I wish Mattel would release new historically accurate (!) outfits for the older dolls, even the ones that are retired.

Yes! I wish they'd give us clothes and sets and stories for the dolls we already have rather than constantly churning out new ones

I think Lila is perfect first doll for so many children. Her collection is colorful, playful, and sweet. I saw her in person at the Orlando store and walked out with her to sew for. Just a cute doll. What's wrong with cute?

I literally have five Addy Walkers one 55 and one Addy mold that I can’t quite decipher. She is for sure a Truly Me tho. I had the some the now retired Addy mold dolls but I sold them all after my daughter lost interest. Im so sad that I did! I had no clue that they would be in such demand. I’m obsessed with the Addy mold so I definitely thinks it’s iconic ❤.

I agree with every point you brought up especially the fact that AG should listen to what Adult collectors want. A lot of us grew up with American girl and would love to see re-releases of collections.

Eyebrows make SUCH a difference - i agree that the Joss mould looks intimidating on the 90s twins, but Joss herself looks so sweet and endearing. I think it's not just the bushiness, it's more the way they're angled.

Totally agree on literally all of these. I feel like they’re quietly getting rid of the Addy mold and if they do, they’re really gonna be IN for it with the drop in sales… The Jess mold should have never been altered either. That infuriated me deeply and still gets me going. I will never buy a current Jess mold solely out of spite bc wtf… I also think Lila is adorable, I just seriously wish she didn’t look so much like Evette. Maybe a different freckle pattern or eyebrow shape would’ve helped? Either way, I’m def still gonna get her later on but absolutely NOT in 2023. As an OG mid/late 2000’s collector, they need to go back to their roots with 1 GOTY per year. That includes COMPLETELY retiring the previous girl, not this bull crap with the GOTY still being available for 2-3 additional years. I bought the FAO Shwartz collector doll this year and she’s freaking stunning; Her wig is a little too plasticky for me, but I still don’t regret getting her at all. The quality almost borders what it amounted to back in the day, but for $300???? Girl, be so for real. High quality for AG should be expected for the cost. They need to be GIVING with these collector dolls at the price point they’re selling them. I’m talking like a whole extra outfit, an accessory set included, something more than literally just the doll and paper certificate. It’s just not enough for $300. Also, the Doll Hospital needs to for sure restock. The fact that they no longer replace certain doll parts just blows my mind. I mean, that is the entire point of the Doll Hospital… Having the reassurance that if something happened to your luxury, name brand doll, it could be fixed without having to entirely repurchase or find it on the resale market.

I was just talking on another post about the lack of usage of the Addy mold. I think American Girl is trying to find a new "staple" AA mold to represent the brand. Compared to the Addy mold, Makena, Claudie, and Sonali all have more "acceptable" features by our society's standards (Smaller noses, slimmer cheeks, etc). I feel like American Girl has even been playing with using Josefina as a mold they can turn to for their AA dolls with the releases of Truly Me. I hope they start using Addy more, because there are people out there that look like Addy and should be represented in a brand that's supposed to represent America.

Yeah, I don’t get all the hate for repeated hobbies in the GOTY lineup 😅 I haven’t looked at them too much, but it seems like most of the repeats happen with enough of a gap where people who were younger are grown by the next one ya know? I mean, I kinda get it if you’re collecting the dolls you want different ones, but you wouldn’t have group classes if people didn’t have the same hobbies😂 I do wish they had more than one of the Addy mold. Prior to the Truly Me revamp it was like they switched from the Addy mold to the Sonali mold, and that’s fine, but that’s kind of like using just the JLY4 mold or Jess mold to represent all Asians ya know? Granted I think they’re pushing the CYO more than anything. One of the last emails I got from AG was about “must have dolls”. Didn’t even mention the historical line, which broke my little history nerd heart but hey 😂

Even though you hated on the only AG LE doll I really like (I bought not one, but *two* of the Shimmering Silver dolls because I wanted to cut the hair and change the lip color on one and I maintain that the Shimmering Silver doll is GORGEOUS)...I thoroughly enjoyed the video :-) The beautiful thing about collecting these dolls is we don't all have to agree on everything, right?

Totally agree about the Josefina mold it’s my fave! Thinking about getting Lila because like you said she has some really unique features. I’d love to see more Addy molds as well. I love my 35th Anniversary Addy and agree the quality is good on the anniversary dolls! I agree the Disney dolls are not my vibe but I did get my first collector doll this year because I did like the holiday doll with her MG mold and unique features and I am really enjoying having her on display. I may add Kavi to my collection as well. I saw you in one of the AG FB groups the other day and I was like omg it’s Chris on the hunt for more dolls too lol🤣 Another great video!🎉

I really like Lila! I think AG calls her Lie-lah but I prefer Lee-la haha. I love the Josefina mold and I've been wanting the new freckle pattern, and I love that I can play with her hair unlike Evette unfortunately. I do wish she had the #20 or #25 vinyl though. Her meet outfit is so freaking cute though and I'm loving it for her and my other dolls :)

I agree with you on all of these. I don't like the collector dolls and so I was so happy that someone felt similar to me.

Some of the new American girl dolls are so low quality I wouldn't even spend my money on them for me personally I love to save on American girl all of my dolls with the exception of two came from the thrift store or were given to me by neighbors and family friends
