I love a thick, gel-like toner. The Isntree Hyaluronic Toner Plus was actually the first Korean toner I tried and while I've been exploring other toners, I think I'll definitely come back to it. (I've definitely found a couple watery toners I love too though). Cause the thickness of it makes me feel like I'm really getting maximum hydration and it also just lasts me forever cause I end up using less.

I love all toner textures for different purposes. I have DRY!, Dehydrated!, sensitive skin which gets exacerbated in Winter (got to love genetics, climate, and medication). Basically this makes me a layering queen as my skin never seems to think it gets enough (and also I'm not the type of person to waste a product because it's not perfect on its own so sometimes layering is necessary in that aspect as well). I often use multiple products at different weights/consistencies to balance and lock in hydration and moisture. I take in to consideration the texture of all the products I plan to use in a routine then mix & match from there. Often equivalenting first essences to light-watery toners, essences to thicker-gel like toners, and occasionally a thick essences to serums (like the Cosrx snail). This also comes in to play when I am purchasing or opening a new product; that way I don't have to many similar things at once. I am still finding my perfect products but so far I do like the Soon Jung relief toner as a multiple layer first step. The Keep Cool Bamboo, I'm From Rice, and Klairs Supple Unscented are all good medium weight toners that can still be layered a few times (listed lightest-heaviest IMO). I finished 2 mini's of the Laneige Cream Skin Refiner and liked it enough to buy a full size (just trying to use up some open products first).I do find that it can be a bit tricky to use as it doesn't always play nice with other products but it definitely seems worth figuring it out. I have also tried the Isntree HA Plus a few times but stopped after my skin freaked out (unrelated to products but still went back to basics) so I don't have much of an opinion but I did like the texture. I like that it is a 50% multiple weight HA complex, as my skin has a complicated relationship to HA, and I am excited to try it again soon (just figured I'd wait until I finished a similar consistency product). Just to give some additional insight; where I live the average dew point is 0° C (range of -10° C to 10° C) all year round which basically means it's DRY!!! like the kind of dry where I have to run a humidifier at night 365 days. Temperature isn't too bad in the winter around 5° C to -5° C most days (plus we don't have to run any heat since we live in an condo and the residual heat from units around us is enough) but we do get hot summers (25° C - 35° C) so it definitely feels cold outside. Also the water is hard which sucks both for my skin and having to buy water for the humidifier. I feel like this is a lot and my anxiety is saying I should delete it but I spent to much time trying to make it all make sense so I'm not going to.

Hi Kelly I always layer toners and love the cream skin refiner, but I have very thirsty dry skin. I'm currently layering the soon jung toner (2 3 layers), cosrx propolis toner (one layer), cream skin (one layer) and the cosrx snail secretion essence. This is all under serums, oil and moisturiser - then a sleeping pack or spf depending on time of day. I'm using a body cream as my sleeping pack, as I need a lot of occlusion to seal everything in. Unless someone else has severe dryness they'll not understand how my skin can soak all that up, enough to wear makeup during the day or still wake up feeling a bit dry. I am rosacea and eczema prone as well as being menopausal (2 years since my last period), so my skin just doesn't produce much if any sebum. I also use tretinoin/retinaldehyde for anti aging and need to maximise moisture. I can use the cream skin all year round and just change up my moisturiser re the season. I don't find cream skin greasy and can wear 3 layers of it some nights, underneath everything else. My skin would be flaky/irritated without all the moisture I pack onto it. I may try the thank you farmer toner, if I fancy a rice toner in place of the propolis I'm currently using. Best wishes.

