher than I expected. I attributed it to gluconeogenesis. So what I did six months ago was I cut my protein in half, added the veggies and fruits noted above in small amounts, and significantly increased my fat intake. My blood sugars have significantly optimized since then. Postprandial sugars are in the eighties to 90s. My fasting and blood sugars or 70s to 80s, when before they used to be in the high 90s and low 100s. My ketone levels have also increased in the morning fasting. My hemoglobin A-1 C, when I started was 5.4, which is still relatively decent by generic standards, but it would put my random blood sugar at about 115. I also noticed previously that I was never really in ketosis despite the strict carnivore diet. My theory was that my sugars were still just a little too high and I wasn’t going into ketosis because of that. My goal is to see if I can get my hemoglobin A-1 C as low as I can into the 4’s. I think that ideally, this is where a healthy individual should be with regard to an A1c level. I have noticed no ill effect. I still feel great. I’m actually significantly leaner compared to carnivore and I feel as though I’m actually more muscular despite cutting my protein. My strength has increased objectively in the gym in terms of my lifts. I’m starting to think that strict carnivore may not be optimal, across-the-board for everyone because of blood sugar dysregulation from gluconeogenesis. I have urged most carnivores to get a blood glucose monitor and to track your sugars to see if this is happening in them. The important thing with overall metabolic healthy nutrition is to not be super dogmatic about it. You have to be open to experimenting and trying new things to see what works in terms of evolving. I’m at the point now where I think that a more meat-based omnivorous diet is more optimal than strict carnivore .
