I think the dress with the long sleeves should be the party dress for the wedding celebration. I have to say you look wonderful in all of them. You choose beautiful fabric too.

Wonderful to read this, Eloise. (I love your name.) That dress with the long sleeves is a personal favorite because it fits well and is the same dress my mom sewed in 1973.😄 But I wonder if it’s more suited for a garden party. Decisions, decisions!

Hi Vivian, I like all your dresses, the most flattering to your figure is the last one. It balances out your body type..reverse pyramid. It fits very well through the shoulders and bust line, then cinches your waist then flairs out just enough to give you the hourglass that everyone wishes they could have. The color is very pretty. The reverse pleat one is pretty too. The brown one is nice but looks very sedate, and classic and doesn’t scream fun. Enjoy the evening. PAM

They are all beautiful but think my favourite was the purple released pleat vogue dress just stunning fabric. You find the nicest fabrics xx

I love the Simplicity 8551! It’s so fun and pretty on you.

I loved every one of the dresses on you. Your bubbly outgoing personality makes each one of the dresses an instant hit. I'd be hard pressed which one to wear to the party if I were you, because I liked them all. The taupe dress will look even more stunning with that beautiful necklace you purchased in the second video. I also like the playful long red and white dress on you also. I don't think I've seen you in any outfit I didn't like.

Released pleated dress was my favorite..but take several and change throughout the party. You are so darling!! AND WHAT A SEAMSTRESS YOU ARE GIRL!! AND SWEET AS WELL!!❤❤

That first one was trés élégant! Loved them all. The one you made tea length was awesome. I love the long sleeves with it. It's nice to have a dress like that for cooler evenings by the coast or in the spring. I don't always like to have to fuss with a wrap or a shall.

Yep everything looks good on you, I like the first one you showed us it is my favorite but all the others looks good to I love sewing I been doing since I was 14 and now I am 65 when I sew i go to a different world. @@vivmomsews4962 I ordered 4 of the patterns plus fabric and even though I have not sewed articles of clothing in YEARS, I feel compelled to make these 3 (Simplicity 5850 & 8551, McCall's 8730, and Very Easy Vogue 9236). Wish me luck!!! I just found my sewing machine in the attic. I will have to take it to be cleaned out and oiled before I use it!!!

Oh Trina, thank you! I love that dress. Admittedly I need to shed a few pounds for it to look better - and get the chunky gold jewelry it demands. But it’s such a cool style. It was funny, right after I finished it and went to post a review on Pattern Review, I read someone else’s review of the same dress. She changed the hemline and wrote “I HATE the hi lo hem they have on it.” Oh well, different strokes! I love that feature. Thanks for writing! Let me know what fabric you choose!😄👍

I'm such a fan of vintage 60's and 70's. I happen to love the pink 70's dress. I think it also depends on the weather what you wear.

Well, judging by the comments, people have different favourites, but most agree that they are all wonderful on you and would be great for parties. I think the released pleat is the most outstanding one as the style is so elegant and yet fun and the fabric is just delightful so that is my choice. You have a flair for picking fabrics and matching them to patterns.

Thanks, Jenny! I love that Vogue dress. The fabric was $2.50/yard available at Trim Fabrics online. Not sure if they still have it, but I found it by searching woven polyester. Trim is an odd little shop but they have some treasures. You’re very kind to have written such nice things!🌸

I just started watching you and love your videos! I also love to sew and fabric is everything! As for the upcoming wedding…I would select the black sheath (McCalls?) or the last, longer dress. The black dress could fit any venue but if the setting is more formal, perhaps the longer one. You made 5 great dresses. Go enjoy them.

I'm so glad we have you to try them on for us before we make them! I'm petite so I always need adjustments.

I watched this video a few days ago and hesitated to comment. The whole purpose of this party is for you to enjoy celebrating you son’s marriage with family and friends. If I were you, I would choose the dress that made me feel beautiful and was the best suited for the venue. They are all lovely dresses, so you can’t make a bad choice. I’m always cold, so I probably wouldn’t choose the released pleat dress even though it is my very favorite. Given the lovely family that you have, and the really joyous occasion you’re celebrating, I’m sure you’d probably have a good time even if you wore a potato sack. Hope your party and celebration are absolutely amazing!!!

Well Viv you mentioned in one of your videos that you were born in 1964 I believe and I was born in 1968. So we both probably learned to sew in middle school and high school. I met my husband when I was 22 and that year his sister started college to be a Home Ec teacher. I had just graduated with a business degree and started a job at now out of business Cloth World. So for Valentines Day that year my husband got me a sewing machine and I basically learned along with my sister-in-law everything she learned in sewing. This helped me in my job tremendously. A couple of years later along came our 2 kids and I didn’t have that much time to sew or a sewing space to sew in. Also none of our friends at that time sewed so I put it away. Along comes middle school for my kids and drama classes and also marching band. You can guess what I started again...but the good thing is I forgot how much I enjoyed it and bonus I have loads of time now and a sewing studio.

Woo hooo! Time + sewing studio = win!! Yes, I was born in ‘63, and we had a great home ec class. I remember getting to make tacos at 9:30 in the morning in the classroom kitchen, and how good they smelled! But I can’t recall the sewing machines we used; they were probably Kenmores. How great that you returned to sewing, I presume for the drama and band departments? Wow, they were fortunate to have you! When I finally got back to sewing a couple years ago I couldn’t believe how much I loved it. The landscape had changed - no more corner fabric stores to drive to - but the fundamentals are constant and comforting. I’m so thrilled to meet so many fellow sewers!😄👍

First - you just make my day! So much fun!!! Second-love all of your party dresses. I think the last one is wow! I also love the one with the pleats and the wonderful big skirt! Congrats to your son and their wedding. Have fun.