Right now I'm using up Hada Labo Shirojyun Arbutin moist lotion, and add the Laneige cream skin refiner on the cheeks, before I add a moisturizer. I like adding "many" different light products and a gel cream moisturizer instead of a thicker one such as Illiyoon cream. I feel like the several light layers feel nicer on my combo skin especially during the day than the more richer Illiyoon would. For the night Illiyoon is okay but not even necessary every evening. If I have time, I'll start my AM and PM routines with Missha artemisia essence, which I have decanted into a brown glass spray bottle to speed up the application. I used to fear that I'll drop the huge unconvenient bottle, so that mini spray bottle (Lazy corner brand from yesstyle) was a must for me. I like having different toner options (light and a moisturizing one) available. (I wouldn't even count Laneige cream skin refiner or the Pyunkang Yul toner essence as toners, because in my head I think of them as "pre-moisturizers"...) When I'm in hurry doing my AM routine, I'll just use a moisturizing thicker toner and a moisturizer. I feel like after starting a proper daily skincare routine few years ago, I haven't needed a primer before applying makeup! The skin already is smooth and moisturized...Do the makeup youtubers, who use a primer, skip their skincare routines if they rely on for example a moisturizing primer like the Smashbox primerizer?? I've heard that it's good, but does it do anything that my skincare wouldn't do?

In your experience, would you say that the Rovectin activating treatment lotion is gentle? I just ordered it but I saw how there’s papaya enzyme on the ingredients list, so I’m kinda afraid that using it every night may be the equivalent of exfoliating every night, which I fear would really sensitize my skin and mess up my moisture barrier. So I’d love to hear some more about your experience w/ that product :).

I found an interesting Its Skin product named "Cream in skin" which looks like laneige cream skin refiner. But this one has ceramide as the hero ingredients. Could you review it Kelly? Thx

Hi... I've been using laneige skin cream refiner for last 2 years but I did watch a you tuber claiming that it's ph is above 7 which makes it alkaline... Toners main function is to balance ph of the skin... I don't know I should continue with it or not... I believe in your genuine review so count on you for the same... Could you plz clarify this for us... It would be highly appreciated if the confusion gets cleared... Skin type - combination acne prone sensitive skin....

Hi, between the cosrx and the klairs one which is more moisturising, the type that gives more of that 'damp skin' feel. I can't decide between the two.

@@fuckxt Hi, I’m not a skincare expert but I’ll try to tell u my experience using these 2 products. But before that I think it”s important to let u know abt my skin type - I have sensitive, dehydrated, combo-oily skin, and I live in a hot n humid country. Actually it’s hard to distinguish these 2 toners cos both offer equally good hydration n moisturisation for my skin type. But if I must make a comparison, I would classify Klair’s as a more of a “hydrating” toner and cosrx’s more of a “moisturising” n ‘nourishing” toner for me. Giving the weather I’m living in, I find myself reaching Klair’s more on daytime for ithe slightly cooling n soothing feel it gave me, and Cosrx in the nighttime where I have my fan and air-cond on. Cosrx will be a tad too heavy for me in daytime when it’s hot. But still I can use it during the day but to layer lesser (1-2 skins), and Klair’s I can layer up to 3-4 skins. Both are acne skin friendly. I would say go for Klair’s if u love Centella Asiatica and Cosrx if u are into propolis n honey (and that tad of dewy, glowy effect). Hope this can give you a little insights of these 2 toners and rmbr to take in account of my skin type and living environment :))

@@ML-zi5hl Omg, thank You so much for giving such a detailed reply. You mentioned everything that I needed to know. Telling me your experience and the conditions you live in has really helped with my decision. I live in a cold country with dry winds. I wanted to find a 'heavy' and nourishing toner and couldn't decide between the two. COSRX one is definitely what I was going for. Once again Thank You so much for describing them so well with experiences it really gave me a better insight than just comparing the ingredients.❤

Laneige cream skin? Greasy? I don't know what you're talking about, unless you're layering so many products with it. My oily skin loves this stuff! Cleanse, cream skin, serum, moisturizer/ sunscreen. Day or night, winter or summer, I am living for the cream skin and recommend it for every skin type

No, oil is not an occlusive ingredient and it's also formulated as a toner/essence step so it's created knowing most people will top it off with other skincare!
