6 Most Unusual Pickup Trucks! You Won't Believe Exist!
From designs that pushed the boundaries of imagination to limited production models that made it onto the streets, we're showcasing pickups that break the mold of the traditional truck design.
First up is the 1990 GMC Mahalo, a Pickup that never made it to production but left a lasting impression with its convertible feature and striking three-tone paint job in bright coral, seafoam green, and white. A true testament to the experimental phase of the '80s and '90s, the Mahalo was a glimpse into the future that unfortunately never came to be.
Next, we explore the 1995 Skoda Felicia Fun, a unique pickup that emerged in a market where trucks were rare. Its standout yellow design and innovative features, such as additional pop-out seating, made it a vehicle designed for fun and leisure, showcasing Skoda's desire to bring joy and functionality together in one compact package.
Then, there's the 1990 Nissan Gobi, a pickup with a design inspired by helicopters, featuring a cockpit-like driver's area and innovative storage solutions. Its rounded body and quirky features like a removable glovebox/backpack made it a standout design at the Detroit Auto Show, though it never went into production.
We also highlight the Rinspeed Tatooo.com, a pickup that merges 1950s American hot rod aesthetics with modern technology, including a built-in crane for easy loading and an underwater jet ski. Its collaboration with various brands for parts and its innovative design elements made it a showstopper at the Geneva Motor Show.
Lastly, we cover the Ford Bronco Montana Lobo and the Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) Maloo. The Montana Lobo, with its futuristic design and innovative features like sliding doors and vented seats, offered a glimpse into the future of off-roading. The Maloo, on the other hand, revolutionized the concept of a sports utility vehicle with its powerful V8 engines and sporty sedan-like performance, becoming a beloved figure in the automotive world.

as cool as the montana lobo is, i don't think it really had sliding doors. i've been unable to find any pics of it with the doors open, but i can clearly see hinges in a few pics. maybe sliding doors was a planned feature. it's still a very cool vehicle that i didnt know existed until now though

The Sliding Door is behind the driver & Passenger seats, you can see it when they show the vehicle from the back. Here at 9:23 you can see the sliding door. You can see it better at 9:50 as well. Think the old two sliders in the back window of a pickup, bu going the full up down length of the back of the cab.

I'd love to have that Skoda. It's a shame the US car makers only cater to those who want muscle cars and luxury cars. I am so into the economy car market of Europe.

The pronunciation is Shkoda not Skoda as per the marks above the S when seen in proper printed material.😡

@@user-oj9dq8io7r I really hope you're Czech, then it might be normal for you to call it that way. Everyone else just calls is Skoda..... Unless they are from a place that doesn't even have Skoda. Somewhere like America, perhaps

@@_M_O_E_ No, but had a friend of ancestry from that part of the world that let me know that was what that little marking on the S ment and the proper pronunciation is Shkoda. This was in the 1980s, and has left an impression since. Just as the proper pronunciation of Volkswagen is actually "Folksvogen", and to my German ancestric ears hearing so many people mispronounce that is grating to.🤢

Compared to the HHR and SSR it hits the mark. A longer and wider bed and that thing would have sold!

What are they making a side by side? That just looks like cars. These are the ugliest rigs. I think I have ever seen and they want to sell these pieces of junk tou. Gotta blow in the dashboard before you can make it go. And it takes pictures of you while you drive. They can take this piece of s*** and stick it. When are they gonna make us a real truck for the right price?Instead of these little pieces of junk
